Wolf is sighted and ready to go. 4 shot group inside three inches shooting from a table and a blanket as a rest. Again, thank you to @sbuff, @rachunter, and @silent death for helping me out with a few items I was having an issue locating. The generosity has been payed forward- sent a buddy some care items while he's recovering from muscle repairs in his arm. Also sent another buddy a little donation to help him out with some medical bills his mom is having a hard time covering.

No clue of your location, but a couple weeks ago Franks Gun Shop in Perth had everything in stock. I wish I had had time to get out there but, an almost 2 hour drive one way wasn't in the cards. Even with the gas it would have been cheaper then shipping powder or primers. Most places have a minimum $30 hazmat fee. If you're within a few hours of them I would give a call and see what they have in stock. The odds of finding everything in one place are low these days. Between factories being short staffed and not able to keep up with the demand, staff in some stores hoarding shipments for self/friends, and people buying up everything they can, stock is low everywhere. I just went through this about two months ago. I was nervous about having this stuff shipped, but luckily everything worked out. My biggest fear was the thieves we have around the area, I just made sure to be home when deliveries were due. A few of the guys on here helped me out with some bullets to sight in with, some hunting bullets, and primers. They wouldn't take any money so I payed it forward by shipping a buddy who just had the muscles in his arm repaired a care package of items he can use to occupy his time in the recovery center, and giving another buddy a donation to help cover cost of his mothers bills due to medical issues. I would be calling every shop within $20-30 worth of gas and asking what they had. If you have to drop that cost on shipping you may as well spend it in gas to get the items and go in person.

Plain old clear/white. I had an old military crookneck flashlight with a red lens but, it was lost somewhere in Thacher Park a couple years ago. My multi color head lamp was given away to someone who needed it the same year. I prefer white so other people that might be in the woods before me know I'm a person and not a red eyed big foot.

Southern Albany County is showing some solid changes the past few days. Cold snap that moved in is doing it's job. I'll be back up in NW Saratoga County on Sunday and I'm sure the rads and oranges will be more pronounces then here at home. In a few weeks I'll be back up in Hamilton County, if it's like the past two years most of the leaves will have changed and dropped by that time.

Had to make sure new brake lines are OK ( verdict still out ) so I drove down to Walmart. I picked up two of the $10 12' sheets. Walmart tries to be sneaky the past 6 months or so and have an item marked or listed at one price then when you cash out it's a higher price. Politely told the attendant the price was ringing up wrong at $14, and she corrected it after checking the price herself. I thanked her and came home. Be setting things up Sunday when I'm up in the area re-sighting the CVA.

Amazon was the $20(+) stuff, even for just plain old brown. Amazon isn't the lowest prices anymore. Free shipping is nice but some items I can buy from another place and even with shipping it costs less. $13 down the road from me here. Appreciate the feedback from everyone, thank you. I'll probably just grab a couple of the Walmart sheets. It doesn't have to be pretty, just something for when she gets figity.

Yes, it's camo. I had a few sheets until three years ago when I gave them to one of my neighbors. He was using an old wood swing set to make a stand and I gave him the burlap to put around the bottom to have two tiers. Wallyworld has some for $10. 12' long and will be enough to wrap around a couple trees.

I agree with what you're saying @G-Man. The basic foundation of any forum or web site should be updated regularly. It's 2021 so the new articles and news should be updated to reflect all the changes to hunting in the past few years. The owner here is rarely around to update this stuff, and I'm guessing the Mods don't have access to alter this area of the forum?

I have been a member of forums where they disabled all the likes and so on. Up until a few years ago when it was taken down by the owner I was an Admin on a forum where there was no like system, and certain boards did not add to post count such as general areas. Your post count only went up of you contributed to what the forum was about. That makes more sense then the middle school cafeteria vibe most forums have. Leave out the popularity aspects and don't count nonsense posts and threads, and you will draw the people who are serious about the sites theme and topic.

I was thinking of getting some burlap to make a hunting blind for my wife instead of just a brush blind per her request. $20 for 9 feet? This stuff used to be like $1 a yard in fabric stores.

Time to look for a new host if you have to pay for each visitor that goes to the sites. My first was from 2006-2009 and I never paid for visits, I paid like $225 a year for unlimited everything. In 2010 I put up a new site through a host and only paid $135 a year for unlimited everything, with a ton of one click software installs for forums, portals, CMS, and a bunch of other software. I have recently been looking at setting up a place to sell my knives, slings, and other items I make, a few hosts still have unlimited disk space and bandwidth for for about the same, $135-200 depending on if I want dedicated servers. That price includes domain registration if you pay for at least a year up front and has about 200 one click installs of software ranging from CMS, forums, video, blogs, Wordpress, e-commerce, photo sharing and a lot of others. If you opt for paying per month the domain is $15 a year and hosting is around $15 a month. I will not be using any ads to pay for anything if I set up a site. Part of the sales proceeds will go towards the site, or I'll just pay it out of pocket. I don't like ads so I won't make any visitors have to deal with them either.

