when i was going to Maine for my first bear hunt i read every thing i could get. A good bear for a full mount is between 125 to 200 lbs [in my opinion] if you want a big bear the best way to tell is looking at the head the smaller the ears and if it has a small beady eye's it is a good bear and if belly is hanging low to the ground that too is a good bear if it has a big round butt it should be female if the butt it small and tight i would say male I think the best hunt is in a tree stand over bait if you want to hunt Maine I have a guide that is excellent papabear

Rich from Fins to Feather is the only taxidermist I use he did a number of ducks my bear and several deer heads for me his prices can not be beat I have another duck I am waiting to get back soon and hoping to drop some off this season

try using pigeons if you don't want them to fly place a snug rubber bans around them so they can't open there wings they can only run if you do not want them to run just tie there feet togther to or just use dead one's

I have the same barrel for over 25 years with a 4X Bushnell on it I did not use it for a few years when I put the barrel on the Mossberg 500 and took A shot I hit dead center at 50 yards with tree shots I then took another 3 shoots at 75 yards and hit black with all tree shoots PaPaBear

I like to use a 6' 6" rod and spinier Shimano make a good rod and reel best thing to do is go to a local tackle shop and talk with the guy there find what you like for feel and money Good luck

I shoot a TC 50 cal. Hawkins I am hoping to hunt bear on long island with it and then take up to Maine for a black bear hunt

Hello name is Bill but most just call me Papabear I live in Islip Long Island I hunt mostly water fowl geese is my revert I teach hunter safety for about 15 years now I hunt with my partner OZ he is my black lab I trained him my self I use a 12 gage Stoeger 2000 for water fowl 35 marlin for all my big game I hunted in Maine for bear Texas for my Aoudad I also enjoy fishing fresh and salt when ever I can It is nice to be here Papabear
