My advice for a hunting rig is avoid the true burners. When you get up in that 330+ fps range every little flaw in your form gets magnified down range, and a broadhead on the front compounds the problem

I fletch my own with Blazers, with a helical jig. They steer broadheads great. I've used the Quikspins in the past and liked them a lot too

I just dont understand why "Its not a gun its a bow" has been pounded into our heads for all these years but now you can use it during archery season but dont have to take the archery course, because they classified it as a muzzleloader?? I dont think its going to "flood the woods with yahoos", its still an up close and personal piece of hunting gear that requires most of the skill and patience of bowhunting. -
A bow is a firearm in NY state too. Im surprised you can use a crossbow during archery season without taking the course. You be shocked at the places in Clarence where I still guys doing deer drives in the late season, it wont be long before its over. Still plenty of good farmland to the East though

I've got a 60s Marlin 336 in 35 Rem, love it. Had a heck of a time finding bullets the past couple years though especially the Lever Evolution

Got this guy in the Upper Niagara a couple weeks ago on a little Rapala, 6lb test. Very lucky to land it!

I made the switch for target and plan to hunt with it this year. It will change your anchor and maybe your peep, so get one early and get setup. You really don't want it set light when starting out. I haven't shot out of a stand with it yet but don't anticipate any problems. Shooting uphill is a challenge
