  1. Sorry- should have been more clear- I had the bow in hand when he was at 20 but let him go as he is 2-3 years old.
  2. This 10 point came by at 20 yards and I was only able to get the camera out after he started walking away. Beautiful young buck. These 2 bucks were at 10 yards when working the scrape!
  3. I'll pass this all along. I'll let you know the age if I find out.
  4. Here's a buck a family friend got with a ML over the weekend. 8 points, 198# field dressed.
  5. This is me . I am also a hockey player. Stanley Cup/ big buck, same idea.
  6. I cannot express my envy of those that are shivering in trees this morning. I have to be at the farm and tend to the mothers this weekend though.
  7. We must know eachother? This 10 is actually quite a ways from where I live. I do like a double patch though.
  8. No double throat patch- what effect would that have?
  9. Thanks for all of the good luck wishes. I'd be out of my mind to pass this deer now. If I had control of 1000 acres maybe I could justify it but with as many brown-its-downers it'd be hard to hope he'd survive that long. A different buck could intercept my arrow in the meantime but for now this guy stands all alone in my thoughts...
  10. Where I come from this buck is officially labeled a "Christer" ; because when you see him that is one of the words that may come out of your mouth. I had him last year at 30 yards on the very last day of bow season. I have passed on more than a few 3 year olds over the past years but this is the first one that I've seen make it into the next season. Am I ever excited by what I see now. Hopefully he is around as much as he was last season. He looks to be solid 150s. I don't care much about net score but he won't have many deductions either, unless he goes and breaks tines off like last year. It would be interesting to see what he would look like as a 5 or 6 year old but rest assured it won't be because I let him walk...
  11. I had 6 deer feeding in a standing soybean field in front of me last night. My friend would have combined it yesterday if it hadn't rained.
  12. Deer LOVE the beans. They'll be in there for the leftovers, but the very best time to hunt it is the first night after harvest. Same as corn.
  13. NYANTLER- I get 154 gross. Let me know how close I am. AMAZING mass. I love a big 8 more than any other antler configuration.
  14. I've watched bucks dogging hot does more than a few times- this is definitely what was going on here. When I watched the video for the 1st time I saw the doe trot across with her tail out like that and I knew without a doubt that there would be a buck not far behind. It was more of a surprise as far as which buck it was rather than if a buck was coming. Does don't trot around like that when they are not interested. Sure the timing seems wrong but there is no mistaking what is going on in that clip.
  15. I'm thinking this is an isolated scenario..? Maybe she triggered off this last full moon? The # of days after the full moon are right if you go by Alsheimer's predictions but maybe she just jumped the gun...
  16. I know it may seem unbelievable but watch what came in front of my camera 3 days ago...
  17. Nice 3yr old 9 came by at 7:30 at 60yds. Glad he wasn't one i wanted to shoot.
  18. Congrats to all the successful hunters. I'm a little envious of the nice bucks on the ground already but the season is still young. Dave- the cut a rage 2 blade is unmistakable apparently. I was using 125s with the cut on contact tip.
  19. That's awesome- and an odd way to find a shed!
  20. Quartering fairly sharp. The exit was out the armpit of the right front leg.
  21. Shot this doe today in 7H after a long staredown. 10 yards. I usually won't take a quartering to shot but she turned while I was at full draw and wasn't budging. I reasoned that if I could put the arrow where I did I should hit plenty of vitals. It's actually the same spot a mattador stabs the bull to kill him. Can't argue the results. She went a total of 55 yards from the shot. Bet you can't guess what broadhead I was using...
  22. Shot a doe at 10yards , 9am. Went 50-60 yards and tipped.
  23. Yeah- the problem is that all these people waited until some hunting seasons already have started before attempting to do hunter's safety. Sorry, better luck next year.
  24. A couple of nice bucks for next year. One has a double main beam.
