NY for us is public land we hunt 6,000 acres NH all land is public unless posted

I have close to 0 chance because I follow the law the best I can I am not perfect by any means & never claimed or will claim to be. I am not reading a 10,000 page law book but I do read the E regs each year for any state I hunt & I follow them if I don't quite understand them I ask F&G or in NY DEC As I stated earlier I value my privilege to hunt if that means leaving 5 minutes early I do I have also taught my kids to do the same respect the law & enjoy the wild
-
I have been checked almost every year in NY & we only hunt there 1 week I would also suggest playing by the rules in NH if anyone ever comes up here to hunt F&G has a lot less area to cover & You may not see them but they do see you I know a few of them & they can tell me where I have been hunting almost any given day
-
NH has the 1/2 to 1/2 rule given the buffer I will say I 99% of the time I start at sunrise & stop at sunset unless in a field it is not easy to line up pins & deer past 20 yards gun season in NH I will use the 1/2 to 1/2 as my scope collects a lot of light but my gun is still emptied a couple minutes after start & before end

so in other words you just plain don't care about the Law Wow Good Luck to you then

here is the NY rule on transporting firearms Never heard where it had to be padlocked you dont even have to padlock your rifle Transportation of FirearmsA person may not transport or possess a shotgun, rifle or crossbow in or on a motor vehicle unless the firearm is unloaded in both chamber and magazine or the crossbow is unloaded or taken down. A loaded firearm may be carried or possessed in a motorboat while legally hunting migratory game birds. A muzzleloader is considered unloaded when the cap is off the nipple, the primer is removed, the primer powder is removed from the flintlock pan, or the battery is not in an electric-fired muzzleloader. A crossbow is considered unloaded when it is uncocked. A crossbow is considered taken down when the limbs have been removed from the stock, securely fastened in a case, or locked in a trunk

so let me ask you if NY gave you the 1/2 hour rule would you still hunt 20 minutes after if you think you could still see?
-
If he does he does I don't watch all those fake Big buck tv shows so I don't care about the buck of a lifetime it is about being out in the woods spending time with friends, family & nature & putting Venison in the freezer If the Buck of a lifetime comes out 1 minute after legal shooting he would walk by the way my watch is is in eyesight all the time no movement needed

UM Yes I do. Arrow is in quiver/ Bullet not in chamber till legal shooting out at end

Ok didn't want to chime in but I couldn't help it. In NH we have the 1/2 hour before to 1/2 hour after & people here push that. I had to keep reminding myself the first sit in NY last week to stop at sunset which we did if sunset was at 5:00 4:59 the arrow went in the quiver. I value my hunting privilege more than a lot of things I am sure glad I am that way one evening sit I finished & walked out to my truck & there was the NY DEC SUV right behind my truck. I instantly put my bow on my tailgate & pulled out my license, showed him my back tag he seemed impressed that I was ready with everything he needed I told him how much I valued my licenses & as I do not know every single Hunting law I follow everyone that I do know. he laughed & stated the law books for most F&G are so big most Officers don't know all the laws. we chatted for 15 min or so then he Thanked me shook my hand & we left. through all this rambling my point I guess is how much do you value your hunting privilege because you never know when DEC is watching or any other hunter especially in NY where you are wearing your license # on your back

Yup was totally different where we were hunting than at camp 3 miles down the road

Yes I am excited for next year already & we were expecting it not to be great this year weather wise we have been lucky with the weather the last 5-6 years 1st year we went out there was the day after Thanksgiving & was 70's all week it was only a matter of time before we got a week like that again
-
Yeah we are only out there one week out of the year! they are also logging there & in the area I have taken a few deer. I believe the logging, winds & heat was the cause of lack of sightings started to improve at the end of the week as the temps cooled off but we just ran out of time
-
Well trip was a bust saw as many deer all week that we usually see in one or two sits NH gun season starts tomorrow so hope to have better luck temps are perfect here for hunting
-
Rain didn't bother me but the strong swirling wind stinks hunt from the ground so no sense being out there.
-
Well wind was horrible today hunted this morning & called it quits till tomorrow went to Prattsburgh stoped in the archery shop & saw a picture of a huntingny.com celebrity wny bowhunter at the counter had lunch at JB's bar & grill great food & beer huge portions good prices hanging out at camp tonight will hit it one last time tomorrow unless we decide to try a morning hunt Sunday
-
Does out and about today no shots 2 days left hope we have better luck with NH gun season

Still no deer hanging definitely not the amount of deer we used to see looking like we may be going home empty handed
-
Very slow but picking up a bit I blew it not sure what I did missed a doe today but we all finally saw deer 10 sightings between 4 of us. So far a total of 14 deer. We used to see that in one sitting still not a lot of sign
-
Just had 5 coming 80 yards out the wind shifted & gone going to be a tough week
-
Well we made it out to Naples Friday afternoon so far worst season for us since Friday we have seen 4 deer between 4 of us plenty of sign but warm temps & strong swirling winds aren't helping doesn't look good for other than vacation
-
I wanted to just Thank everyone for your kind well wishes. yeah I cried then laughed thinking of the memories . even though we adopted them at an older age & knew they wouldn't live long you never are prepared. I wanted to like every post but ran out of likes. today will be easier as I will be busy at work then preparing for our trip to Naples. Hunting camp has Wifi so I will try to sign in at least once a day. more if the hunting is slow Again Thank You all! Hope you all have a great week & give all your dogs a hug from my family Lily is Beautiful these two were our first boxers too always had labs & get used to her kid like behavior sorry to break the news they have it forever. I could not believe the energy that she had until she got sick sometimes it is frustrating but a lot of times it brings so much joy sorry to hear that thoughts & prayers sent you way too!!! seems like it is a bad month My brother in-law had to put his dog down a couple weeks ago & a buddy of mine was taking his to the Vet yesterday & doesn't look good for him either
