  4. Rumor has it that California Hill might have some birds
  5. No one I know locally hunts...so basically I hunt alone. I tell my wife where and when I go and what time I am expected back and we stay in contact with texting. I met Wztiren and we hunt the same woods so I guess I no longer hunt alone.
  6. I've done both beer and wine. I stopped beer because I hated washing and sterilizing the bottles! I found a smaller kit I think it was Mr.Beer. I also made a Chardonay, which ended up cloudy and watery.
  7. Where are the deer!? heard some yotes howling around 6 am. other than that very quiet. As I was driving home, local DEC ranger was making his rounds!
  8. Last sunday an older gentleman came walking through in full camo...he blended in quite nicely with the woods. Now this is state land. His slow steady walking did catch my attention and thought to myself..."what an idiot"
  9. Hmm...great idea to bring your sister in law to hep drag the deer out!! Congrats on the deer hopefully Ill have your luck tomarrow!
  10. pudding it was...got there a bit later than I wanted to. I still have little kids in the house!
  11. I sat, sat and sat some more. nary a deer on a beautiful sunday.
  12. ok good I might be sitting in a tree off the pudding st. parking lot...stop by say hi...quietly lol!
  13. Has anyone been up there for archery?
  14. Good idea! the permit is free or a very small fee can't remember at most 5 bucks. But there are antler restrictions at a lot of the Putnam areas
  15. there are 2 areas that I know of, both are off the Taconic...one is at the Taconic/Tyrell rd junction. nice big area have seen few deer there. there is another further up right off the taconic forget the name, open fields with thick dense brush. check the DEC maps for more detail
  16. put your time in and before you know it you'll get good at it. I too am far from good!
  17. Absolutely scout your area you plan to hunt. I guess it is first come first serve when getting out there. If I am set up and another hunter comes by, I try to get his attention give a wave or a whistle so he knows I am there! If see a hunter and you are passing through, out of respect, I try to circumnavigate the area to get to my area
  18. State Land for me, I don't mind as long as it isn't too busy...hanging out in Putnam Co. these days
