  1. Saw that this evening, they popped out about 5 mins after legal shooting hours, hopping, skipping, running in circles. all kinds of nonsense.
  2. I also make sure I always get the same grain hornady custom ammo.
  3. I'm a one-shot per deer guy, but I can confess that I focused primarily on bow practice this year. My gun spent it's pre season time in my safe , and I used it opening morning to take a doe, opening afternoon for another doe. Both one shot dropped in their tracks. I have spent a lot of time with it since then... and in prior years I have tuned it in to my needs. So long as my scope doesn't take a hit from a drop... I know where my rifle hits... we're good friends
  4. Might have to take ya up on that offer Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  5. I moved here from Ireland 12 years ago, doesn't get cold enough there for it. I got into hunting and snowmobiling over here about 6 years ago, really broke up the monotony of winter. I'm thinking of giving ice fishing a shot this year.
  6. sounds good I dropped an email to dec for a definitive answer , here's what I asked : Hello, I’m having a discussion with a friend regarding legal food plot practices. I seem to recall reading somewhere that a food plot, let’s say corn.. I perfectly legal in its standing state, however if you brush hog it down, now it is illegal and classified as bait. He says that just applies to waterfowl. I can’t seem to find the document I originally think I read, indicating that knocking it down without a full attempt to harvest was baiting. Can you answer this and provide me some references? Thank you very much, I'll post their response when I get it
  7. I'll bite $10.00 via paypal to the correct answer?
  8. Unless you leave it standing it does. I'm certain I read it somewhere. I'll try and dig it up.
  9. the law says you must harvest it with the intent and full attempt to collect the product, mowing it down is in their eyes baiting.
  10. I have some 64gr powershock I think they are, rated for deer/elk according to winchester... I'd be very leery on elk, but may just try it this weekend for deer.
  11. is there an exit wound pic on that buck? what if you just lung shot it rather than heart, any pics of that?
  12. what ammo was that? as I said previously... I'm not against the idea of trying my AR for deer... just haven't been convinced from my one in person encounter with my FIL's "spray and pray" approach. He is also unlikely to spring for good ammo. I know I can take deer with my .270 , I'd like to take one with my .223, but haven't seen the proof. His entry wounds were miniscule, his rounds stopped on the inside of the hide on the far side so no exit wound. I found a skeleton of a big old doe in the woods the other day, I'm *thinking* it's one he shot and lost last year. If so it ran about 800yards before expiring. Again, no idea on shot placement or quality of ammo, but I'm guessing rather poor for both.
  13. I think hunting with the laser attached would make it an illegal implement in NY.
  14. Open tapatalk hit the search icon in upper right. Type in huntingny. Select it and provide credentials. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  15. I'm afraid you overpayed on both counts, the bolt knob is an easy install and retails @ $31 , the gun itself can be picked up new in box not on sale for ~925/930 , I could do $900.00 for it in used/unfired state
  16. the oversized bolt knob appears to have some damage to the bluing? or is the photo poorly representing it?
  17. I'm guessing you musta ratted me out, cos the boss made me work Wed, and dragged me outta the woods @ 8.30am this morning for an "emergency" call, I gave the guy his password by text... but he said it didn't work... worked fine for me when I got there!
  18. they also let me keep the antlers, and the carcass for coyote bait...
  19. two years ago I had a four point come in to about 50 yards, he had a noticible festering wound about the size of a grapefruit on his right shoulder/backstrap, with a healed arrow wound on the left. I took him, tagged him, and DEC gave me a replacement tag
  20. Been using it on my phone and pc for a few months now Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  21. Don't do it, that guy's a major a-hole Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  22. a few years ago I called them and never got a call back
  23. Had my first ever one on me this year during bow, my friend seems to pick up a few every year....
