  1. Thanks, and on that note, I am done with this thread.
  2. Yes I was wrong in thinking that legal light was 30 min before and 30 min after sunrise/set. I don't know where I heard that, but that was my understanding and has been for several years. I can now stand corrected and make adjustments. I also admit that I have not gone over the regs with a fine tooth comb or read the book cover to cover. I have been hunting since I was in 6th, grade. I hunted alone too, go ahead and scrutinize that all you want as well. I don't hunt over bait, I don't jack deer from my truck, I dont use firearms in bow only areas. Judge all you want. Like I said, I sleep fine at night.
  3. Great. Well flame all you want. Im not throwing my name out there and it has nothing to do with confidence, more to do with privacy. If anyone wants my name its not that difficult to get, or just PM me and we can discuss further. I have no issue with my ethics. I can look myself in the mirror and be ok with my actions.
  4. Excellent job by both of you. You, teaching and preparing your son (i.e. great parenting) and to your son for practicing, listening, learning, and getting the job done. Surely a memory you will both have to share for years to come. I can't wait to make similar memories with my boys, 6 yrs, and 10 mos. On Halloween morning I had my six year old help me gut my deer. He just poked around in the blood and stuff and noted how warm it was etc. Again, good for you and your boy and I wish you and he many more memories and successful hunts to come.
  5. If thats what you want to take from it. Legal light is half hour before sunrise, no? I wasn't looking at my watch and don't know the listed time of sunrise for that day, but the sun was over the ridge within the half hour. If you're concerned, call the authorities, tell them to come and get me.
  6. Great stories. I'd love to have a dog with Luna's capabilities. Any links to, or instructions of your own, on training a dog to be a good tracker? Ive got a walker treeing coonhound who is dumber than a box of rocks, but has a great nose. Ive never given him a chance to go out an track a deer, maybe the next time I shoot one I will see if he can find it.
  7. Had some doe piss from last season, never refrigerated it, thought it was garbage. But, just for the hell of it I poured it in the leaves and rubbed my boots in it before walking to my tree. Not long after getting settled I heard something following my exact trail, coming right to me tree. I could see the reflection of the moon off of his antlers and was hoping he was a big 11 that I have on cam and have seen a time or two in the distance. It was barely light but he presented broadside, under a full moon, at about 20 yards. I let one fly and knew I had a good hit. Heard him crash about 60 yards from where he was when I shot. Nothing special, but good meat. Old deer too, flat teeth and a few missing. White in the face too. Maybe 4.5-5.5? Certainly on the decline from what I can tell. 7 points in all. 168lbs dressed. Shot in 3S on Halloween morning.
  8. Only reason I can see is if the area one hunts in doesnt have many trees that are condusive to climbers. If you hunt in a stand of hemlocks, youre not going to get very high in your climber. If you hunt in a forest of oaks and tulips, the skys the limit. I have 3 hang ons and a climber. Im in my climber 95% of the time.
  9. Where'd it get stolen from Shawn, what town? Did you have a trail cam go missing with it too? I may know of its whereabouts.
  10. Just had 4 taxis and bus go by. Honked twice but none responded. Work sucks.
  11. Remington 700 BDL in .300 Win Mag w/ a Tasco Golden Antler 3x9.5 scope. Whatever ammo is in my ammo box. I know the rifle is a bit large, definitely overkill, and my scope is not a great one. But, I'm not rich, not buying another rifle right now, and didn't have big bucks to spend on the scope when I bought that. This combo has harvested me several species of deer, pigs, Audad, and other animals in California, Texas, and NY. So, it's what I'll be shouldering in the woods opening day should I be provided the opportunity.
  12. What's doing in 7P? Any rut activity, deer movin? Hoping it cools down a little come the 21st, but we'll see.
