  1. Awww... Steve why the hate, calling me an idiot.. My agenda has been the same from day one, deer herd mangement and proper age structure. Your immaturity matches the immature bucks you've been mowing down all these years.
  2. Interesting... The last few bucks taken off our property weighed in at 180 and 190 respectively... As I said before, the local butcher needed to buy bigger boxes. All thanks to AR, and letting the little guys walk. Same here!
  3. Corrected this for you. Please voice your opinion to the DEC about this in SUPPORT as I and others already have. As you probably know, they are proposing AR's to even more DMU's under their new plans. The more people we have speak up, the more we can counter these so called "sportsmen" that think they know what they are talking about despite the proven fact that AR works. The concept of deer management has been proven to work in other states as it will and has in this state. [email protected]
  4. I'm not, pay attention there skipper and troll some other thread.
  5. No, the real issue is your failure to understand why this biology you keep touting was ever developed in the first place. If it weren't for the greater benefits that the hunter might potentially get from it, it would have NEVER even been devised. So maybe you ought to "read, learn and understand" with a more skeptical mind. Keep trying to cover up that brown it down old school ignorant mentality.
  6. Yes, allowing those little guys to pass will allow them to grow over. Yes some will be harvested the next year and some will go on to be 3+. One year of passing on a 1.5 if AR is implemented in your area and you can go shoot those deer that are now 2.5's. I think the real issue is your brown its down mentality and failure to read, learn and understand deer biology.
  7. My letter has already been sent in support. The DEC job is not to JUST control the population. Where do you hunt? In any of these proposed area's? My guess is no.
  8. Sportsmen announced today that they strongly support the NYSDEC Deer Management Plan’s continuation in existing areas and expansion of yearling buck protection for the 2012 season. The proposed hunting changes will expand the existing yearling buck protection with antler restrictions to include seven additional Wildlife Management Units (WMUs). How Yearling Buck Protection with Antler Restrictions is addressed in the Draft Deer Management Plan: David Hartman, President of New York State Whitetail Management Coalition (NYSWMC), stated, “We are pleased that the Department recognizes that the plan can offer multiple models for Yearling Buck management. Hunters' attitudes can vary widely from one end of the state to the other. The Department seems to understand that there has to be some latitude when dealing with regional and local issues." Hartman added, “We commend Commissioner Martens and the DEC staff for incorporating the retention and expansion of Yearling Buck Protection with Antler Restrictions beginning with the 2012 season in the Draft Deer Management Plan. We look forward to working with the Department as they adopt and implement this program.” Bill Willis spokesman for the Five County Coalition of Sportsmen and member of the Delaware County Department of Economic Development stated “Five counties in South Eastern NY, Sullivan, Ulster, Delaware, Greene and Schoharie have proposed yearling buck protection with antler restrictions for the last three years. We are glad to see that the DEC has incorporated this request in the Deer Management Plan. He added based on DEC’s survey of hunters who went afield in the proposed units, 67% of the hunters in the affected area supported antler restrictions. “Antler Restrictions have overwhelming support from the communities and are a local home rule issue.” Les Armstrong, Co-Chairman of the New York State Conservation Council (NYSCC) Archery Committee, Greene County Federation of Sportsmen, NY Deer and Elk Farmers Association and Vice Chair Hudson Mohawk RCD stated, “The NYSCC Archery Committee voted to recommend that members vote in favor of Five Resolutions promoting Yearling Buck Protection with Antler Restrictions at this year’s April meeting. He added the NYSCC Big Game committee also supported all five resolutions. “After the DEC confirmed the dramatic improvement in buck harvest composition in the pilot areas, members chose to embrace the modern deer management taking hold in 21 other states.” How Yearling Buck Protection with Antler Restrictions is working in New York: “The current Antler Restriction Program is fully achieving the sportsmen’s goal of protecting yearling bucks. Yearling Bucks comprise only 15% of the total harvest and the balance 85%, is adults 2.5 years and older. The harvest of 3.5 year old bucks is up to 36% of the total harvest, a 258% increase. Sullivan and Ulster Federations in the area support continuing and expanding the Antler Restriction Program and DEC surveys found that a majority of sportsmen want to continue the AR program” said David Hartman, President of NYSWMC. (See our report Yearling Buck Conservation with Antler Restrictions) Jay Martin, Big Game Chairman for Ulster County Federation, pointed out, “According to DEC data, deer numbers were at very low levels when the pilot AR programs were first implemented. We have experienced a resurgence of both deer numbers and as the harvest data clearly shows, we now have a much better balanced age structure in our buck population.” Tom Yager of the Sullivan County Federation explained that “Sullivan County has shown the best results with the antler restriction program. The best results have been observed in WMU 3H, where buck harvest numbers are back to pre AR levels and hunters are harvesting significantly more mature bucks. This is a direct result of the regulation to protect yearling bucks and very low doe tags issued at the start of the program.” Forest Darder of the Sullivan County Federation stated, “Most importantly buck hunter satisfaction has increased for 56% of the hunters in Sullivan County as a result of the Antler Restrictions according to Cornell 2011 Survey.” He added that “the survey found that 70.5% of Sullivan County Hunters wish to continue the Antler Restriction program as is.” “I have never seen a single white-tailed deer management program that has invigorated and excited hunters more. Hunters in the current AR areas are hunting a deer herd that many generations of NY hunters have never experienced” stated Dick Henry a recently retired New York DEC biologist. David Hartman, President of New York State Whitetail Management Coalition added “Both Ulster and Sullivan Counties have harvested the biggest bucks since the late 1920’s in the Antler Restrictions areas.”
