  1. since I've owned the property I've seen a lot of chases 11/9 - 14
  2. what kind of terrain ? any foorprints in mud? what was the deer heading into. Don't think if it's liver shot you must have gut matter, but it will live a while.
  3. Think the rut , meaning chase phase , is controlled by the doe's hormones, which I think is moon related. Temperature shouldn't matter.
  4. I have open scrapes and rub lines , just no visible chasing yet.
  5. very little action on my property right now, hoping next weeks moon will help daytime sightings.
  6. I feel that it's more of an education to people new to bowhunting. If you knew no better and saw the shot in the other thread and all you heard were "good job" "attaboy" , you may assume that it's a shot worth attempting yourself, which it isn't. This thread makes that point apparent, and maybe it will make a new hunter think twice about trying it. I seriously doubt it's going to affect anyones desire to post or participate, unless what they were going to post was "hey look at this hilarious shot I made at this deers eye/face/neck/testicles etc" and if it does prevent them posting such a thing, then obviously this post has helped them learn that such shots are not considered ethical and are frowned upon by others.
  7. anyone looked at .300 blackout or even a 7.62x39?
  8. seemed like it was an issue they were aware of.
  9. they never asked for it, didn't even ask for serial # or how long I'd owned it
  10. Just an fyi. I called wildgame regarding my two year old ir4 taking black night pics. They said return for replacement. Outta warranty no questions asked. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
  11. not yet , but planning on getting an upper for my ar in this caliber , technically it looks perfect.
  12. So I'm in the woods all morning freezing my backside off, and not a deer in sight. I get down and drive to my office to get some required work done, and theres 5 deer in the field next to my building, problem is that the guy I lease the space from won't let me hunt there for fear of po'ing the other tenants. Oh well, at least they're out and moving... back to my stand shortly.
  13. I love time away from work and technology and also the taste of venison, I hunt mostly because I love the time outdoors, secondly for meat, I will not go hungry if I don't make a harvest. Rack is a bonus not the goal. Would I like to take the 10pt that I've been seeing, sure... but then I'll have to pay to get him mounted and his meat will not be as tasty as a doe... I'd really rather have a nice fat doe in front of me today, but again... would not pass the buck should he appear. If neither shows... hey at least I'm in the peace and quiet and not dealing with peoples problems at work.
  14. It was a joke Four Season's, I'm sorry that your sense of humor has yet to come to maturity in you, though from previous posts of yours I shouldn't be suprised.
  15. The year before last I released on a buck , he ducked and I put it through his backstraps. He lived until I took him during rifle season, entry wound healed cleanly, exit wound was pretty infected. A friend always says to aim low, that people rarely shoot under but often shoot over, and at least if you shoot under it's more than likely a clean miss.
  16. if they're twins, and you line them up for a single kill... can't you just connect one tag through both their ears?
  17. take the mom, then wait for the fawn to come back and check on mom and take it too... if you have the tags that is.
  18. I've had deer both jump or duck at release. My guess is this one ducked... think of the legs all angling outwards and head going down with a "what was that" expression in the eyes When I used nybuckboys old Oneida Eagle as my starter bow , it was loud and slow.. so an expression I saw more than once
  19. My guess is that it slowed down passing through jaw, then again at sternum. Luckily he hit an artery otherwise it would not have been a kill just an injury.
  20. Nice deer , perfect shot Congratulations!
  21. A few days ago I had a 10pt broadside at 15 yards, only problem was that there was a cedar tree between he and I , I could see him through the branches but couldn't coax him into turning and coming into my lane. The devil on my shoulder was telling me to just fling an arrow his way and try to slip it between the branches. Thankfully I was able to ignore the thought for fear of what may happen should the arrow deflect, instead I sat there quietly cursing as I watched him walk away. I may have been able to pull it off, but the odds weren't in my favor and it would not have been ethical to try. The deer will hopefully come back to the same spot some time when my climber is positioned in a tree 20 yards further north
  22. If you were taking a broadside shot and it happens to deflect and cause this... fine, but he was aiming at a deer that was walking towards him, I understand that things can accidentally happen... but this was pretty intentional.
  23. Dead is lucky with this shot, it could just have easily, (or even more easily) been an injured deer in agony.
