NY to Allow online Hunter education
46rkl replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in General Chit Chat
So my somewhat selfish take on this. I’m planning a Colorado elk hunt and in order to apply for a tag you have to provide proof of successful completion of your states hunter safety course. Unfortunately, I have no clue what happened to mine from 1974. Last I checked, the state had digitized records of hunter safety courses but not that far back. I would have to attend (and pass) the hunter safety course in order to apply so doing it online will be great for me. Also, this makes it more important than ever that we experienced hunters mentor new hunters to ensure that they make safety and ethics the priority in their hunting experience. i applaud NYS for getting it right for a change. -
Feeling very lucky to be retired with a pension. My wife is working from home so no driving for her to visit doctors offices. The worst part of it all is that my wife loves to bake but typically has very little time for that. I’ve put on 7 pounds in the last three weeks! Cookies, breads and meals like we typically have once a week. My routine has not been affected much, the biggest change is no eating out and no visits to our local breweries (except for curbside pickup). Still plenty of work to do around the land and with some decently dry weather I’ve mowed twice now. Getting the garden beds ready to plant soon but trying not to get in too early.

Kennentrek. Waterproof the leather and you’re good to go. I’ve been hunting in Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico (along with NY) in all kinds of terrain and I can’t say enough good about them.

A nice NEIPA from No BS brewing. I could have done more yard work but I think there will be plenty of time for that. Then I walked in the kitchen and my wife is baking molasses cookies...Beer thirty. Cheers all!

The Storm front just passed with heavy rain, wind and lightning. 3/4 inch of rain in about ten minutes and the temp dropped 13 degrees in the same ten minutes. No more yard work so having a Mullet Man IPA from Noble Shepherd. Classic IPA style. Piney and hoppy. Good start to the evening.
-
Did some yard work and now having a home brew NEIPA on the deck with my #1 and #2 favorite girls. Sun is warm when you’re out of the wind.
-
Made a stop for curbside pickup at Rising Storm. Doing my part to support local breweries, er, businesses. Money Green Leather Sofa. A wonderful 10% abv NEIPA.

Can’t go to any local breweries so we’re cranking up our own production. A Rye IPA in the fermenter and a hazy NEIPA in the brew kettle. We’ll be fine.

Corona Virus Thread

A friend sent me this... Hope this virus situation gets resolved before tick season starts or we’ll be dealing with Corona with Lyme. -
Yeah, I’m on vacation. Wrong pic with that post. Oh well, another beer coming up!

Tucson AZ and the weather is fine! Sunny and 75 with a nice West Coast IPA. Beach Bum IPA. Hiking the mountains in the background tomorrow. That is, after getting our Rochester flight canceled and driving to Syracuse at 4:00am. Long day, good beer. It’s all good.

Driving my wife while she travels for work and we ended up at the Anchor Bar. Great wings and a nice pint of Frosty the IPA from Hamburg Brewing. Cheers!

Having a beer (West Coast IPA) at 12 Gates Brewing in Buffalo. Nice beer to pass the time waiting for the wife. Cheers!

Enjoying an evening in Buffalo. Belt Line Brewery. Great selection of IPA’s and a NE Pale Ale. Really nice place.

A really great day with my wife. Starting out at the Genesee Brewhouse for lunch and a good IPA. The view of the falls where I used to hike down and snag salmon along with a great burger and a fine IPA. What more could I ask for? How about a stop at Rising Storm to meet a bunch of friends for a beer? Really great day.

Now having a mourning beer at No BS. Russian Imperial Stout. It’s fantastic! Still bummed over Bills.

Sweating it out with a Troegs Perpetual IPA. Time for a long drive, Buffalo. also, getting ready for some peanut butter chocolate chip cookies by my wife. Mmmm-mmmm.

Just remember, stuff is one step up from junk! That’s good stuff right there!

Recovering from the New Years Day brunch we host every year. An all day event that saw over 60 visitors. The day after we clean all day and then collapse. Cracked open a beer from Reinvention Brewing over in Manchester. A great little brewery. Welcome to the 2020’s!

Ground and packed 24 pounds of venison today. Cleaned up, washed and moved all (almost) of my hunting clothes and equipment to the basement for the year. Time for refreshment. Rising Storm Infamous IPA from a crowler. Only problem, once you open a crowler, you have to drink it all. Not to bad of a problem to have!

An enjoyable evening at No BS Brewing, right down the road from my house. This place opened a year ago and was an underachiever. Their beers that they put out for tasting before they opened were great but something changed as they scaled up to commercial level. Thankfully, they’ve made great progress and are really hitting their stride. The Conesus Lake NEIPA is a favorite but there is a great variety of styles and all are high quality. When your in the Conesus Lake area, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

And a very merry Christmas to all, and to all a great beer!

A quiet evening ahead after an afternoon gathering at Rising Storm, our favorite local brewery. A Breif History of Hops from Reinvention Brewing in Manchester. Listed as a NEIPA but tastes more like a classic IPA. Light on the citrus flavor but a nice bitter hops bite.
