  1. She has been great so far. I will only give her up to the perfect home regardless of price otherwise she is staying with me. To be honest it looks like she might be staying regardless. We are growing really attached so I am working on finding ways to make it work out. Using her as my excuse to get out more and even hunt more lol. I only did the occasional small game hunting but now I have an excuse to give my wife to go out more lol.
  2. She is a bundle of energy and has extreme drive and intelligence. Like I said, I have been around alot of bird dogs and have had alot of pups and I can tell this dog is 100% bird dog hence my decision.
  3. Thanks I appreciate the help. Part of the reason for my decision is because I have been around bird dogs a long time and I see she is very prey driven and can be a super star in the right hands plus I see the pleasure she gets out of it and I dont want to deny her of what she is meant for.
  4. Lol. I really appreciate your help. Thanks again.
  5. I would be very grateful of that. I am not on Facebook so I dont have that option. Thank you. I really want her to go to a perfect home otherwise we will keep her and do our best. At the least she will get lots of love and great care.
  6. I havent. I am attached to her now so I want to see and pick out the home she goes to, even maybe be able to visit her or at least get some pictures of her and updates on her well being every now and then if the new owner/family is ok with that.
  7. Hey guys/gals my wife thought she was doing a nice thing by surprising me with a new German Shorthaired pointer pup since we were very down about putting our last dog to sleep after a long 17 year run. Unfortunately I live in NYC, we have a two year old that requires constant attention, both of us work full time and though I am an avid weekend warrior outdoorsman and hunter, this is not the proper life for this kind of dog. I am already attached to her and this is a very hard decision however it is the best decision for the sake of the dog. This dog comes from superior bloodlines. The father is a show dog and the mother is a master hunter. She was born May 30th. This pup's hunting instincts are incredible. She is already creeping up on birds in the street and on training wings and pointing then breaking upon command. I have already trained her with basic commands of sit, paw, lay down, come, stay, break and go potty in only two weeks that I have her. She is AKC registered, has first set of shots and is dewormed and I brought her to my vet for a general check up and she is in great health. My wife paid $1200 for her but I am negotiable. I will be providing a crate, and a Dogtra IQ e-collar (value $225) with the purchase. Her name is Ella and she responds to her name. I will be upstate this weekend at our camp with the pup so if anybody is interested we can set something up. I am located in Sloansville outside of Cobleskill. I will not give her to just anybody. I will be screening for the right person/family. I would like her to go to a hunter preferably with access to alot of land 365/ days a year or at least a large backyard. If the person is not a hunter that is ok too as long as you can keep this dog busy and well exercised. She will make a great family / house dog as long as she has proper exercise. I advise that the person has puppy/dog experience before making the commitment. I absolutely will not give her to someone not suitable because she is well loved and cared for right now with me and my family and we would rather keep her instead of sending her to an unfit home. Once again I am choosing to find her a better home only due to lifestyle. She is incredibly loved right now and I want to make sure that will carry over to the next home and that someone can provide her with a healthier and more fitting lifestyle. See below for pictures. Thanks for reading. You can email me anytime at [email protected]
  8. I hunt 2 properties in sloansville. The first is a 70 acre hardwoods/swamp which is usually a very active area. I have only seen 3 deer the entire gun season and they were all on opening day. I even did two all-day sits and nothing. The second property I hunt is less than 10 minutes away and is 50 acres which is where our camp is and there has been no activity at all there either. I give my neighbor, who is a very close friend, permission to hunt and he went to our camp property and found 10 trespassers doing a deer drive led by one of the low-life locals who knows we usually only come up on the weekend or week of thanksgiving. So now I know why we are not seeing any deer. A call to encon was made and they told me if the property is not posted then it is hard to press charges. So pissed!
  9. That's awesome. I wish. I take long road trips with an infant in the back seat.
  10. Thank you. And i stand corrected it is not true dual but still looks and sounds great for a stock exhaust. Sure sounds a heck of alot better that my neighbors 2014 F150 ecoboost.
  11. Just bought a left over '14 Ram 1500 a few months ago. 395hp Hemi gets 18-19mp combo and 24-25 mpg cruising on the thruway at 75mph (my driving). Awesome tech features with my 8.4 inch screen, smooth 8 speed tranny and 10,000lb towing with 3.92 gears. Only truck to come with true dual exhaust which I really love and sounds awesome. Plus it is very easy to work on and is extremely customizable and it is thousands less than all the others. My hunting partners all have chevy's and they ask my why I wouldnt buy one and I said the day GM makes a vehicle with control buttons and knobs that dont peel or fade is the day I will buy a GM. I HATE THAT!!! My buddies got pulled over in his silverado last week for doing 85 in a 65, his speedometer broke and is apparently a problem with alot of silveradoes. My other buddy has a 2005 Tahoe z71 and has to have the truck in the shop once a year because there is a sensor that goes (1 on each wheel) and it sets off his traction control. No thanks!
  12. Welcome. Lots of good info on this site. Especially good to pass time between seasons.
  13. I signed up for the basic coverage. Dont know much about it though.
  14. Something banged into my office window in downtown brooklyn. I went outside to see what it was and saw a woodcock sitting there on the floor. I walked over to it and it flew off but it seemed disoriented. Next day I found the little guy dead across the street. Crazy to see a woodcock in brooklyn. I barely see them up at camp.
  15. I am assuming you didnt read the opening post of me saying that I was just curious to see if anyone on here hunts with an AR. That was the point of the discussion and finding out what people think of them. If I didnt ask then this site would be useless. I intend on using mine regardless of what people say on here because I did see with my own eyes that they are more than capable. Its just nice to have feedback from my fellow hunters on the pros and cons.
  16. Seneca, Schenectady & Sullivan are the approved sites.
  17. My buddy will only shoot a interlock or polymer tip. And I have seen the results which are impressive. He hunts for meat, not for hobby so the kill is extremely important to him so I doubt he would use something that is not up to the task. I just built a NY compliant and I love it. Comfortable, fun to shoot and one bad ass looking gun. Granted I wish I could have bought an original however that is no longer my choice as long as I am here in NY. Go for it. You'll love it. I find no comfort difference between the Thordsen stock and the pistol grip so it really doesnt bother me.
  18. Not looking for an argument. Looking for opinions because I was not an advocate but saw with my own eyes this year the results produced from a good .223 round. As for taking mine on a guided hunting trip, I agree with you and would take some much heavier artillary.
  19. I would have to imagine how much of those F-ups are hunter caused and not caliber related. It comes down to knowing what the capabilities are of your weapon regardles what it may be and your skill level. I am not going to shoot my bow at a deer at 75 yards A because of my skill level and B because I dont believe my bow will be deadly at 75 yards.
  20. Agreed but his weapon of choice is his AR and from what I saw there is no lack of capability in this round. His 8 pointer was hit in the vitals through bone at approximately 75 yards and the exit hole was impressive. I believe the choice in rounds that are available today has made this round much more versatile. Dont get me wrong, I still prefer my .270 or 30-30 however I would love to actually use my AR, which is unfortunately NY compliant.
  21. My buddy deer hunts with his .223 ar15 and loves it. Always gets a deer every year with it and never had any problems. Just curious to see if anybody else here uses one. P.S he killed a 180lb 8 point this year with it and the damage in the kill zone was devastating. He used polymer tipped hornady 62 grain.
