I caught a nice one with a big minnow under a bobber and saw a smaller one bite on a nightcrawler that my buddy was bullhead fishing with off the same dock. Both were caught this year and they were both released. The moss on their head and shells is pretty neat.

I received Bogs classic high rubber boots for Xmas a few years back and have been impressed. They are reasonably warm and are still kicking. I have wide fit but the size 12 fits well and snug. They are real tight on your calfs which has saved totally soaked feet when I've fallen into water or mud. Mine are black which has never bothered me but I'm not even sure if you can get them in camo. I wanted muck boots but since they were a gift I didn't complain and will probably get the same boots again in the future if I can find them.

Colder weather and hunting in snow give hunters more advantages than disadvantages. Somebody should let homeboy know the South lost the war. Hopefully global warming and antler restrictions will let NY barely be the worst instead of easily being the worst as the author claims now. I have zero hope for an improved political climate though. I saw this posted by a friend of mine on Facebook during bow season this year. He moved to Ohio and was rubbing it in about his new hunting territory. He never shot an Ohio buck this year but connected on a dandy 8 pt opening gun weekend in the southern tier of the worst hunting state in the country.

I read the James Michener book `Journey` this winter. Camping all winter long in northern Canada sounds terrible.

I get annoyed with trail ribbons to and from deer stands hanging everywhere in the woods because people never took them down after season. Pick them up or learn some outdoorsmanship.

On a side note otters are reproducing in 8w which is pretty awesome the reclamation project actually worked

I just watched hardcore hunt on the pursuit channel shoot a nice buck over hay in Alberta in NY don't bait their stomachs do not like change I've seen two dead deer this year one was a young doe yotes killed the other who knows but they r doin fine if ur that worried cut down some trees

I got drunk with sasquatch last night his wife was a cougar thru the beer goggles

But other than as a deer density reduction tool for the DEC to experiment with I would be against them. I live in 8w and i am within walking distance of thousands of acres of state land. The yearling bucks are hammered. But only letting guys shoot the biggest yearling bucks doesnt seem like a great idea. Big bucks are still out there without ARs. If you pass little bucks be happy with the knowledge he made it another day but don't expect the world to revolve around your treestand.
-
I could get behind ARs in areas with little land access and overpopulation problems to try and force people to shoot more does. 8r would be a good wmu example. I think doe reductions there would benefit buck hunting by creating increased buck rut activity. But if deer herds did become healthier id like to know ARs could be disposed of in the future. ARs as trophy policies seen selfish if imposed statewide but localized areas using them to try and curb deer densities could be worth a try.

Every shot is a chance. They would call it killing instead of hunting if that wasn't true. You knew your equipment and took an educated guess. Sounds familiar. Unless you hunt with laser guided bombs. Practice equates education. And everyone I know who is over educated voted for Obama. You can never know it all.

They leave a lot of ribbons in the woods. Leading to spots best avoided.

I found a nice deep spot on state land sugar hill near Watkins glen and have seen deer everytime I've hunted there in muzzleloader. I haven't hunted there all year just knew it could be good. Hunted it afternoon on Mon tues Thur and Fri. Lots of small deer and no bucks. A couple big mama/lead does mixed in. I've seen a couple loner deer, both lil doe, I killed one. Mostly grouping up tho. They have been moving as early as 2 30.

Shooter year old

Nobody will shoot little ones with no easy way to cross and its really convenient to go to the bathroom.

Hang a stand on convenient edge of creek facing towards other shore and leave the back of the property as sanctuary. Ive seen everything from bass to otters to bobcat to beaver to gaint whitetail bucks hunting my creek stands.

The buck i shot on the deer drive was a state land deer too. My friend shot the nice one on opening day this year.

Since im new to the forum and bored on the nightshift ill upload more deer pics. The first is a public land buck shot two or three days with a bow before the gun opener pretty close to where i found the dead buck. I arrowed a doe the same day. The big deer was shot opening day towards addison in steuben county. The last pic was my gun buck in 2012 and i think i shot the other in 2011 on a deer drive the second day of gun. Thats all the decent buck pics i have on my phone its amazing how finding a nice dead buck makes you think about october.

The critters destroyed any evidence as to cause of death. Since i found him outback where i always hunt and the antlers and skull are still pristine he will get eurapean mounted.

No trail cam pics or hunting encounters found 20 yds off of state land in steuben county near bath
