  1. I would piss out of that stand as i was taking it down!! I f he want's to play around on the borders and shoot deer on others land, well he would have to find himself a new stand every couple weeks. I know its not right but hey fight fire with fire..
  2. Shawn dont forget about the saftey zone they opened on the mt morris end of the park. I saw a great 8pt taken out of that area but he was on the bottom. He had been hit in the front leg with an arrow early in the year and there was puss coming out of it. The guy was from pa that took the buck and he said the only shot he had was the texas heart shot and he took it. The buck went 30 yards and dropped. He was a 130 class 8pt. Awesome looking buck but i believe the way he was acting he might be full of infection through out his whole body. He was just kinda standing on the bottom kinda in a daze looking at the geese in the river!!
  3. Park police say it's ok but i sure would like to know what the rules are for sure. I dont know why you could'nt as long as you went by the big game rules with using reg season buck tags and such.
  4. If it's land you can be on then you should be fine!! Just use your head with weapon choice as if there are neighbors you dont want to be blasting away with a gun and he will most likley run after stuck with an arrow.... Kinda a tuff one but just use yur head!!!
  5. You bet..We just found out that we can bow hunt on letchworth while the shotguns are booming. The archery only area's of the park can be hunted. We just have to find out about tag's. I would think when regular season is open you still have to use your regular buck tag or any doe tag's. Shotgun hunt in the morning and bow in the afternoon...Can't get better then that!!!
  6. What a hunt that must have been. Really one acre!!!! I would like to know if the caretaker ownes the property to give someonr permision to hunt. In a freakin place like that for a hunt. I bet some folks that have loved ones buried in there are real happy about this and not to mention the gut pile!!! Please we really need this so called hunter to get on here and put his story on so mabay he can win a free mount... What a joke!!!!!
  7. There lies the problem!!! Someone can be parked on the road...NOT BREAKING THE LAW!! Someone can shine a light in your field.NOT BREAKING THE LAW AS LONG AS NOT WITHIN 500FT!! Then there is nothing you can do about it. You can call the law and they will come and tell YOU to get a life because it's NOT BREAKING THE LAW. Buck you see where this is going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S NOT BREAKING ANY LAW'S!! Everyone's hand's are tied and you will have to deal with it like everyone else does!! Right,Wrong or indifferent!!!
  8. Geeze its a good thing you don't ouw land or hunt where i do in the southern tier. When people are out spotlighting and you come down the road with your light they respect the other light and shut theirs off untill the other light passes. That's respect right their as you sure would'nt want to get that light shinein in your eye's. The law say's it's ok to do it and if you try something stupid to someone that shine's your property and they are within the law.....well now you are the law breaker!!! Just the way it is!!!!
  9. I went back and checked the harvest post!! From oct 23rd to Nov 2nd=14 harvest's....Nov 3rd to present=6 harvest.. I know the day i took my buck they were going nut-so. I have not seen to many buck's at our place. 17 doe's and fawn's in the bean's last night and not one horn!! Also had a doe and two fawn;s come out together in another field. Sure looked like they were her's but real hard to say that!!! Just seem's kinda slow around here and on the harvest thread!!!! Hope it starts slamin the next 10 days because i will be lost in the tree's!!!!
  10. Has anyone else noticed that the number"s of bow take has dropped of in the last week or so?? Seem's like the end of oct and first of nov there were 2 or 3 takes on here everyday. Early chase phase??? Buck's lockin up with doe's now??? What's your thought's!!! I am heading back to letchworth for a few day's of bow and then a few of shotgun...Hope thing's are still rollin down there!
  11. Not to shoot down a great deer but i heard that deer came from .....Well, I dont see a tag on it. I hope im just not seeing it and it's indeed a legit ny state buck!!!! Thats a brute!!!!
  12. I would rather have confidence than ignorance anyday. If you read the orignal post as everyone else did you would see it has nothing to do with any other wepon besides bow.. Take the number of gun hunters and then take the number of bow hunters... well i think you can figure it from there. The bow and gun fight will go on forever. The way i see it is everyone has the same right to pick up and learn how to use a bow, gun, muzzle, crossbow as anyone else.If they cant figure one of them out, can't do much about that.Bow vs gun for wounded deer....easy answer!! I have no problem with any law or season for crossbow. I welcome it!! My choice will be to not waste my time and money unless they have their own season. Choice's...isn't it nice to be in the good ol usa!!!
