I wish I could source back the info for Ohio I had a while back, but the jist of my research showed it was a 50/50 crowd - half of the new xbow crowd were archers that opted to go xbow and half were new entrants.
-
People take notice.
-
Re-read what I said...the fact is that notice will be taken. What context it is irrelevant at this point. When 50% of the archery harvest is via xbow, it will be noticed.
-
Are you serious? Nobody will notice? Ohio's xbow take is HALF OF ALL FREAKING DEER SHOT DURING THE BOW SEASON. I believe its actually more than half in the most recent seasons. PA's numbers are reaching the same proportion. People will notice. Fact.

Our local radio morning show had two co-owners of a Tactical Supply store on the show. They were purple heart recipients (IEDs) and former special forces of some sort that opened the store that includes a laundry list of trainings. A quick listen confirmed that they really did know what they were talking about. Home defense was one. They got to talking about the best option for home defense and they stated it was the .22. Not the shotgun, not a 9mm, or a .45.....a .22 in either handgun or rifle format. Their logic was that you could quickly engage the target and not lose time for re-alignment of the gun after recoil, and at the same time limit collateral damage as the .22 isn't likely to penetrate even dry wall. Stopping power wasn't their most primary concern, apparently. It does make sense on some level. Interesting, I thought.

I guess I just don't get that, because if there is an inch of play beyond the 29" how was it set up properly?
-
Feral cats...people forget about them. They devastate nests.
-
So, how would DL be set then, if the bow never stops drawing except for the anchor point...in theory the draw length wouldn't need setting, no?
-
Anchor point has nothing to do with the draw cycle stopping. If that was the case, hunters and archers would be locking up their bows and/or derailing left and right. There has to be a mechanism on the bow that prevents the bow from being drawn back of some sort on a compound bow. At some point the cams are supposed to stop rolling.
-
There has to be something that stops the cams from rolling over to the point of derail or locking up. It sure ain't the anchor point. I am pretty sure other stops were used before post style draw stops. Draw stops were patented in 83 or so.
-
It is used everywhere as noted. If deer were that attracted to it, we'd have heard about it by now because it'd be deerageddon on the highways with corpses everywhere.
-
We both posted the above at the same minute and both said the same thing. It's a conspiracy.
-
Draw stops tell you pretty quickly the bow has hit the end of the cycle. My Z28s are only 60lbs and the hold is real low, like 8 lbs at full draw. It has two posts (stops). I can darn near draw the bow and hold the bow out sideways. The wall is immediately felt/reached without the need for any anchor context at all. Once it "goes no more" that's all there is to it.

You dont have time for this yet you cant understand your dl is what it is and post after post how the archery industry is wrong. Lol. Tin foil hat...here you come! Papist needs a friend.
-
The starting point is all relative...if you have a 29" DL, you are drawing 29". Period. You are not drawing longer to get to full draw.
-
I don't think so. There's a reason BOTH of his bows turned out to be the same DL again. BECAUSE IT IS HIS DL!
-
All you do is say my short responses are the result of not reading your information. Look, you just can't admit to yourself that what you think is the best thing since sliced bread is actually in your head. It's not an industry accepted practice and many people have commented on the industry accepted practice. If your idea was THAT great, THAT correct, THAT much more right, it'd be done by the shop in large. It's not. What's that say? It says you are on an island and the king of your own castle. That's it. Your draw length is your draw length. You can't seem to understand that, and instead try to say you are holier than thou because we're not "reading" your posts. We're reading them, and the reply is the same, because you are spinning your wheels.
-
Because your DL is your DL. That's why. Simple. I don't need to type any more than that.
-
It's not Doc. What shops can you say do this? Traditions, Heritage, Creekwood, Bullzeye....none of them in this area do this. Neither did Elite.
-
I have a 28" DL. I have had a 28 DL bow for that reason. It's really not that hard to understand.
-
BTW, asking me how sloppy my bow requirements are is pretty stupid. I know my bow well enough to kill deer at a distance you once flamed me for (and it's not a brag at all - simple fact). Moog may only be going on year three hunting, but you'd be surprised to know that his tuning ability is probably some of the highest on this board. He was texting me last week about dialing his DL down to the 1/16". 1/16"....let me float that by you again...1/16".
-
I have never ever been to a bow shop that ever measures the way you list out your methodology. Ever. Doe/Moog/WNYB and everyone else has explained how it is done in bow shops, and that is the approach I would take. This is the common and industry-accepted practice - if it weren't and yours was, nobody would be arguing this thread and threatening to off themselves by beating their head against the wall. My DL is my DL is my DL. You have yet to answer why your methodology is NOT used by bow shops. Why?
-
If that's the case, why isn't that standard practice in bow shops? Most bow shops do exactly the opposite of what you state. Why is that? We've heard what YOU, the bow tuner to the Gods, would do, but that's not what trained tuners do. I just don't get why the difference. Serious pondering. I've literally been sized up for a bow AT a freaking bow manufacturer by the bow company's engineer and tuner. Literally. Guess how he did it? I'll give you a clue. It was how the others have described here on this thread.

So tell me why archers wiser than all of us do not accommodate DL because of Dloops?

It is a good thing breathing is automatic. Some people simply wouldn't survive.
