  1. Wife gave me the nod. Should be in my tree by 3. Only one tag left and I'm saving it for the weekend opener of rifle season. So, basically just going to watch what's doin'. Unless I see a real good buck, in which case it'll be no gun season for me.
  2. F these little F'ers. This warm weather certainly doesn't help. Just went with my 6 year old to check and see if this one scrape was still active. Maybe 1/4 mile walk each way. 3 off him, two off me. So far. Crawling, not bitten.

    Bobcat shot

I used to live and hunt on old pound rd. I have a hound. Live in yorktown now. I don't know if he'd be able to find it. I don't think I can get over there today anyway.
  4. I've gotten real close to some big bucks around here while on horse back. At the time though, I was way more interested in the girl on the horse in front of me.

Where are you located. Know anyone w a hound?
  6. I agree. Couldn't get out this morning because the old lady broke her foot yesterday and I have to stay in and help her with the chipmunks. But, went to to Wal-Mart real quick to get some ammo for next weekend. Saw a small eight and a crotchorn, cross the road in two separate and different places. Also saw two does along the road. Went to the range real quick just to make sure the rifle is still on. 4 shots in the X ring. I'm good for next weekend.
  7. Looking for him I would be.
  8. I used to race harescrambles/enduros in the mountains of Northern California. I had a nasty get-off at pretty high speed way out on the course and put one of my ribs through one of my lungs. It was not pretty. But, I lived, and it was at least 2 hours before I was getting any real sorta care in a hospital environment. I think a wild animal's will to survive is stronger than most of ours. So, I guess they could live. I can tell you this much, if he didn't live, then he is surely dead.
  9. Everyone loves and preaches mechanical broadheads. I started using thunderhead 125s when I was in 6th grade(1991). Only change I've ever made is now I use Thunderhead 100s. Never had an issue. If anything didn't go well it was due to my error i.e. misplaced shot. Every time I've hit my mark, they've done their job.

    Camp

Not much to look at!??! My camp is a 10'x10' plywood box with one window and a Woodstove and a couch from 1973. Outhouse about 50 yards away, no running water, no electricity. Just me, the mice, and the stinkbugs. Also, a few years back some buddies and I befriended a local guy that was living out of his car. Told him he might as well crash in the cabin (box). He did for about 3 months until he hung himself in it. So I got his ghost in there too to keep me company.

Did he go into the actual trunk? May want to bring a flashlight and chainsaw.
  13. With bubbly blood, why wait until morning? Ain't ya got a flashlight? Around here the coyotes would feast on that thing in a matter of hours and in the morning you'd just find a crime scene.
  14. How about spraying yourself down with, and drinking, apple cider while you sit?
  15. Get in there you coward. No way that water is below 50 degrees yet.
  16. One hit by a car on 684 in Purdys and one hit by a car in New Caanan, CT on the Merritt too. I think within a few weeks of each other. Maybe 5-6 years ago.
  17. hot damn, that is a monster. in my eyes at least. Imagine if that thing makes it another 2 years or so.
  18. NRA aside, I just don't see how one person can be so far Right or so far Left. I would think that most of us agree with one side on some issues and the other side on other issues and probably disagree with both sides on another. I'm not a political person, and this is probably the reason why.
  19. Around here I honestly feel we're hiding more from other humans than we are from deer. Visually obviously, not pertaining to smell.
  20. I also think, depending on the spot I am sitting, that getting up good and high in my tree helps too. And I try not to fart.
  21. I wash my stuff in no-scent/no UV brighter detergent and then keep it in a room in my basement away from household odors, my dogs, and such. I sprinkle some red fox urine or something similar in the leaves on my way out and smear my boots around in it. Aside from those few steps, I just try my best to play the wind on that given day.
  22. I just recently bought some parts from you! Welcome!
  23. Real nice buck. Best of luck on seeing him during daylight hours.
  24. Re-read. It was within 30 minutes of SUNRISE.
