  1. Who has the Smith and Wesson Body Guard? I am seriously considering getting one. My issue is I have tried a Ruger LCP and I hated everything about it and I am afraid that I will feel the same way about the Body Guard. I really like the Sig Sauer P238 but it is a little heavy and almost double the price of the Body Guard. Those of you that have the Body Guard do you recommend it? Anyone fire both the LCP and Body Guard that can give me an opinion on which is better?
  2. It is too bad our framers didn't have the intuition to ad to the constitution that the government can't spend more than it takes in. They must be rolling in their graves.
  3. Well Cabela's has a new rifle on order for me. We will see how long this takes this time. At least they are taking care of things for me. (although nowhere near as fast as I would like) To the person that asked, Yes, they took care of shipping too and from. Hopefully this is resolved by Deer season.
  4. No I haven't touched anything on it. Is there a spec it should be at?
  5. All of the conversations I had were with Cabela's not Browning. Most of my conversations were that Browning was behind and they had not looked at it yet. When they did finally tell me they looked at it they said the gunsmith checked all the tolerances etc and sent it to the shooting range. They were not happy with the results and it went back to the gunsmith. The next conversation was the gun is done and they are shipping it back. I asked what they did and Cabela's didn't know. I didn't receive any test targets or info from Browning or Cabela's when I received the rifle back. I called Cabela's and inquired about that and they said Browning should have sent test targets but they didn't. That is all I know. As for the rings and bases I don't know what brand they are. They are what the gunshop put on when I purchased the scope and had it mounted by the shop. This whole ordeal has been very disappointing. That BAR is a rifle I have wanted for a long time...now I wish I never made the purchase.
  6. Well I got my Rifle back on Friday. Went to the range Saturday afternoon with a buddy of mine. Tried two different kinds of Ammo @ 50 yds. Remington 150 Grain Grouped about two inches off the bench with my Cauldwell sled. Fusion 165 Grain tightened up a hair but not much. I am very discouraged that Browning had the rifle all this time and felt these groups were acceptable enough to send the rifle back to me. Although it is better as far as I am concerned it isn't good enough. The real kick in the paints was I took a few shots with my buddies Ruger American 30-06 off the same bench and sled and was able to cloverleaf a single hole. Nothing like having a cheap $300 dollar gun outshoot your thousand dollar gun. Cabela's told me they would exchange the rifle when they got one in but at this point I am wondering with the customer service and Browning letting this Subpar rifle go back out if I want to stick with another Browning. Any recommendations on a different Rifle in the $1000 dollar range? I really want a semi auto. (figure I need to get it now before they come up with some new law that outlaws them as well) Anyone shoot the Benelli?
  7. Thank you for all the replies. Looking forward to putting the advise to work in a couple of weeks.
  8. Last year was my first try ever at Turkey. Went out on Stateland, no decoys, no blind, just myself and buddy and a boxcall. I was able to see one lone hen. I don't know if she strolled through or heard the call. I would like to get more serious about it this year. Do you need decoys? Do you need a blind? Do you need more than one call? How do you locate Turkeys? I know they make owl and crow calls. Do you just walk around in the dark hammering them tell you hear a response and then set up? I have hunted deer and small game for years and I have never heard a turkey on a roust in a tree. I have seen Turkeys numerous times while deer hunting. Does that mean they are there in the spring? I wish the TV shows would be more informative and not just setting up on multiple birds and blasting them. Is there a instructional video on locating birds? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  9. Anyone have any experience with this stand? It is a little pricey but I love idea of the nylon mesh seats that fold up and the huge platform that goes all the way back to the tree. It would also be perfect for when my daughter wants to go with me.
  10. Well it is suppose to be fixed. They are shipping it back to me today.....we will see how it goes when I receive it.................
  11. That one looks great! do you know how much it was? They are sold out at the link you posted so there wasn't a price listed....
  12. There is State Forest up off of Route 29. Probably 30-45 from Clifton Park. I hunted there last spring opening Day and saw one lone hen which I thought was weird. There wasn't anyone else there. I will be hunting on our lease this spring so I won't be there. I believe it is called Daketown State Forest.
