  1. I don't have any pictures to post. The pics are on the card that is in the camera in the middle of the woods. I won't retrieve it until next weekend. I went to pull the card last sunday and the card was defective and it didn't take a single pic. The only other card I had was the one I kept a few pictures on. I deleted all the pics off nothing anyway....The camera is in a new location with less weeds and I did a better job of clearing small branches etc away from the camera. Hoping for better results.....
  2. Thank you very much....I ordered both of those and a couple other things as well. Thank you for the promo code as well....Sure can't beat the price...I hope the stuff works well.
  3. UnderArmor Cold gear 4.0 is $200 for the set. If it didn't work damn good I would be really upset. I don't want to spend that much and the don't make their stuff to fit short chubby guys like myself....
  4. I used them last year....I never took a shot on a deer so they are still brand new but I purchased some NAP killzones because I hated the way the Rage opened up so easily. They opened in my quiver, they opened while siting in my bow while hanging on the hook in the stand. I wondered if they would ever survive the flight staying closed so I am trying something different.
  5. This was inspired by another topic by another poster. I am wondering what you guys wear for a base layer when it is cold outside. I want to get away from the cotton longjohns but I am not spending the money on UnderArmor cold gear and I hate the way that tight stuff fits. You guys know of any reasonably priced moisture wicking base layers....I want to use it for Hunting and Snowmobiling.....
  6. I snowmobile there all the time. ( I have never hunted) I have a picture somewhere of a 6 pt eating crackers out of my hand. They used to feed them at the big T a few years back. The trail groomer would drop feed and it wouldn't be uncommon to pull up on you sled and have 30 or 40 deer walking around. Now that they are no longer aloud to feed them it has been years since I have seen any deer up there.
  7. Thanks for the replies. I put the camera in a different place yesterday to see if anything changes. I am positive it wasn't on time lapse. It basically took pictures from me walking away to me walking back up to it almost non stop. Very few night pics, tons and tons of day pics. While it was in the sun somewhat it wasn't in the direct sunlight. I am not sure how much that matters. I am thinking it might be the wind. (it was in a pretty brushy weedy area) The only setting I changed from default was I set it to take two pic in a sequence. I figured if one was blurry the second on might be more clear so the 1800+ pictures would have been cut in half if not on that setting. In reading the manual and scrolling through the menu I didn't notice a setting for sensitivity. Now that you have mentioned it that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You would think there would be a sensitivity setting. I wish I turned the two sequential pictures off while I was at the camera but I didn't. I just pulled the card and put another one in. I probably won't be back to the camera until the beginning of bow so it will be interesting to see how it goes these next two weeks.....
  8. I purchased my first Game camera a couple of weeks ago. It is a Moultrie D333. I put it out a week ago Sunday about 30 yds from my tree stand. I was at the property yesterday and switched cards. I had 1833 pictures on the card. Roughly 1800 of the pictures were of nothing. I had a few pictures of a fox, some raccoons and a small fawn and mother. Nothing great but still cool to see. Is it normal to get 1800 pictures of nothing? Is that caused by the wind? Is there something I can do to eliminate some of the pictures of nothing? I don't have any trail camera experience. It does have a pretty slow trigger speed of 1.5 seconds so I am sure I missed some shots but not 1800. It was almost like it was on timelapse but I am sure it wasn't. Any suggestions? Is this what you guys run into with your trail camera's? At the rate the camera was taking pictures I would need the biggest SD card I could purchase to leave it out there for a month... Thanks
  9. This kind of thing always bothers me when I read it. If you don't like a post don't read it. It is that simple....I have gotten a lot of good information and links off this forum that I would have never seen had someone not posted about it. If all you are interested in his hunting, only read those threads.
  10. For half the price of what you are looking at I am not sure how you could beat the Ruger American. My buddy just picked one up and it is a great rifle.. The accuracy was really really impressive to me for such a low cost option. I am considering getting one for a back up rifle.
