  1. TruGlo. I hope to have it tightened enough for weekend hunt, and will hit up the archery shop Mon/Tues evening. I wasn't even sure if these were parts you could order. I've looked, but can't seem to find anything.
  2. So I was out in my yard tweaking my bow before tomorrow's hunt, and I stripped the nut that adjusts the entire sight housing (moving it left and right) when I was tightening down the nut with my allen wrench. Anyone ever have this happen? Can you easily replace the nut?
  3. Not sure why - somehow it just stuck in my head.
  4. Definitely shoot it. And definitely don't ever take it to Gander Mountain again (assuming you have a local archery shop around you).
  5. Earl (that's what I call my 11 point hanging on the wall)
  6. You see the forecast for you guys tonight and tomorrow?! That will be tough bow hunting weather!
  7. This is an interesting topic, and one that I think about a lot when I'm in a tree. We are the only country that has the work driven society that pretty much kills people or does not let them enjoy life after retirement (because of early passing). It's unfortunate really, and something we should look into as a country. It's obviously not working, given the state of our economy over the past 3+ years. I use to 'live for my job,' and that has changed drastically. I've been married for two years now, and have a baby on the way (my wife is 40 weeks yesterday). Things will look a little different, very soon. haha
  8. After thinking about that, maybe Nov. 7-14. That might get you a little into the breeding period. However, once a buck had "bedded" with a doe, hunting gets slow - real fast.
  9. Nov. 4-11 for archery season. That's when I'd take the first week. Make sure to get a good part of the chase period in there.
  10. Have you tried shooting 180 grain? I'm shooting a Winchester Model 70 .30-06. Have only shot 180 grain. Might be something to look into. What did you like better about the 150 grain?
  11. Wondering what everyone thought in regards to .30-06 ammunition for deer hunting? This is the first year my area is allowed to use rifle, so I was curious. I've been looking into Winchester Super-X ammo (180 grain). Thoughts/opinions? Just looking for a lot of stopping power up to 150-200 yards. Thanks.
  12. My father has soooo many guns under his bed, that he NEVER shoots. Wish he'd just give them to me now!
  13. Deer born in the spring of 2011 wouldn't be called a yearling yet, now would they?
  14. If you're hunting state land in late season, stay in your tree stand. By this time, hunters will be coming and going from the woods more often (most by this time, are tired of sitting all day, and will put on small little hunts). Stay out there, so you can catch the deer either being pushed around, or milling about when they feel the coast is clear.
  15. If I can't tell the difference, why would I have started a thread like this?
  16. More time in the woods, more deer activity you see. Plain and simple.
  17. Where have you patterned him? Coming to or from a bedding to feeding area? Opposite of that? Very tough to say, without some other information. Other than that - the more time you spend in the woods, the better. Good luck!
  18. Haha, nope. I hunt up by Rochester too. See the same up there.
