thanks for the opinions, i hung a ladderstand on state land out east and will bring my blind with me for the fact that the stand might get stolen. I might head up to Dick's saw a few climbers on sale and I have a coupon!

Was out last wednesday in sullivan county faced with rain climbed down from the stand and was walking and came across a deer approx 70 yards, flagged me and took off. I continued on the trail I was on thinking that I might cut him off, sure enough I see him and "stalk" with in 54 yards then he kept on going. Between the rain, and wind, and distance, no chance of a shot, but a lot of fun and if it was rifle season he would have been mine! Enjoy

I am in similar boat, paid $110 for a very lightly used mossberg 500 with a non-rifled, no choke barrel. I want to buy a rifled barrel and scope $175.00 at dicks, I would be into the gun for 285. the price of a new 500 2 barrel combo, go figure?

hey still a bargin and not to mention if you can scrap together for a "lifetime" license. NY has a great amount of public lands, I am still shocked that I can hunt 1 hour away from NYC.

Anyone have much luck with ground blinds? I hunt in Suffolk and hanging a treestand and then moving it is a hassle at times, wondering if anyone has had much success from a ground blind?

Wantagh, bow indoors in my 13 yard basement range. Outdoors at cedar Creek (2 mins from house). Rifle and shotgun on private land in Sullivan.
