send letters for crossbows in NY

It shoots a bolt, not an arrow, and is supported by the NRA which tells you something. Are we done yet? -

This thread is loaded with 20 pages of reasons. Bottom line, its a weapon more similar to a gun than anything else. i.e. scope, stock, trigger, locked and loaded, point and shoot......therefore it does not belong in the archery season. -
Very cool Oak. Thanks for sharing. I would rather watch a local hunter score over the hunting shows they put on tv these days.

Just trying to get your posts count up Sits? -
I remember Sal in Webster Fasteddie. That's where I took my bow course years ago and bought my first set up. What a mean SOB that guy way. It was like he hated life. I guess that can happen if you turn a sport or past time into work or a business.

I have seen some signs that are signed "Don't even ask" where the name is supposed to be.
-
Unfortunately, I don't think local authorities want to do the extra paperwork and show up in court for the appearance ticket. And you know the DEC, they want the herd reduced and don't seem to care if its done by trespassers. So how do we get them to do their jobs?

When you start trash talking, being rude and crude, it leaves no doubt in my mind what type of hunter will be attracted to the crossgun. -
I have been told by certain authorities that my land has to be properly posted before they will write any trespassing tickets. My land is posted but because of terrain in certain spots they might be further apart that the law perscribes. In other spots I can't keep the signs in place because the trespassers tear them down. Shouldn't these authorities be able to ticket trespassers I catch even if the land is not posted or posted lightly?

How am I emotional? You just don't like that I disagree with you. I can't debate further with you if you "rest your case" every time you get frustrated. Bringing the crossgun into archery season will shift a large portion of gun hunters into archery season which will bring the opening day atmosphere and pressure we see with gun season. Doubling the pressure during archery season with gun hunters toating crossguns is how the crossgun will effect me during archery season. -

Culver, I thought you rested your case and these discussions are a waste of your breath? Or is that just want you say when you can't back up your accusations and need to bail out? -

I would vote against any type of gun being included before or during the archery season. How is that imposing anything on anyone? -

It may soon be legal in regular season and I have no issue with that. -

I'm not imposing anything on anyone. Crossgun is illegal in archery season as it should be and I'm not trying to change anything. -

I am against anyone "Imposing" the crossgun on archery season or any other weapon that is not archery equipment. -
Rich, young people don't need a crossgun to participate in archery season. Contact any NYB member or go to any archery shop and I'm sure they will devote time and energy to get that person pointed in the right direction with archery equipment. If you are suggesting no special seasons at all and everyone use what they want, that is a bad idea. If you want to use a crossgun in archery season then I want to use my pistol during muzzleloader season.

That's what I thought. No proof. Just blowing alot of smoke.
-
Show me proof of these so called attacks before you slander an organization that has done so much good. I'm sure whatever you come up with will be defensive action rather than attacks. Your lone objective to push the crossgun agenda has clouded your judgment unfortunately.
-
Just because a person does not pay dues does not mean they don't support NYB positions. There are roughly 200,000 bowhunters and I expect 95% support NYB. You are probably in that 5%. It's like politics. I don't agree with everything the republicans do but its better than being a democrat.
-
1. Sportsmans groups(crossgun/ML) attacking other groups(archery) is nuts. NYB is doing nothing but defense. 2. NYB is the voice of most bowhunters until you can find me a better representative. 3. Like what? If they didn't make it they have maintained it for future generations.

Do you wear Orange? If so why? If not Why not? :)
Chevy replied to TheHunter's topic in General Hunting
I wear an orange vest and hat during gun season only. Foolish not to. I have heard deer see some colors like blues but not orange. What they can see is a large chuck of the same pattern which is not natural and spooks them. That's why they sell camo orange. If the deer gets close enough during gun season to see my orange, its a dead deer anyway. -
NY'ers can now use a DRAW LOCK???

One of the sharks is circling me. Relax Steve the weekend is almost here. My perception is my proof. -

It's like they smell blood in the water. The sharks are closing in for the kill. Guys, archery season is not up for grabs. Let's talk about something else. -
Not to turn the discussion, but my experience with DEC and trespassers is that they(DEC) are not willing to do much unless you have some influence or pull becuase they want as many deer killed as possible even if the trespassers have to do it. That is how they deal with land access problems. Sad but true.