  13. We are expanding our lease this year and I want to pick up a couple of ladder stands. We have them spread out on the property but they are all they cheap ones from Dicks. I don't feel safe on that little seat so I strap myself in like I am wearing a seatbelt which obviously isn't very good for bow hunting or rife hunting but there is no way I am standing up on that little step you rest your feet on. I always tell people I am not afraid of heights I am afraid of falling. I can be 50 feet up and it wouldn't bother me if I felt like I wasn't going to fall. Is there any ladder stands with say a 3ft x 3ft platform and a comfortable seat that might fold up? If bar came down would be a plus as well. I would like to get something and get it out there this spring so the deer are don't pay any attention too it this coming fall......
  14. I really want to stick with the .308. I have another Bolt Action .308 and I love the caliber. I am sure it will all get straightened out eventually. Thank you for all the replies. I will update when I have more info....
  15. They said they will start building them again in May and I should be able to get a new one after that. They said the will ship my rifle back to me and then when new ones are available they will swap it out. I just can't imagine what is so wrong with this rifle that they can't fix it in a reasonable amount of time. Swap out the barrel or whatever. I guess I should just be glad they didn't tell me that they didn't find any problems and send it back to me. I was worried they would tell me it was my shooting and that the gun was fine.
  16. I can't believe how long of an ordeal this has become. I guess the Browning Guns smith finished with the rifle sent it to be test fired and it still will not shoot straight so it is back to the gunsmith. They told me another couple of weeks at least. I never thought this would be a 4 month soon to be 5 month ordeal. They offered me a new one and I said I am fine with that and then they told me none were available.
  17. Looking at the .380 just because I want something very compact.
  18. I have been seriously thinking about starting to carry. I currently don't. I have been running a Gas Station for 15 years now and luckily I have never had a problem but that doesn't mean I won't. Both of the pistols I own are full frame and would be very hard and uncomfortable to conceal. I have been looking at the Ruger LCP .380 (I have shot this before and don't really care for it) The Smith and Wesson Body Guard .380 (never shot one) and the Sig Sauer P238 .380. (I have fired this gun before and loved it but it is double the price of the others) The Sig is a really nice piece and could be used at the range as well. The other two seem like inaccurate personal protection throw away guns. Although I have never fired the body guard, maybe it is really nice. Any suggestions? Any info on the body guard?
  19. I just had a nice buck run in front of my truck. It was with a group of about 8-10 doe. I was shocked that it still had its antlers in March. That typically isn't normal is it?
  20. Brand new (never been fired). I am hoping Browning will straighten it out. Everything I read on here, research before the purchase etc has all been positive. I am assuming a company like Browning will make it right and I will be very happy for a long time once this is straightened out.....Just aggravated that I need to go through this....
  21. It isn't the scope, That was the first thing I thought of and I threw the scope from my AR on it quick and got the same result.
  22. I tried Remington Core Lock 150 Grain, Remington 150 Grain FMJ, Fusion 150 Grain and 165 or 168, Barnes and Hornady can't remember what grains and some 165 grain Match ammo that my local gun store had me try. Nothing heavier. Everything I read about the BAR before the purchase was positive. I am hoping it will get straightened out. It is so bad I thought maybe it had the wrong barrel on it. Hopefully when I get it back I will be very happy with it for a long time.
  23. I purchased a Browning BAR .308 last Sept at Cabela's. I have wanted one for a long time and figured with the Safe Act who knows whats next so I made the purchase. I topped it with a Nikon Prostaff with BDC and went to the range. I was very disappointed. I tried sighting the rifle in at 50 yds and had a hard time getting 3 inch groups. I tried different Ammo Brands, grains etc. Hunting season was upon us and I did take a deer with it but I limited myself to a 50 yd range due to such poor accuracy. After hunting season I played with it some more at the range and tried everything I could think of. This guns accuracy is so poor that I have not even tried it at 100 yds fearing I would miss the target. My old Remington 600 .308 that my father gave me would put the bullet through the same hole at 50 yds and easily hold less than an inch at 100 yds off my Caldwell sled. I expected the same out of a 40 year newer Browning. I gave up on the rifle and talked to the firearms manager at Cabela's and sent it back to them. They have now sent it to Browning and I am waiting on word of what is being done at this point. It really stinks when something you have wanted so long turns out to be so bad. Anyone ever run into accuracy issues with a brand new firearm? What was the result?
  24. Here about it? How would we hear about it, that isn't news worthy......... Not sure how to do sarcasm font.....
  25. Quite a few did. I looked it up when the bill went through. All down state RINO's. Or Cuomo's republicans. What is sickening is he is right. We don't have a voice that is strong enough that it needs to be listened to. Downstate controls this state whether we like it or not and we will never over come that.....
