  1. If you kill young bucks and when the older bucks die off who's left to breed? 1 buck only is a great idea, if you kill one doe in an area there are plenty others to breed and the young doe will mature to breed as well, Shortening Gun season may help but i believe that it would cause more incidents and more hunters to hunt at the same time because with less time to schedule for vacation and less time to hunt, the woods would over populate with hunters.
  2. How is that funny? You must support heavy deer herds being protected in small villages cause most people are opposed to allow hunters to hunt deer in their area (with bow), so why not capture and release in a WMA? Or DEC could just allow hunters to bow hunt those herds that are protected and piss off the whole neighborhood? I've heard people wanted to poison the deer and/or do birth control for deer which is insane.
  3. Federal Truball 3/4 oz 1600fps 20 Gauge rifled foster slugs, used in my Mossberg 500.
  4. If you notice how usually after gun season opener its vacant? Well that is the time i like to hunt not when there are ton of morons in the woods popping off shots at anything that moves, so shortening a season or having an early and late gun season could increase incidents in the field and probably more deer harvested. Now if there was an antler restriction in areas needed (allow the young bucks to grow) i believe there would be better deer population, and i also think that someone who has multiple deer season license (example if some had bow and gun) Then they should only be allowed one buck tag. If people just stop killing young deer altogether population would blow up.
  5. It could be just the areas i hunt but haven't seen a deer shortage if anything I've seen more than usual this year most likely due to very few hunters and none i have seen successful, one buck tag per person is good idea with a antler restriction of 4 points or more, i would agree to a 5 day cut on all deer seasons.
  6. They're have been less hunters in recent years and more deer herd population over runs but dummycrats are too anti hunting to allow hunting in areas where it is needed, or to capture the deer and relocate them.
  7. This is just another thread about bow hunters whining about gun season.
  8. Ohio is bow hunter friendly and its only a boarder away, why don't you guys move there and then we'll replace Bow Season with Shotgun Season.
  9. These goody two shoes would follow every law down to a "T", even if the law said you couldn't hunt or own a firearm or bow they would give up their passion for the sport just to kiss the law's ass, most laws are illogical and are upheld by a corrupted government, we the people elect officials to make laws and regulations but when a law could be in question every one is too scared to oppose it.
  10. Funny thing I've noticed in my area that i hunt the so called hunters i have seen hunting in the morning are usually gone by the time i get back at noon to my truck to eat lunch (Packed in cooler) and never see them the rest of the season again, now i usually hunt as much as i can and hunt dusk to dawn cause i don't waste time to tag deer for the freezer i try to get as much out of the season i can. Sorry for the long post but i'm just trying to get the point out that i paid for tags to not just get thrown out after season has ended and if that means that i hunt 20 min before sunrise or sunset makes me a criminal then so be it.
  11. Now if it is light enough for me to identify a deer and the surroundings and light enough to see my fiber optic sights and its before sunrise or past sunset then call me a criminal but i don't pass up any deer that i have a tag for and feel proud to say i can feed my family, now if i intended to break laws and be a poacher i wouldn't even bother to buy license or even hunt in season.
  12. Is the creek the only source of water thats on that property? if it is find a heavy trail from the corn field to the creek and hunt it, look for rubs and scrapes, wear scent eliminator to walk through the property don't want to disturb the area too much, those deer will love those pencil tree lines in the fields to travel.
  13. Pretty dedicated obssed and addicted to hunting, every moment i'm non-stop thinking of it, i'll try to get out before the season to scout if the i get a chance, and i'm pretty crazy when it comes to my gear i'll sew leaves to my jacket and pants to break up my outline buy gloves and hats like their going out of style any shirt with a deer or camo on it i will be leaving the store with it, going to the range as much as possible to get the best accuracy i can, i hunt harder than smarter probably but its a challenge walking for miles to get to my hunting spot, sit on the hardest rocks at my hunting spot, pooring down raining or blizzard storm, trudge through puddles and colonies of ticks, sweat, tears, blood are put in every day of the hunt. All to for an animal? but its worth it.
  14. Well DEC tells you to put it visibly in the center of your back, but i think its funny they make you pay for these back tags and then you have to ruin your gear (expensive waterproof jacket) by punching holes through it ? its also a whole lot easier to put in you pocket so when a DEC Officer asks you for your licence you don't have to take your jacket off to get out of the Back Tag.
  15. Have a 2-7x32 Nikon ProStaff Shotgun Hunter scope with BDC 200 Reticle for sale on ebay for $120.00 or Best Offer. Scope has 1/4 MOA adjustment turrets, multi-coated lenses for bright images, great eye relief and is waterproof/shockproof/fogproof. I bought this scope this hunting season to use my shotgun but decided to use my iron sights instead, scope packaging (box) has been opened but i have never mounted this scope on any gun the scope is practically brand new, Link is below. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281781768194?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  16. Hunting is solely based on luck and skill, yes you must take all things in consideration like where their food plot is and what rout they routinely travel, but after the amount of strategy you put into it things always change, so to think a trophy buck to present its life to you to harvest is anything but partly luck you are mistaken.
  17. As far as I know its mostly state land, I've only hunted one area for a few years and only saw one hunter, you could ask some landowners if they'd give you permission there are a few farms around that might give permission if you want to try that, otherwise there's a lot of forest in the area the spot I used to go was off of Pipeline Rd, if you look up Pipeline Rd Cortland NY on Google maps you can get a better view of the area.
  18. Where abouts do you live in Fulton, in the city or outskirts i live just outside of Fulton on the west side, just wondering if i need to prepare to exterminate a few delinquents.
  19. When hunting state land i tend to sit all day cause enough hunters will move to push the deer to you,so definitely rule 2 on the article is the most important.
  20. You have to try out Tuller Hill State Forest, its just south of Cortland and 10 miles east of Dryden, I used to hunt there a couple years back drug some of my biggest bucks out of there lots of doe too, I swear those deer are so big they look like horses.
  21. I doubt the ammo went bad, unless they've been water logged or damaged, what was the weather like when you shot them? Windy, cold, hot, humid, pressure? weather conditions have a factor on ammo and some shoot better then others. also was your bore clean or dirty when you shot the Core Lokts .
  22. But if you know when the hot time is...the peak of the rut, it is the best time to maximize your time. Too many times down through the years I spent days in the stand, waiting for the rut to break...you can say it is still better than working...etc. Right? Wonderful to be in nature...And you never know. Lightning strikes. But I never have been very lucky. And that's OK. The only way I kill deer is by hard work and patience and figuring them out. I agree my last buck I got was in Nov/10/2013 so yes the rut may have a factor in when you get a buck but its hard to keep up on their routine, in my area that I hunt they change their routine every year and in such little window time space I get to scout/hunt but as long as I'm out there for at least 2 days a week I'll get something.
  23. I try to spend most of my spare time hunting and paid little attention to the rut I've gotten big bucks little bucks and does all through out the season, Opening day, mid November, frigid December. It don't matter too much because you can't spend your life in the woods to watch them you hunt when you have the time and no matter what the deer are always there.
  24. Some might get desperate and take a few looks at the other bucks, just saying lol.
