National Hunting & Fishing Day at DEC's Ridge Hunter Check Station Date Saturday September 28, 2013 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Contact Region 1 Headquarters (631) 789-2480 [email protected] Additional Information http://www.SuffolkAlliance.org Description On Saturday, September 28, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will celebrate the 42nd Annual National Hunting and Fishing Day, in collaboration with the Suffolk Alliance of Sportsmen at DEC’s Hunter Check Station in Ridge (Suffolk County). DEC’s Check Station is ¼ mile west of Wm. Floyd Pkwy/CR46, ¼ mile north of Route 25. From LIE exit 68: Wm Floyd Pkwy/CR46, North to Rte 25. West on Rte 25, ¼ mile to Randall Road (Gas Station). Turn right (North) onto Randall. Go ¼ mile to entry, on left. From Sunrise Hwy: Wm. Floyd Pkwy north. Then, follow same directions as from LIE. Enjoy a day of exhibits and demonstrations including: free kids’ fishing derby with prizes, Rough Riders Cavalry Troop re-enactment; archery demonstrations and lessons for children; bait and fly casting demos; black powder demos; decoy displays; hunting and retrieving dog demos; falconry exercises, horse show, taxidermy display; trapping display. Representatives from the Central Pine Barrens Commission, Suffolk County Parks Department, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Dept., national, state and county federations, as well as numerous clubs and exhibitors will be in attendance. Free entertainment including kids’ fishing derby with prizes, pumpkins and face painting.

done and done I all ready tried some goose hunting they decided to stay out of range and then my dog hot injured had to take him to the vet. he's doing better now just waiting for sea-ducks to open now

I went out on Saturday 9/14 had about 4 groups 25 birds in all flying very were but by us we had 8 floaters and 3 field decoys set up did some calling but they were about 70 to 80 yards south of us on the way in we ran into two other hunters out there who got two geese but the worst news is when my dog Oz was getting out of the boat he caught one of his nails on the dock and tore it open had to rush him to the vet they cleaned it cut the nail gave him some pain meds and antibiotic he will be out for the rest of September no swimming but doc said he could do some field hunting I'm just keeping him home till he is held papabera

they broke on to my buddy's cabin and took his gun safe with 12 long guns ripped it out of the floor so they had to replace a section of the floor plus took a TV dvd played and over 50 dvds plus a whole lot more he's up there just about ever week end they had to know when he was coming and going papabear

took me two year going door to door before I got permition to hunt on the land I have now bin there 10 years and still can't find any other land ever one want cash from $500 to $1,000 for one season good luck hope you find some papabear

just asked the wife said she is almost done with her honey do list I might add a few things to it just for fun

I hunted Bear in Maine in Davenport I did not need ay head nets or bug spray I think in the 4 days I was there I seen four bugs I hunted over bait in a ladder stand exciding hunt if you never hunted bear before you have to make shore there are no cubs around before shooting your bear I waited about 10 minuets it could have bin five just seemed like ten good luck and were waiting for the pictures Papabear
