  3. My first year bowhunting I did the same thing, knocked the deer right off it's feet, could see my arrow sticking out of it. All I could think was "oh no, it's going to run across the main road and people are gonna be pissed about the stupid hunter and his porcupine deer" , it circled around not knowing what had happened and I go to knock another arrow, it looked up and noticed the cause of it's issue... and took off. NYbuckboy and I searched for a while but never recovered that deer

  12. Like I said, just following my gut feeling on the matter... but looking into it now, it appears to not be healthy for the tree. I use those hangers on my hangon / ladder stands. For my climber I have a strap with hooks for my gear, and got that summit thing for my bow. The climber moves around so much depending on wind / location , I didn't wanna be damaging my future lumber investment too badly.
  13. "Drilling bore holes is not advised as it can spread the bacteria to healthy wood." "creating holes in trees can damage them and also kill them, drilling a hole in a tree breaks through the cambium which is the life support of the tree." "Drilling a hole in a tree would not cause the tree too much damage to kill it off, however you have now left an open wound for any bacterial pathogens to creep in through, and then they kill of the tree, these happen naturally but creating holes in trees can increase the chance of this happening."
  14. no idea, just felt like something I didn't wanna be doing. Not sure if it leads to pathways for fungal / bacterial infection to the tree. and it takes time to screw it in each and every time, at whatever height / angle / tree is needed at that time.
  15. didn't wanna be screwing a hole in every tree I climbed....
