  1. Hey Fastone - I'm from the Southern Tier and my backside isn't quite that hairy!!!
  2. Darn you Burt - Trying to play the role of Dr. Phil here and bring up bad past memories, LOL just kidding. Gun hunting 21 yrs - lost 1 buck and 1 doe Bow hunting 7 yrs - lost 2 of the largest bucks I've shot at - 1st was a single lung quatering to my 2nd year with the bow and I went after it too quickly. Learned my lesson quickly. Chased that deer quite aways that day. 2nd was a bad shot , high and into the shoulder.

    200 lb club

My Dad is a member of the 200 lb club. The deer on the right is his 10pt he shot during shotgun season in 1979. The deer weighed 208 dressed and the rack scored 134 and some fraction. "Ralph" as he calls him was shot at several times from a Lefever 12 gauge Double barrel Nitro Special which now resides in my gun cabinet. He has a perfect slug hole in his left ear to prove the lead was flying that day. My favorite part of the picture is the Old Milwaukee can and the smile on my Dads face.
  4. No Burt - The house to the right of my stand has been very very silent lately. The guy ran a bar and went bankrupt so not sure if he's still living there but no dogs thus far. Thats what happens though when you hunt small parcels fairly close to houses but they hold some nice deer!!
  5. This pic reminds me of this one time at Band camp.... ahhhh... errrrr... nevermind.
  6. Thanks for all the replies fellas. Thats interesting on the doe theory and I have heard that before. I did have a non typical on cam last year but he was all hard horned, no velvet but this is not the same deer for sure. We will have to wait and see. I have 3 different sets of the non typ so looks like it is hanging around. Lol at little buddy burgers. That was funny. Believe me, it won't be that difficult if the freezer is getting low and my thirst for bloodlust needs quenching. I'm letting it go for another 2 weeks and we will see if the activity changes. We had a cold snap the other night and it hit 35. Tonight it is in the 60's and going to hit 87 Friday. YUCK!!! Bring on the cold.
  7. Yes that pic is real and it is from right on the Broome/Tioga county line. They are coming up from PA and they can be shot. It is recommended as well. This is text from the Hunters regulations book from this year: Notice: Feral swine are a harmful, invasive species DEC is working to eradicate feral swine from NY's landscape. Hunters with small game hunting privileges may shoot and keep feral swine, at any time, and in any number. If you shoot or see a feral swine, please report it at [email protected]
  8. Thanks. The crabapple tree is right on a run that happens to be 17 yards from my treestand. Coincidence? OH YEAH
  9. Well I finally put my camera out on September 3rd. Im getting a late start this year as work is quite busy. Those of you that know me from NYDeer.com will recognize the famous crabapple tree in all the pics. I left the cam alone for 2 weeks and I had 143 pics. 80 of them had full pics of deer and other critters. Had alot of partials and blanks as well from the wind and sun. I picked out all the fairly good buck pics to share with you guys and gals. I tried to clean them up but most of them just pixel out. If anyone cares to try and clean them up, let me know and I can send them via email. Thanks for looking and stay tuned for more in the future. This first set of 3 shows a beauty, but it was really foggy. This is either a 6pt or an 8pt and I only got the one shot of him. Here is the non-typical dude. He is still in full velvet too. I'd imagine he's having issues from an accident and hope maybe he keeps the velvet throughout the season. Would be a neat trophy for sure. And here is my little buddy. He was a spike last year and I saw him several times while on stand. He is growing nicely and its neat to see his progression.
  10. Awesome video man. Loved the ending! You gotta make sure you wipe your hands of the deercain before touching the camera, LOL!!!!
  11. My buddy sent me this picture last week. It was from a trail cam only 5 minutes from my house in Tioga County. The pic was actually taken in Broome County though. They are here and I am looking for them. I have a few arrows to help carry out the DEC's request to shot and kill all ferrel pigs. Anyone have a Miss Piggy decoy?
  12. And to think I shook both their hands on Saturday - I need some scent killer soap now!! LOL that was hilarious

    I Love Smallies

Hey I love smallies too!!! Sweet Old Bill , you better get down to the river as much as you can while the water is low. They are hitting like dynamite right now. Here is one I caught yesterday Aug. 1st in Vestal right where Tracy Creek drains at the end of the airport runway. Put the tape to it from my tackle box and it was 18" oh and caught it on the first cast of the day!!!
  14. Here is a pic from the trip. I'm in the Cape May shirt and the guy in green is my neighbor.
  15. Yeah it was a long drive but not just to see them, had some shooping in mind so I browsed. I did pick up a new sling for the 870 and looked at a new hunting coat. Broke the zipper on my old one and there is no fixing it.
  16. Hey all - I made the 2.5 hour drive from my place to Hamburg PA this morning to visit Cabelas. It was the big archery sale weekend and the boys from the Bone Collector TV show were there, Micheal Waddel, Nick Mundt, and T-Bone. What a great bunch of guys they were. They may seem like bigshots on TV and you may not agree with everything they do or say but believe me, they are just 3 down to earth fellas that love to hunt. They took time to talk to each and everyone there, take pictures and sign autographs. I thanked them for coming to visit all the fans and to keep the great sport of hunting and fishing alive for generations to come. It was well worth the trip and I even shopped a little for a few items for the upcoming season. Good day in my book!!!!
  17. Doc - you could always hide in the bushes and trip Wooly with a big stick and take his berries
  18. Hey all - I finally found my way over from NYDeer.com. I see some of my fellow hunters had joined ( Hey Eddie, Wooly, Bubba, and anyone I missed) so I figured I would check it out. I'm from Apalachin, NY in Tioga County. I bow hunt here in 7S and rifle hunt in 4W. I do some shotgunning as well here in 7S with my neighbor. I belong to a camp in 4W that is approx. 270+ acres and mostly mountain. Tough hunting but it is a great getaway from civilization. I just started charging my trail cam battery pack tonight so I can put it out this weekend. I'm getting the itch and its only July!!!! Look forward to posting a ton in the near future.
