  1. The proper thing to do is take your own picture and post it as your avatar. Don't take someone's picture and post it like it is yours. If you asked permission, and he said it was OK then that is an agreement between you and that person
  2. HS Strut split V 2,3 or 4 reeds
  3. The blind is already in the back of the truck. I will set up on the side of a grass or corn field. Not supposed to rain in Saratoga county until afternoon, I hope.
  4. I hunt over a jake and hen Buckwing (now Primos) decoys. Always have them with me.
  5. It's just a turkey being a turkey. Some times they just don't come in on a string. It has happened to me several times in all my years of turkey hunting. More than likely he was with a hen and was responding to her. Don't give up on that bird. I hunted the same gobbler five days before I killed him. Good luck on your season
  6. I always try to pull the gobbler out of strut so I do not put shot in the breast. That is not always possible. Most of my shots at 30 yards or less so it does not matter much if he is in strut or not. I killed a gobbler at 10 yards several years ago.
  7. Most of my shots are inside 30 yards. I have shot the Kent's with out an issue #5 shot. Heavy shot 5 or 6, Winchester XX #5. I buy turkey loads that I feel are a good bargain. I like the challenge of getting the gobblers in close. When I see their eyelashes, I shoot 'em in the beak
  8. Mossberg 500 Turkey Special. Preston Pitman choke tube, 2.5 - 6 scope.
  9. I prefer the traditional way of spending hours pre season scouting. Locating gobblers and setting up on them in the morning. Calling them into that magic "30 yard circle of death" and having a clean kill. I have no desire to get shot in the head by an inexperienced hunter. This is a very dangerous idea. Who ever promotes this way of "hunting" is not very intelligent.
  10. Great pics. I am going t be filming a couple of hunts for the first time this year. Thanks to my wonderful children I have a new digital camcorder this year. I did a little practice filming this year in Georgia. No luck with the birds but learned a little bit about the camera. Great quality, great sound and easy to use on auto focus. I am really looking forward to May 1.
  11. I prefer to harvest long beards as I have killed my share of gobblers. I do not have any objection to anyone harvesting a jake. My thought is that this years jake will be a gobbler next year as long as he does not become a predator's meal.
  12. I live in Saratoga County and hunt mostly Saratoga and Otsego county. If it has feathers and comes to a call I hunt it. Favorite is spring turkey hunting followed by goose hunting, duck hunting and deer hunting.
