  1. AaronBlaine Hows the Island these days? haven't been back there in about 15 years
  2. ran out of likes But WOW! I cant be away from this forum for as long as I did I miss out on all the good stories
  3. Best way to scout is boots on the ground. you need to walk it you can't hang cameras without knowing where to put them. need to find the bedding areas (try not to get to close), travel routes & food sources mid day is best when deer are not moving as much & scout like you would be hunting. Camo, cover scent ect... I would hang cameras around the food sources first unless you find a defined travel route
  4. It does feel really good getting back on here. I think I posted more today then I have since all the days this year combined
  5. the spray can Duracoat works ok but no where as good as the "Pro" duracoat but def. a cheaper route
  6. depends on what I am hunting or doing but it is most likely a Ruger all but 2 of my firearms are Ruger's
  7. Thank You Guys couple pics of it up close but not finished. I love my Rugers but the bluing they use on the American line is not the greatest
  8. Thanks for the heads up I have always used all balls racing on the honda but will look into the HD ones when the time comes
  9. Free LOL my brother does gunsmithing & Duracoating but most here in NH is about $75-$100
  10. Yeah I looked at that & said it didn't look like it would be fun to work on
  11. Got my Ruger American Predator .308 duracoated. I wanted to do the scope too but would void Nikon's warranty shotgun is in the shop now & next in line is the SR1911 not sure which after that. plan is to get them all done
  12. right now I am at work been here since 4:30 & will be lucky to leave by 4:30 then home to work on my youngest's car till dark
  13. Pretty much gave it away to my brother $900 but he is doing some gunsmithing & Duracoating all my guns
  14. I only target deer without spots or a milk mustache. It is all about Venison in the freezer to me. I get just as excited when I take any deer no matter the rack or size
  15. Hear ya NYAntler but my priority is & has always been my family & my kids education so I have no choice but to put in the hours to help pay for college. My oldest is in her third year & my youngest heading off next year. pretty sad when 4 years of college cost more than it did to buy my property & build my house. Hell I even have 30 years to pay off the house
  16. Seen quite a few deer on the slopes of the 245 side I just need to remember to stay away from Conklin Gorge. If You have seen me come down that trail it would be a memory you will never forget. I slide down the trail on my knees grabbing every tree or root on the way down. last year I lost my $100 release on the way down & refused to go back to look for it. One of my hunting partners went back the next day & retrieved it for me.
  17. don't know how you do it but your handle fits you. We only had time for a very small garden this year. With the short growing season here in NH & drought conditions it didn't fair well only thing that grew were my 4 hot pepper plants which were loaded with peppers until the deer decided to eat. Who knew deer liked jalapenos & Thai dragons
  18. Doc sounds like we work /worked for the same company LOL
  19. I know this is late but I have been going to High-Tor for 10 years 1st 2years were gun season (Never again) rest for Archery. only 2 years have we come home without a deer one was last year & the other was the first year we archery hunted there but it was more of a scouting trip. It is big with all types of terrain. Did you make it out there?
  20. same boat here I have my mother in-law living with me for the last 2 years + she is 90years old & needs to be watched 24/7 summer was ok when my oldest daughter was home from college to help watch her. so the wife & I could get caught up on all the stuff we needed to get done. She went back to school last weekend so starting the 15th I may have to work late (in the stand) Till Dec 15th
  21. Been a rough & Busy year at work & at home. I have not had much spare time for fun. Heck I didn't think I could put less miles on the Harley then I did last year 105miles well this year I put on 3 miles took it out of winter storage to home & that was it will have a whopping total of 6 miles when I bring it back but actually toying with the idea of just selling it. Deer / Turkey season starts here in NH 3 weeks today & I am not even close to ready. Normally shoot my bow 365 days a year & could not find time to get out & shoot till last week. Funny thing is I had shot the best I have shot in a very long time. I may have a late start to the season this year for NH season & I have decided I will not be going to NY this year. It sucks but have more important things to take care of & will be back out there next year. Good Luck to all of you this year & be safe hope I can at least start finding some time to at least get on here & chat