I read about this last night. They will continue to make Triple 7 and BH209. There have been some "incidents" at the factory they are closing, or so a few articles state. At first I thought "Well that's just fn great! I just got into muzzle loading!". Then I did some looking/reading before I had conniptions. Knee jerk reactions are rumors get started.

Have you ever paid to own and run a website? I have a few times and I can tell you, you are wrong in this assessment. I can also tell you that hosting isn't as expensive as some people think it is anymore. Web hosting plans cost the same if you have 1 visitor or 50 million. Example if you are using a shared hosting plan that costs $150 a year, the price doesn't go up based on traffic, it stays $150 a year. For that fee most hosting pans offer unlimited data storage ( the images, software storage etc. ) and bandwidth ( space used by visitors ). Dedicated server/IP plans will run a little more, but you still don't pay per visit. I'm pretty sure this site uses NameCheap ( or it was at one point ) for hosting and then the added fees for using Invision forum software, which I'm pretty sure is a one time fee to buy the software and then certain upgrades might be additional fees. Most plugins for software are free, and those that aren't don't cost bucket loads of money. Domain registration is a one time fee when you start out and is usually only like $15-20. I'd guess the pay out for this forum is around $250 a year, probably less. A fast lookup shows the forum makes about $1.25 per day from the ads. Newer hosting plans that run off SSD servers tend to run a little higher, and some hosts have different prices for the amount of space you want/need. If you can and run off your own in house servers the initial output for the equipment is steep, but in the end it's actually cheaper.

Web forums are slowly fading out whether people want to see it for what it is or not. Even older people are using Facebook more and joining private hunting groups over there, Instagram is gaining ground due to the ability to have your own personal space and allowing users to decide what comments and replies are made to their posts, even blogs are making something of a comeback. Hell, even YouTube is having a hand in making web forums on a decline. New people don't want to come to ancient forum software where they can't post videos and/or make money. It's all about sponsors, endorsements, and making money fast. It has nothing to do with being "jumped on". If one wants to discuss the reasons some people will move past a forum like this it's all the non-hunting related BS and the open down right nasty arguing about politics that will make anyone with any common sense move on by. Lets not kid ourselves here! The tag line is "New York's #1 Hunting and Fishing Site", which is sort of a joke really. When people go to a hunting and fishing site they want to see those topics, not 300 pages of people Bi%$#&*% about vaccines, they don't want to read political discussions and arguing, watch music videos, read about MMA pay per views, read about the damn stock market, doom and gloom prepping, or what color toothbrush people just bought. They want to read about hunting, fishing camping, and the outdoors.

I thought foreigners had to go through the ATF to get a permit to use a firearm and ammo here? Even for hunting, and had to do so in advance. There are/were also special restrictions by state. Maybe they are old laws? -
Seriously, has any tried using an ad blocker?

I wonder if this reset will alter any ballistics or arrow flight? Serious question here. -

Sometimes when forum software needs to be updated the the people who actually write the software make adjustments to coding and to update things to what is more popular by people. The masses of most forum software are all about likes, achievements, and seeing who the popular kids are in the cafeteria. So a lot of developers are making these updates. There's usually a way to opt out of some of it, but resetting certain things seems to just be part of the process. Just post a bunch of completely useless to hunting posts in the political area and your post count will skyrocket. Seems to work for a few. -
I'm as ready as I can be. Waiting on a tow to the mechanic because my suv decided to snap a brake line so I'm not sure it's ready. I suppose I can walk to couple miles around the corner and hunt that little area of public land.

If @Chef is willing to come by and help you get this sorted out I would take him up on it. Having someone there to show you and explain things is a huge step up form watching videos or reading how-to articles.

I started doing sort of the same thing the past couple years after reading a few guys on here do this. I'm still in and set up a wee bit before the sky starts to brighten and let everything calm down. Doing this last year I saw more deer then in a lot of years prior and that helped spark me to be out there more days then I have ever hunted before in my life.

Seen some last week on smaller trees, more like scrub brush then trees. Haven't seen any scrapes to speak of. Neighbor got permission to hunt some private land not too far from home and has me listed as his guest. Strolled around the area and where he and a lot of the other guys that hunt it are set up I didn't see a lot of sign. I hiked back in a little deeper and into some spots that aren't easy to get into and located a lot more sign including food sources. I'm honestly not sure how much I'll hunt that place, a lotta guys on not a lot of land. Never got to really look the whole place over so we'll see how it goes.

I think I'll stick with hard and soft shell cases. Something about that screams busted gun or scope.

Sorry to hear about loosing the property. You'll get your buck in there, maybe even bigger then the one that slipped by last season.
