Corona Virus Thread

I think Cuomo is a terrible Governor and lacks leadership skills, so decisions like this are to be expected when he never prepared for such an event, ever after the H1N1 virus depleted most supplies and he was advised they were in short supply. Spending money on medical supplies didn't buy him any votes, so it wasn't done. He's a great politician though, able to convince people to vote for him, even though he lacks everything you would want in a leader, except the silver tongue that can turn lies into roses. Right now, he must work with what he has, due to his own mismanagement, and that means playing God, which he must thoroughly enjoy, in order to save face and keep his supporters convinced he's a hero who cares about saving lives. Those are my thoughts.

I'm pretty sure a few members on this site do vote for Cuomo, and many do support him as well. Maybe these facts, which have been attacked as "fake news", will educate some of them and convince them not to vote for him next time. It's very unlikely, I know. His anti-gun, anti-business, high tax agenda hasn't been enough to do it for them. Even the opposition doesn't have all the info they could use to talk to others about why this man needs to be sent packing. This gives them information to use when talking with others who don't agree. Isn't that what this political forum is for? Personally, I want this man removed from office as soon as possible, and I base that on all of the damage he has done to this state since he's been in office. He will continue to damage the state as long as he is able to. He's biased, leftist, oppressive, dictatorial, dishonest, hateful and corrupt. There's plenty of data to prove each one of those descriptive adjectives as well. He's even using this virus crises for political purposes and putting a lot of NY residents at risk while doing it. What I would like to discover is, what is his end game?

While they sing "Let's come together" and say "We're all in this together" they're putting a knife in our backs. The point is, remember this on election day. People have very short memories and continue to re-elect these bums. Plus, unless people protest vigorously right now, it will continue. These so called "leaders" are anything but. They coast through office hoping they will never be challenged, and if they are, they play a game of "distract and deflect". This has got to stop if we expect to survive the aftermath of this virus crises.

Fake News?? The report said the city wouldn't have enough ventilators in a severe pandemic. This article says the report never specifically told Cuomo to buy more, so the fact he didn't, means he didn't waste money elsewhere when he could've bought ventilators, and even if he did there still wouldn't be enough. So, basically they are saying nothing can be done that would keep ALL the victims from dying, so doing nothing is OK. Cuomo wasn't told what to do by the report, so as leader of NY State, he's not to be blamed for not doing what needed to be done? The directive is implied in that report and if he didn't know what needed to be done after he read it, he is no leader and not able to handle any crises. Besides, his own administrative staff told him NY needed to do it. He chose not to! Leftist spin really has no shame. It can defend anything leftists do with extreme faulty logic, and ignorant people will take it as gospel. This is why the left is evil. It defends government abuse that hurts the citizens. These so called "Fact Checking" sites are leftist propaganda mills that never "fact check" anything leftist Democrats do. The bias is as blatant as it is hypocritical. The were created to keep the leftist voting base from knowing the truth about whatever they want to bury. They pick out meaningless details in situations and try to make the clueless believe that makes everything false. Ex: Cuomo took his limo to a hospital and told everyone to kill all the virus victims. Fact Check: False. He took an SUV. He's a really great leader.

Yesterday my daughter tells me wearing the mask all day is like breathing into a paper bag. You're rebreathing your own CO2 all day and it makes you feel woozy. She's a unit manager and has to constantly support her staff and keep their spirits up. Many are very fearful and worry they won't be able to go on anymore. Nursing has always been stressful, (Mom was an RN) but I've never seen anything this bad. "We the willing, led by the unknowing, have been doing so much, with so little, for so long, we are now fully qualified to do anything, with nothing!"

I only use fiber optic open sights on the turkey gun. I prefer a 2x7 on my Savage 12 ga bolt action rifled slug gun. The 2x is low enough for close range and the 7x is good for shots at 100 yards in low light and brush. The gun can kill at 150 yards and 7x often helps to put the slug exactly where it need to go on the animal, as well as through the twigs around it.

Never met anyone who fired a firearm for the first time and said, "That sucked."

Jerry, we should start another thread on it, because a lot of questions have never been answered. Where's the hotel video evidence? Why no video in the room where he had cams set up? Wife was Muslim and fled to the middle east with lots of cash. Islamists took credit for the attack. Why did he have a car in back of the hotel for an escape and authorities were stopped from talking about it? Why does much cell phone video and audio, as well as patrolman body cam footage, talk about multiple gunman and shots from different directions and locations? Why different gun shot sounds and fire rates? Why so many rifles and convenient use of bump stocks for the first time, when anti-gun lunatics just recently started a fear mongering campaign about them? Why was the man's past sealed by authorities? He had some involvement with the CIA according to some reports and those reports were suddenly classified. Many, many more unanswered questions and it's hard not to notice how it all just dropped off the grid suddenly. How long did we hear about Columbine and Sandy Hook? What took the police so long to respond and why the different stories and timelines on all the police reports? This seems as if there was a lot more going on here then the public was told about. Either the govt covered up a direct attempt to alter gun laws, or they decided to use it to tell a lie and hide the truth for the govt's benefit. Either way, no way one lunatic did what they want us to believe he did. As far as the founders never knowing what would be available in the future, they were more about freedom, self defense and punishment for people who abused it. They despised "preventative law". More likely they would not want the govt to have nukes or be as big as it is today.

