  1. Just like rifle vs. shotgun? I acknowledge your opinion, but wow, talk about being out of touch with reality. I wouldn't let anyone shoot a crossbow at me at 150 yards. That's just plain silly. I think that speaks volume for the weight your opinion should carry from here on out on any post on any topic. Really. There are kids on this forum for Pete's sake. Poor demonstration of judgement; you should be ashamed, but that's just my opinion.
  2. Great little cam. Powered by 4 AA batteries and it is small! It disappears in the woods it is so small. Cam spec on box show 3MP pics, but it actually goes up to 5 MP. Used approximately 6 weeks. $70 TYD COUS Paypal Gift.
  3. Used only a few weeks. Good cam, video comes with sound and that is pretty neat. Original box and strap, directions, etc. Only selling because I am moving to Black Flash and MMS cams. $72 tyd CO US Paypal Gift. No trades.
  4. I picked up this cam on a great deal that I couldn't refuse. I went against my promise not to buy another red IR cam and stick with Black Flash, but this cam has absolute raving reviews. Probably a contender for cam of the year in most cases. I can see why. The cam simply does everything good and most things great. The daytime image quality is absolutely the best I have ever seen in a commercial cam, period. It also throws out some incredible light for night pics. Trigger is solid and the 3 burst photo series is extremely fast and borders too fast. I suspect all three pics are taken around 1 second to 1.5 second TOTAL. Not 1.5 seconds in between pics (that would be real fast anyway), but all three in 1.5 seconds. Cam is ready to rock realistically within 5 seconds (the recovery time) after a trigger, and that is superb. User screen is easy to navigate. Battery life is to the point you simply don't need to worry about it. Video quality is good, but not great. It's not an HD video cam resolution, but it is OK. That's really the only potential knock on the cam. I'd say it's the best red IR cam I have ever owned from a performance point of view. That said, I still like my black flash. The Black 60 is the sister cam, all the same but the black flash component and I have two of them now. Looking forward to the 2013 models as they'll have HD.
  5. I'm making a cold room this summer. Already have the structure built in the garage and the gizmo for the box a/c units are only about $200 or so and makes for a great chilly room. My room is small as can be, but it'll rack up 2-3 deer if need be.
  6. Good cam, only knock is the amount of blur for cam of that price range. Nice to see them still hanging onto the headgear.
  7. This is BS. I called...ordered 4 originally. NO EMAIL at ALL about the change in order quantity! I just checked my order on their site based on this thread and sure enough they reduced it to one and with shipping the price for one was not a deal. They charged the card the full amount when I ordered and refunded the cost of the three trees just Thursday. I called as let them know I was not happy with the way it went down. The lady offered to restore my order for 4 trees at said price. So they re-debited the amount and I should get the 4 trees for $26.91. We'll see.
  8. Great cam - arguably some of the best commercial cam pics you will have ever seen, used little. $140 tyd co us Paypal gift.
  9. Congrats on a fine buck and experience. Nothing like enjoying hunting with the family and remembering those lost. 6.5 years old? How was that aged? Any better pics of that beast?
  10. Certainly hard to walk a mile in people's shoes. I doubt NY will have that problem...the program is so well run here.
  11. Tankless was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in my life. So many problems with them. I think the biggest issue is that Americans tend to use one where as Europeans (much more common) use them at all points of hot water use. I celebrated the day I got a good old fashioned water heater.
  12. I don't think anyone is arguing that trigger restraint can be good when needed. I have personally found that the times when it is really needed is much rarer than when pulling the trigger is "justifiable". Most of my areas are high # and few are not. The ones that are not generally have less DMPs. The DEC whiffed a few years back, but that was really about the only time I have seen that happen. Just seems like you are trying to rationalize why people shouldn't take deer to donate.
  13. The DEC gives too many tags in some spots, less than needed tags in another spot, etc. I happen to hunt in an area where deer are plentiful. Come up with a better system. I see people complain about it all the time, and I'm included in that from time to time, but for one thing, nobody has offered a solution. I know I don't have a better system. I'd love to say, check stations, etc. but the bottom line is, at the end, the agency can only do what it can do. If you "feel" the DEC over-issued tags, and you know more than the DEC, then spit out the better system.
  14. Day pics are nice actually. The one "knock" on this cam is the night range. It's listed much further than the realistic illumination range of 25'. The cam doesn't take bad pics at all, just the range is limited to 25' realistically. I'd fully keep it if I were not enamored with black flash for my hunting purposes. It takes 4 C batteries and I get anywhere from 6-10 weeks on them based on the batteries I use and time of year (dollar general batteries get about 6 weeks and rayovacs tend to hit about 10).
  15. The risk is here is a loss by the pro 2A lawyers. We certainly need to go down this road as the only other option, a political reversal via a regime change in Albany, won't happen. But, trust me, if the legal system challenges fail, and this one seems to be THE one that will get the fight going, its not going to get any better for us in NY.
  16. Great value added participation there. Yawn.
  17. OP can mean original post or original poster. Referencing the nature of the post, not you/your position. We're on the same page.
  18. I have purposely killed many does with zero intent of eating them and having every intent to donate to the VDC or a family who could use it. I donated two deer in two states this year. I'll continue to do it every year. It thins the herd, meets a need, and if you don't like it, pound sand. Not a subject I'll debate. The OP is just an example of not understanding all of the fact and comparing it to normal food channels.
  19. I was a big follower of that religion in 1999-2003 or so, ha. College tends to do that from time to time.
  20. There is no hope on this subject. Human nature, I guess. No difference between the sequester issue on a much bigger scale. People just don't see eye to eye and it's going to just screw everyone. Compromise still seems like the best option in my opinion, but that's just because i see things from both points of view. Oh the irony.
