  1. Awesome- some justice for once
  2. Iowa was terrible the third week of March last year. I crushed hundreds of ticks on my jeans with my trusty Leatherman last year. Several of the bigger bucks I still have on the trail cam are pretty thin. Maybe the rut was more intense than everyone thought?
  3. That's amazing. Wonder what it's going to cost in Scent Lock?
  4. He'll make P+Y with those long tines. If I'm wrong his general gnarliness will make up for it. Good luck!
  5. If some "hunter" sees this and tries to claim make sure to tell him where to go! What a nasty way for that buck to die.
  6. Ya- but there is no way to know for sure unless you do... Is this a refugee thread, ya know, where you flush and flush and it just won't go away?
  7. We all know the dirty sanchez is a real thing- at least you can imagine that it could be done anyway.
  8. The white in bird droppings is urine.
  9. Consistency and shape of deer crap has everything to do with diet and nothing to do with sex. Bigger deer drop bigger pellets and because a mature buck is usually bigger than a mature doe its safe to assume that big pellets = mature buck. A "log" just means the deer is eating something with less lignin in it. Do you think women's and men's deposits look different?
  10. I forgot- my Great Granddad is in there with a 176 gun typical except his last name is spelled wrong- it says Poetter instead of Potter.
  11. Exactly what Grow said- more than likely deer droppings. The bigger ones by the scrape are likely a buck's- but like some said before, a lot of information can be gleaned by rolling a pellet around on your tongue ; age, weight, # of points, gross B+C score...
  12. Great story. Don't let that be its last hunt!
  13. Sorry- typical. I forget if that's the edition that there is a photo in as well or not.
  14. Adirondacks 11/28/12. Story and additional pics here: http://huntingny.com...e-adirondack-8/
  15. Thanks- It's obviously fun being part of it. The buck really didn't need to be as massive as it is- I would have been just as happy with just a nice mature buck. It certainly was more about the experience than the actual deer.
  16. You should see some of the patches we find in the middle of cornfields when we are chopping it for the cows. Goes through the chopper just like the corn. Sometimes our cows are happier than others... The best part is watching some burn-out in a drug-rug walking through the field the next day all depressed...
  17. I have to ask- how old is your brother? Prohibition ended a long, long time ago... Or maybe the folks in those parts think it's still in effect?
  18. That's where the term "still" hunting comes from folks ...
  19. Don't worry Verminater- the cape goes out monday and the taxidermist will get the antlers when i an ready to let go of them.. Euro mount in the meantime.
  20. Thanks again. I was able to get his skull in the Buck Boiler today while working at the farm. Took 5 hours from start to finish. The buck on the left is the one I hit with my truck on Halloween and he scores a little over 120". The bases of the G2s on the big 8 are slightly larger than the bases of the 120" buck's antlers.