  9. Please go crawl under a rock where you belong... You don't even reference the post your referring to..... Not that it matters because all of your comments are worthless.
  10. If people like you would let the youngins walk there wouldn't be a need for AR.
  11. How is this different from a food plot.. Its not.
  12. So that is the basis for your opinions....you want it EASY? Kind of takes away the special nature of bagging a great buck ....doesn't it? Where does it stop....if everyone could go out and kill a 120 buck....then a 140...then 160...what next...genetic manipulation to grow bigger racks? Its not about being easy. If you read what people said that are pro AR, they are speaking for their area's where larger bucks are nearly non-existant. It's about giving the deer a chance to survive and grow older.... Is every 2.5 going to live to 4+, absolutely not... Is every 1.5 covered by AR, nope... Is it better then nothing, absolutely...
  13. Agreed, horrible, hope he gets better soon... Sending a check tomorrow.
  14. Wow! Awesome deer to everyone! And Culver, that is one big buck. Congrats.

  16. OMG! Someone not talking out of their a$$ stuffed in a locker! Thanks fairgame... Its nice to hear from those in the area that do not speak for area's that they do not hunt in nor have any hunting experience in... I'm so tired of hearing BS from those who want to spread their FUD on our areas where they have not nor ever will hunt in. Thanks.
  17. Obviously you got out of the locker, so there is no issue to talk about. I'm not imposing anything on you and your hunting area you ignorant fool. If you paid attention to 1/2 of what was posted I was speaking for my area and area's where AR / Management would benefit. That's is great that you no longer shoot 1.5's, its a shame you did not shoot them from the beginning and give them a chance to grow, but I do not fault you for that choice. I'm speaking for my area, where a majority agree with AR, where the majority would like to have the opportunity to harvest an older buck, where those do not exist because of hunting pressure or unfavorable conditions. Where do you hunt? Oh..thats right not in my area where I am speaking of. Save your BS for those who want to eat it, which is not in Sullivan County thats for sure.
  18. Listen, I already told you I am sorry for stuffing your a$$ in a locker.. I'm sorry, it was a phase I was going through where I put those who had zero intelligence to rest. Again, I'm sorry. My attitude is fine, its you guys with the ignorance you bring that hauls the negativity. You fail to see what works and only look at the area's YOU HUNT with disregard to all other area's where AR or some type of management is needed... Thanks for clearing that up there "Hunt Club".
  19. Your spelling was fine, however my criticism goes beyond that... It has to to with competency and intelligence, of which Larry has none of. He has done a fine job of demonstrating that multiple times with his ignorance regarding deer management and the health of the herd in NY.
  20. Yup, more facts these guys can't seem to understand.
  21. Your another winner... The only thing I copy and pasted were facts. Ones you can't understand or comprehend, pretty sad.
  22. You and your views are pathetic. pa·thet·ic/pəˈTHetik 1. Arousing pity, esp. through vulnerability or sadness. 2. Miserably inadequate.
  23. Nice use of punctuation. A+++! It's just like your math calculations on decrease of percentages... Stop hijacking this thread with your garbage.