  11. I have never really thought much about it. I guess I would have to say no. If I could move my Job family and friends to a less libral state I would do it tomorrow, but NY has many good things. 4 seasons. You don't have to worry to much about extreme weather. You can go from a City with tons to do to the middle of the sticks with a short drive. Beautiful Lakes and mountains. I guess I wish the state would change more than I would like to change states.
  12. Good luck, at least you are having action. I haven't heard a gobble since opening day.....
  13. I wanted to get a verifier lens last year. What you stated was exactly what I experienced. The bow shop I deal with was nice enough to install one for me and let me try it. It made the target blurry. I didn't end up getting it. Maybe a shop can put one in for you and let you try it and see how it is for you....I know the shop owner is shooting one and loves it....
  14. Welcome and Thank you for your service
  15. Thank you, looks good enough for me. I am going to try it for the money it can't hurt.....
  16. Tractor Supply.....I believe it was an IR Camera
  17. Anyone have any experience with this camera? A store near me has them on clearance for $34.99. I am thinking of grabbing a few of them but I can't find any reviews on them anywhere and I know people have had mixed luck with the wild game trail cams. These would be my first trail camera's....
  18. 4K, had a hen almost immediately feeding around me all morning. Called in a Tom who was much more interested in the real hen then my decoys. Never got a shot but it was a fun morning...
  19. Awesome day yesterday but I couldn't close the deal.....To make a long story short my morning started right off with action and the action didn't end until I had to give up at noon but I couldn't close the deal. Right at 5:45 yesterday I hit the turkey call and immediately got another call back (a hen) and I thought damn I am set right up on someone else that calls as bad as I do and now they won't shut up. I have been told that you don't call that much. About 2 min later this hen comes in and starts walking around the decoys and she is making constant continuous noise. I said to my buddy how can you overcall when this thing is talking non stop? Anyway everytime she started working away I would hit the call and she would come around back and basically hung out there all morning. No better decoy than the real thing I thought. About 8:00 in the morning my buddy and I were talking about the fact that if there were any Toms in the area the hen would have brought him in by now. Just then my buddy asked if I heard that? ( I didn't) He said I heard a gobble....Then I listened really hard and I heard it again in the distance. Our two hen decoys were set up about 20 yard in front of us and the real hen was about 20 yds beyond that but had ben silent for a while. I hit the call and again we hear the gobble a little closer. We were sitting in hardwoods about 30 yds off the power line. Finally we catch a glimpse of the gobbler. This is my first time having even seeing a Tom in the woods so to me the bird seemed huge! I don't know if it was a really big one or just seemed big but he was about 4 times the size of the hen. He gobbled and gobbled and strutted for that hen basically all morning but he would not come in any closer than about 60 yds. We watched him all morning as he tried and tried to draw interest from that hen but the hen just ignored him. We would call, he would gobble, all while the hen ignored him. Is there anything we could have done that would have made him leave that hen and close the distance and come to our decoys? He never gave us a shot we felt ok taking. Maybe if it was an open field. We backed out at noon and he was still working that hen...I actually feel like having the real hen ended up hurting us because once he saw her I am not even sure if he saw the decoys. Anyway it was really really exciting and now I am hooked. I can't wait to get back out there.....
  20. That's what I am asking....How do you do that? Walk around calling waiting for a response from a bird? Do you use a turkey call? Should I use my crow call even if it is late morning?
  21. I am hunting on just shy of 1000 acres. 400 on one side and 600 on the other with a strip in the middle I don't have permission to hunt on....
  22. Yea, I thought of that and set it up in the garage when I got home last night. Sets up in about 2 seconds...Taking it down and getting it back in the bag was another story...
  23. Trying to decide if I want to take the matte finish 870 with optics or my 1187 with just a beed.
  24. Ok so I am very green at Turkey hunting. My plan is to be in and set up tomorrow morning before 5am with a couple of hen decoys out sitting in my blind I just picked up last night. So my question is, how long do I give it before I move out? What tactic do you use for "run and gun"? Do you just walk around hitting the call hoping for a response? I have found some scratched up ground in several area's scouting but have not gotten any answers from roosting birds and I have not seen any birds while scouting....
