  1. I have seen one. Our other camp though has a big problem with them. Hard not to shoot them.
  2. Call me what you will, but it is tough gutting a doe when the fawns are standing in sight, blatting for their mother.
  3. If that is the case, why do we still see fawns with the mother during gun and even muzzleloader?
  4. Just curious, about everyone's opinion around here. I've read a few articles where guys won't shoot the doe if the fawns are trailing her, and others it doesn't matter. Thoughts? Reasons? Opinions?
  5. Thanks guys - yes, I will be in a stand, taking my climber in. Only access I have is walking up the hardwoods line of the field.
  6. Wow, 62 views and not one word of advice or opinions.
  7. I'm fairly certain it's been like this for a while???
  8. What?! haha - opening weekend where I am so record amounts of rain and wind. It was downright miserable. Between Saturday and Sunday we got almost an inch of rain.
  9. Great video and nice buck, but this video shows what others have talked about. Cameras make deer a bit skiddish. The buck looks at the camera, does the "head bob" and then cautiously walks away from the area. Best of luck trying to tag him!
  10. A majority of deer don't. You got lucky, catching one going between a food source and it's bedding area.
  11. When my wife starts to 'enjoy' the smell of earth scent wafers!
  12. Hey guys, I'm limited on where I can hunt Saturday, because 1. my wife is due to have our baby any day now and I have to stay in cell phone coverage areas, and 2. I don't own my own land. This picture is a chunk of state land, where I've watched some deer activity. My question for Saturday is that the wind is suppose to be out of the W - SW all day. You can see in the picture there's a rather large swamp. Which side of the swamp should I set up on, or should I set up closer to the end/bottom (see numbers next to stand location). Thanks for any input. Just trying to maximize my time in the woods, before the baby is born. land.bmp
  13. What it means is nice weather this weekend! Be in the tree Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening. Deer will be moving. It's been a lousy week with warm temperatures. Deer will be up and around feeding and stretching the old legs!!
  14. I'm the same way. I could work up a sweat if I wore NOTHING when I walked out to my tree stand. I'm finding the Under Armour stuff is a waste of money. Thanks everyone for the insight.
  15. I've read in a few forums that the HBS way ahead of the WarmBag or other similar concepts. True, it takes a bit getting use to, but then again - all hunting gear does. I have yet to be able to find hunting clothes/gear that can keep me in a stand all day long, during those December hunts, when it gets down to 10-15 degrees (if not colder with the wind chill) when the deer are up and moving, looking for food.
  16. Anyone ever use one? Have one? Do they work? Is the money-back guarantee legit?
  17. Hmmm...it was a field with golden rod? Could the arrow possibly have hit some golden rod and then strayed upward?
  18. I usually sit quiet for the first week or so of bow season. I've kept some bucks in the area of my stand before with my grunt tube. Last year, I played with a four point for about 2 hours with my grunt tube. He bedded down right next to my stand and I was able to snap some pictures of him. When he got up to walk away, I grunted at him. He turned around and headed right back. At that point, another 4 point came into the area and was snort wheezing the entire way. It was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had on stand, and the grunt tube got it going. That was around the end of October, beginning of November last year.
  19. Take a bottle of peroxide with you. I'm fairly certain that even if the blood is a bit washed away, it will still react to remnants of blood and make it bubble or turn a slight different color. Might help you determine whether or not it was a clean hit. Good luck.
  20. Congrats man. Great story, little bit of luck, little bit of skill!
  21. Hey everyone, I've been using Under Armour for a few years now, but I'm starting to find a problem with the clothing retaining a body odor smell. I've tried everything: 1. Washing in baking soda. 2. Scrubbing the pits with oxi-clean. 3. Washing in scent-free detergent, and then letting it sit out in the sun. Anyone else have this problem, and if so - what did you do about it? Thanks.
  22. The South Buffalo area and Catt. County area (Randolph) that got hammered with 50+ inches, is off by, well close to 50 inches. It's not accurate at all. :
