I was thinking of getting back into hunting in 2012. I remember .22 ammo being hard to come by, but most other calibers didn't seem to be hard to locate. When my wife bought a Mossy 500 20GA we had no problems finding ammo for her, I think that was 2013. Prices were about the same as I had remembered. She sold the gun and the ammo about a year or so later. Took a hit on both. Sold the ammo to a member here at a great price. @Gobbler Chaser, I don't agree with your sentiment on the over the top preppers. Sorry, I read some of those survivalist forums, and while some may not want to drop a lot on ammo or grab up as much as possible as often as possible, the larger share will and do. It's not just ammo either, fuel for backpacking stoves, dehydrated meals, all of it. Like I said, as long as people keep paying the prices it's not going to go down.

I say this now, so I'll end up seeing a bunch of people as karma, but the only people I run into while hunting are at the parking areas/trail heads. Only seen one other hunter in the actual woods. But I'll be sure to mention you if I run into anyone with that name. If I get the snot whooped out of me I'm coming to WNY and drive by all your hunting spots next season blowing a fog horn all day.

I read the pellets won't break down and get mucky and mushy like actual powder can. I figured I'd ask here and see what the experienced guys had to say. I picked up some 'items' to put over the muzzle if it's going to be a little damp out.

Thank you Rob. That might explain why you won't go far from the truck when you hunt up there, your afraid when you come out someone will have taken half of it.

We'll be checking into the cabin in Indian Lake on the 18th. I have seriously looked forward to the trips the past couple years because I flat out love hunting up north more then anywhere in NY. I think this year I'm a little more stoked then the other years because I'll be giving it a go hunting black powder for the first time. I have a couple of web harness set ups, and I think I'll be using the belt from one of them and keeping a few spare quick loaders in the pouches. To all the other hunters who will be out that week good luck.

Thank you both for the insight.

Some factors to be considered here: The GOV is still letting people on unemployment to collect an extra $300 a week to not go to work. I mean, who wants to work in a hot factory all day for less money then you make sitting at home playing on the X-Box and drinking blueberry ale. As long as people continue to pay the inflated prices they won't be coming back down any time soon. Just like anything else, when an item is in high demand, manufacturers and retails are going to take full advantage of making money. Time for a boycott? Those seem to work well. I'm sorry, but this one is part of the problem as well, the doomsday preppers are buying ammo like it's going out of style. When you hear someone fart and think the world is ending you need a lot of ammo on hand, ya know, just in case. Gun sales for women are way up over the past year, and so so are the sales for men. When you have millions of new gun owners, ammo will get scarce. A gun without ammo is like a car with no motor. People buying tons of ammo and selling it for jacked up prices on web sites. Vista Outdoor just announced another increase on ammo and components going into 2022. They own a large collection of brands, and some of the most popular like CCI, Federal, Remington, Hevi Shot..................... If I remember right ( I don't sit around keeping track of this stuff ) the stock in that company is up something like 170%.

I have a question and didn't feel making a whole other thread was necessary. I have been reading up on whether to remove the powder pellets and bullet or not when I'm not actually hunting. Of Course I'll be removing the primer! It's about a 50/50 split as to if I should or not. I won't be leaving it in my truck here at home, so it will be brought into the house after each hunt, but not used daily so I'll be unloading it entirely. The week I'll be up in the ADK's I won't be able to leave it in the car either because we'll be doing some hiking and exploring as we always do in the afternoons, so the gun will be going from warm to cold back to warm each day. Should I just remove the pellets and bullet every day when I get back from a hunt for that trip?

Over slept a little but headed out in a little bit. -
You said Russia, Bill said China. I quoted your post making a joke about Bill having a lot of extra time.

I'm not saying it was @blackbeltbill, but he is retired now, and has a lot more time on his hands. He was also the first to blame another country to offset blame. Yet you felt a need to post this 4 times on "social media"?

Maybe the people who got to FB are expanding and TapaTalk was next?

Someone shut down the Border Gateway Protocols that route the address of the DNS. So in all reality, it was gone not just down. There was no way to locate the IP address('s) for the hosts. So either someone made a huge oopsie as they are trying to play it off as right now, or someone put the place into limbo for a day. I hope all you right wing super extremists have alibis LOL.

If I was to be serous I'd say it had something to do with Frances Haugen speaking out before she was supposed too. I should check in on a few people I know to make sure they are OK. They have phones glued to their faces being on FB from the time they get up until they go to bed.

I thought the part I highlighted resulted in loosing cycles not adding them.

This explains it. They are trying to cover something up and it's taking longer then expected. https://huntingny.com/forums/topic/93099-what-a-clown/

Maybe that's why FaceBook is currently down. They are trying to remove all the evidence.

There would be a lot of people from this forum that would have a stroke.

I read about it a couple hours ago. I guess it was a DNS attack. Thought to myself "Is this actually news worthy?". I think the last time I logged in over there was in June. Never had Instacrap, and no need for WhatsApp. I did shed a tear though, the kind one gets from laughing.

Are Trail Cams making you guys hunt less too?

What's a trail cam? Is that some new age GoPro you strap to your boot to see the trail better? -

I was out Friday for a few hours, that's it so far. I was up this morning, but decided to wait until tomorrow when the rain passes.