  13. I think those guys are what 308 was referring to... I have to say i can understand in a way... I think most of you are hot over him badmouthing bowhunters... some of you have even said similar stuff here referring to gun hunters... He made an observation and pointed it out... yeah he went overboard... but he wasn;t far off base with his general observation about the number of lost animals... we are all good at trusting that just because fellas post here about how much they practice and how ethical they are... that they actually are what they say they are... my experience tells me that with all the practice that a lot of hunters do with their bows or guns...they still don't seem to make the right choices when it comes to actually firing those weapons... I know fellas that are crack shots at the range that still shoot at running deer in the brush, take shots just outside their comfort zones, and are a bit too anxious about killing a deer at all costs... so although you might not like how 308 said it.. you all know that some of what he says is true I have no problem with what some of what he say's is true!!! I have a problem with him calling out bowhunter's as the problem. As i said before if it was possible to check numbers,i would bet as many deer are lost with guns on opening weekend of tier shotgun season then there is lost to both north and south bowhunters all season long!!! No doubt in my mind!!!
  14. Lock it up!!! Tired of dealing with him anyway's. We can use the space for some real hunter,That has real issue's!!!
  15. Well there now with that reply we can see what we are dealing with!! End of story...Enjoy your perfect gun season!!!!
  16. Thats what it's all about right there!!!! Great story and great service by yourself!!!!!!!!!
  17. You didnt say how old you are or how long you have hunted. I have 10 mounted so far that are 125 and above and an 8pt from this year that is just shy of 130in. That might seem like alot but i have hunted for 35 years and i have made it a point to go where the deer are and to always let a young buck walk. You can take does to fill the freezer is most areas. The ones you cant then by all means take a small buck. I guess im saying if you make it your all out effort to go where the deer are 100in will be an easy mark!!
  18. What an assnine statement. I could just about guarntee that on opening weekend of shotgun/rifle in the southern teir there are more deer wounded and run off to die or wounded and still hangin on for another day than there is wounded in the southern and northern zone bow all year!!. 308 that is such a joke!!! If you have never lost a deer in your life you need to become a hunters ed teacher or something. I suppose all the guys you hunt with all have perfect record's also. I would say just another disgruntled gun hunter that is pissed off because the bow's are in the wood's first. If that in fact is the case then you need to pick yurself up a bow and get out here with us. As good as you are with a gun,a bow should be no problem!!
  19. LoL That would be a good way to get a barn burnner goin on here. Just say that bow hunters are a bunch of non-caring bunch that just go out and wound deer and not think twice about it!!!! We all know just as many are wounded and run off with gun's..Only with guns we get to hear that rapid fire 5 shot unloading of the gun runnin across the field shot's.. On another note though there has been a few more posts than normal of wounded one's on here.We all have to be on our toes to wait for our best shot's and get a good clean arrow where it needs to be!!
  20. Pistol have you ever skinned a deer??? I ask this because there is a good 2in area between where the lungs lay in the chest and where the spine runs!!
  21. I dont think that statement even justifies a reply.. That dog could take on a fight in a few different way's. Im sure every bowhunter on this site would be wiling to rip into this one but me i think i will save my word's because god knows i dont stand a chance to fight someone with perfection!!!
  22. Looks like it would have been a great shot but he either aimed to high or the buck dropped alot at the shot!! Thus a high hit..That deer is still walkin and will most likely be shot with a shotgun in a couple weeks!!!
  23. Man i hope you guy's can put something together!!! She look's well behaved and very happy around other dog's. Hate to see any dog go down but the one's like her that have potential really suck's!!!
  24. Look's like they are just chillin untill the next room become's availible!!! Then it's game on!!!!!! Cool pic's!!!!!
  25. Great buck!! It all depends on your current situation. If you have the cash mount him up.If not you could always cape him and freeze and then do a different mount with the rack. Then mount later when things aren't so tight..Either way congrats on your first one and a good one at that!!
