OK if you look at the map at the present distribution of the wolf subspecies. The bright green in the eastern part if north america says eastern timber wolf. So yes this does mention the eastern timber wolf as a subspecies of the gray wolf. A timber wolf is not a subspecies it is the same as a gray wolf. The EASTERN timber wolf is the subspecies.

well the arctic wolf is a subspecies of the gray wolf too, just like the eastern timber wolf.

And again the except is for non rifle deer areas you have to keep reading all of it, stop picking parts and leaving parts out. I'm sorry reading comprehension is hard for some. To me it is written very clear. I'm done arguing the point. -

No, you aren't reading the whole sentence. I underlined the important parts, the sentence ends all the way at where it say prohibited rifle areas during deer season. This is why people are getting confused. You can't just read the first half of the sentence and end it there, it keeps going. That is where it says you CAN right in the beginning, all the way to where it says where rifles are prohibited during deer season. Read the whole sentence not just half of it. And where did you quote this from it is written very simple and clear on the online regs book. It clearly says you can hunt forbearers with a rifle in a rifle deer area. -
From what I understand Eastern timber wolves are a subspecies of gray wolves. But Gray wolves are not all Eastern Timber wolves. So they technically are not the same thing. A gray wolf in western Canada is not an eastern timber wolf. But I think they call gray wolves Timber wolves, I think they are the same thing. A timber wolf in western Canada is a Gray wolf.

No way am I going to quit. You forgot a statewide AR too. Not to lie I would probably not drive to a check in station unless it was right up my road. I can't see people driving to them, what a waste of time and gas.

That whole first part is one sentence. You keep breaking it up to make it confusing. You have to read it all together, as soon as you break it up you are taking what they are trying to say out of context. So yes it clearly says you can hunt furbearers with any caliber rifle. Again, the except part is only for areas where rifles are prohibited during deer season. -

ok I will try to make this simple. The first line clearly says you can hunt with any caliber rifle. The next lines are talking about areas that you cannot use a rifle during deer season. So if you are in an area where you CAN use a rifle during deer season you do not have to worry about any of those words. If you are in a rifle prohibited area for deer you have to use a caliber smaller than .22 to hunt furbearers during deer season. Also I am not sure where the OP got this wording from in the online reg book it is written in much simpler English and clearly states that you can hunt with a rifle in areas that have rifle for deer. Maybe you should read that to clear up what you are confused about. -

There. -
Well if I had to worry about getting sued for helping a neighbor out I might think about living somewhere else. But this probably does happen, I don't know what to tell ya I would never worry about that way up North where I am.

Man am I glad I live where non tillable goes for 500 an acre or less. Our land was bought a long time ago when it was not worth much so in that regard we can justify not going into certain areas. Like you say though you have to have enough acreage to make sanctuaries worth it. Ours work for us because there is so much hunting pressure from our neighbors that they feel comfortable on our sanctuaries and stay on our land. However I know if we had less land I would be leaving a spot alone for the beginning of the season then hitting it hard during the rut. I still think it is best to hunt the trails in between the sanctuaries. Also I think if you have a spot were you jump deer going to it, or always are getting busted because of the wind that it is best to make this a sanctuary.

Guy gets a lesson on when a deer is actually down.

What an idiot. He says its still breathing yet doesn't finish the deer off. -
Haaaaa. The town never fixes our driveway that they tear up every year with the plow. Or the huge layer of sod that they tear up and throw on our lawn.
-
We have them, and yes they are of great value. Ours need some work done to make them better, they need more cover. Ours are rather big, 4 acres to 30 + acres. If you want older aged class deer you need a lot of sanctuary acres. They should be enhanced to provide the most cover as possible so the deer feel secure, but don't have to be. One of our sanctuaries where a buck lives is a 10 acre wetland. As long as you don't go in an area it becomes a sanctuary. Hunt the trails between the sanctuaries.

Ya I am a little confused on why you are confused. There is no grey area it is written clear. Like Shawnhu said you have to read the whole thing you cannot just read one sentence, it is clearly written as to what you can and cannot do in areas where hunting with a rifle during deer season is prohibited. -
Any one trying something......

Good combo Obama. What I have found works good is to plant my clover with my brassicas. The brassicas come up fast and thick shadowing the weeds, it is a great cover for the clover. The clover will come up good in the spring. -
Now that is a successful stand! How often does this stand get hunted, must be a lot to get that kind of results?

I have always wondered how broccoli would do. I love brassicas and have great success with them. I did experiment a little but now I just go with what I know works. Clover, alfalfa, radishes, turnips, soybeans and corn. -
Its amazing what a difference being only a 100 ft away from one spot makes.
-
Grow the stand that I have mentioned is wrong with the wind too. I actually moved the stand to the other side yesterday, now it will be my ultimate killer stand. I am excited for next year to see how it produces. If it was 3 for 3 with does with the wind wrong I think now being downwind I could actually get the big boy.
-
Ha, the addition is great except the old man needs to finish up so trim and some odd ends. Besides that it has been wonderful.

I was thinking about new stand locations for next season, I think I might have a problem but that's besides the point, and was curious to other hunters successful stand locations. Developing a good stand is one of my favorite parts to hunting, and I love how you might be in a good spot but the best spot could be the tree 10 or 20 yards away. My most successful stand took a while to develop. We had a knoll with a dozen or more wild apple trees on it but it was all grown up to junk. After a lot of chainsaw work and a lot of cow manure, and some lime the knoll is now a 60 yard wide circle with the apple trees all pruned and clover planted. This knoll sits next to some very good cover. The stand was put up three years ago and I have been 3 for 3 on does all on Sep 27th, the opening day for bow in the NZ. This is hands down my most successful stand, what is yours?

My brother in law shot a decent 8 point in the foothills of the ADKs, got it aged it was 6 1/2. So much cover and territory where their camp is the deer have lots of places to hide and get old.

Seems pretty clear to me. Can't use a rifle in a non rifle area during deer season to hunt furbearers.
