Yep, releasing these balloons is basically littering. Just because they go up before they hit my woods is neither here nor there.

Had a good feeling about today. Something was in the air. About 10:30 I had a bird on the gobble for about 20 minutes. He came in, but not close enough for a look. I decided to sit the last half hour on a gas-line. There is a Hollow that often has Turkey milling about in it. I get down to it, there is a very large Doe in the hollow munching away. Often deer and turkey congregate here. It seems a good sign. Sure enough a Hen pops out of the woods into the gas-line. Sometimes Tom's hang back and come out a little later if the coast seems clear. The doe beds down almost directly opposite me on the other side of the gasline. Disaster! I need to get closer to the Hollow. So I start slowly sidling my way down along the edge of the trees next to the cleared gas-line. As I figured, the Doe bolts off and scares away the Turkey. Last time I sat that spot trespassers did the same things. Rats!

Headin out in 5. Surely today is the day!

I can't remember last weekend for cryin out loud! Needs me a memory shelf.

Nothin moving today.

Managed an a hour n half. Saw a head bobbing at about 70 yards, a hen I think. Otherwise very quiet. Neighbor was scratching away at his slate above me in the field.

Volunteering with the local food pantry this morning. Might get in for the last hour. We'll see.

Had gobbles at 10 am and 11 am, but the distance was such that I did not anticipate an encounter. I was correct. Still activity in dem der woods tho. woot woot!

This is my experience thus far. Have had to try and pattern them to a particular part of my neighbors wood lot.Have come close twice.

Late start. Heading out for 9 am. Going back to the ambush pinch point. Today is the day!

Came close again today. A nice bachelor group passed me at 50 yards after a brief back n forth on the calls. No interest in the decoy hen about 20 yards in front of me however. They kept motoring. I attempted to cut them off, had an idea where they were going. Got busted after I had gotten in front of them. Too impatient, got too close too soon.

I lost my second tru glo front sight yesterday. Those things are not built for the outdoors. A small knock against a sapling and it flew off into the leaf litter. I had the thing super-glued on to hell too after the last incident. Sticking with old fashioned beads from now on.
