    I just bought sentlock bibs and coat from Dicks. They were both marked down to 69 from 99. Both are insulated but not heavily. I have been using Walmart stuff and layering underneath. The cold goes right through. My hope is this stuff cuts the wind and works a little better.

    Should I position my tree stand opposite where I expect the deer to come or facing it? On the opposite side you get the cover from the tree but it makes for a more difficult shot.

    Ok. So I came up with this appetizer. It is a great introduction to venison for people that may be a little apprehensive. I cut the back strap in half and then split it down the middle. I season it with LA LA XUXU Amazing venison spice rub. (This stuff is awesome)! If not Salt and Pepper works fine. I sear the back strap on the grill. Nice and rare. Let it rest for 15 min. Slice the back strap in 3/8 thick pieces. Place crackers on a cookie sheet. Place the slices on the crackers slice up some pepper jack cheese place on top of the venison. Place in an oven preheated to 400, just to melt the cheese. Dice up some red onion. Place a small dollop of sour cream and sprinkle some of the red onion over the top. DELICIOUS!!!

    Found and followed blood on the doe from last night. We found where the deer bedded down. Then it gets interesting. Found area all torn up and fresh blood. Twenty yards away a gut pile. I'm guessing a hunter this morning jumped the deer and put it down. Sucks that I didn't get to recover it but at least it didn't go to waste.

    I luv it! When I took my daughter out at 7 she was a mess. We actually shot a doe that day. But impatience? She had plenty. Give him the phone on vibrate and let him go. When it gets good bring him in. Hell when I start lookin at the phone the deer usually come in. It's a great time in our lives when our kids are with us in the woods. I remember my time with my dad and they will remember their time with you. God bless our kids!!!

    Doe heaven today. I shot a year and a half. The mature doe in the group had a yearling. I wasn't in the mood to orphan the baby. I think I got a liver shot. We will see. Going to hunt the morning then look

    Shot a doe. Hit a little high and a little back. Arrow still in the deer. I didn't push it. I'm going back in the morning.

    Congrats Moog! Climbed a tree that is too skinny now I'm sitting at an angle and swaying all over. But I think I'm in a great spot in 3s. I'm gonna find a new tree for the morning hunt. Good luck all this afternoon.

    Can I ask a stupid question. If we try to hunt down wind from the deer so deer don't smell us and we use scent so deer smell that. How does that work?

    Funny how one of these hypothetical debates blows up. I was watching Pursuit Channel last night and the guy took a straight on shot at an elk. In slow motion the energy that shocked its body was tremendous. Dropped the animal instantly.

    Very interesting. Two different deer one day apart in exactly the same spot. Can't be a coincidence.