Thanks. Hey, I got two likes and now I'm out again. What's with that?
-
Thanks. I've been thinking about FMLA, but don't know how that goes. I work Sat, Sun, Mon & Tues only. It's a 4 day week. I only need Mon & Tues off. But it may go on for months. I have vacation time I can take that will carry me for 10 weeks like that if approved. Time will tell. Dammit! Now I'm out of "likes". I'm working in rehabilitation and I'm considered "essential". We are short staffed. This whole virus issue really sucks.

Now I think I can understand how a parent feels when their child is sent into combat. I hold back tears whenever I look at this picture. We don't have anyone else to watch the grandchildren and daycare closed. She took an oath and abides by it. I have a job for the health benefits. I'm only 64 so not yet able to get on Medicare. I haven't told my employer I'm going to need a few days off each week for a few weeks. We will see if they understand or turn out to be jerks. If they don't accept the situation, I have to tell them it's going to happen, like it or not. Wonder if unemployment will pay based on that scenario. If not, I may be selling some nice firearms soon. I do what I gotta do.

I'm watching the grandchildren, ages 6 and 1, while she's at the hospital every day. Scares the crap out of me. Today she sends me this.....

You don't predict it, you prepare for it. Because if it happens and you didn't, you're fugged like he is now. You buy car insurance to be prepared right? Never been in the boy scouts sluggo? He made a typical politician move to buy votes with the money instead of preparing for a very real possibility.

Cover fire isn't the case for this. What people own and for what reason, is nobody else's business. That's the case. Demanding approval from the govt for exercising a right is not what free men do. We expect prosecution of people who abuse the right, not prosecution of people the govt thinks might abuse the right. Anyone really think the Vegas BS was really just one man going nuts? If so, the govt loves you.

Oh, if you mean the 1st video, that's a Ruger Mini-14 in .223

Nothing that small in the video. Browning 50 cal M2 is the big machine gun. I love those things. Can't beat the Ma Deuce since WWII.

Watching New York City's response to the coronavirus pandemic provides an enlightening display of leftist hypocrisy, as well as the brilliance of the Founders' federalist system of government. While no one is to blame for the existence of the virus itself, we can certainly assess various leaders' responses to the outbreak. The media and the Democrats hold President Donald Trump to a very high standard — a standard to which they exempt themselves. Among President Trump's most vocal critics has been New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. At 8.6 million residents, the Big Apple is America's largest city — more than twice the population of Los Angeles. And at more than 28,000 people per square mile, its residents are like sheep crammed in a pen, which has facilitated the rapid spread of the virus. De Blasio's words and actions have been the epitome of progressive arrogance and bureaucratic incompetence, and the people of NYC — and all of America — are paying the price. NYC is home to nearly half of all U.S. coronavirus cases, with infection rates far higher than the rest of the country. As New Yorkers realized the magnitude of the pandemic, and the ineptitude of the mayor's response, many fled the state, carrying the virus to other parts of the country. Yet just two weeks ago, de Blasio was publicly contradicting his own health officials and resisting his aides' recommendation to shut down the city's schools and businesses. Many threatened to resign over his refusal, with one aid calling his actions "inexcusable and reckless." On January 24, de Blasio told New Yorkers to "pursue their everyday activities and routines, but to remain aware of the facts about coronavirus." On January 28, de Blasio said, "What we now know is this virus was underestimated by the Chinese government. ... It's probably here already." On February 13, he told the city, "[COVID-19] should not stop you from going about your life. It should not stop you from going to Chinatown and going out to eat." On March 2, he again told New Yorkers to "go on with your lives [and] get out on the town despite Coronavirus," even making movie recommendations. On March 11, he said, "This disease, even if you were to get it, basically acts like a common cold or flu." That same day, after accusing President Trump of "minimizing ... a global pandemic," de Blasio advised people "to not avoid restaurants," adding, "If you're not sick, you should be going about your life." Unbelievably, it took five more days before de Blasio announced the indefinite closing of all schools and nonessential businesses. Yet he still found time to go to his gym hours before it closed, a decision that infuriated his staffers. Meanwhile, he's released 650 inmates from Rikers Island prison to avoid spreading coronavirus among them. By March 27, with refrigerated trailers being converted into makeshift morgues, an emergency field hospital constructed in Central Park, and NYC doctors complaining that "the system is overwhelmed" and describing the situation as "hell" and "worse than 9/11," de Blasio finally acquired some humility. On Sunday, CNN's Jake Tapper pointed out de Blasio's harsh criticism of President Trump before asking if he accepts any blame for NYC's disastrous response, including his failure to order any protective gear for medical personnel until March 6. Naturally, de Blasio deflected, saying, "We should not be focusing ... on anything looking back on any level of government right now." Of course. Moments later he admitted that President Trump and his team have been incredibly responsive to the mayor's pleas for help. This was just days after he went on TV claiming President Trump would not "lift a finger" to help NYC, an obvious lie meant to distract from his repeated statements and actions (or failures to act) leading directly to the rapid spread of the coronavirus. De Blasio was right when he said COVID-19 "moves very, very fast, in a way none of us have ever experienced in our lives." Yet that reality has not stopped him and other Democrats from blasting President Trump at every turn. The hypocrisy is as galling as it is blatant.

He made the decision and ignored the facts. In 2015, New York's Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo was faced with a decision: purchase a recommended 16,000 ventilators to add to the state's pandemic preparation stockpile, or spend the millions elsewhere. Cuomo chose to go the latter route, commissioning a task force led by his health commissioner, Howard Zucker, to come up with a rationing plan for using the state's existing ventilators should a pandemic scenario ever become reality. In other words, create a death panel that will determine who gets the state's limited number of ventilators. Furthermore, instead of spending $576 million on 16,000 ventilators, Cuomo elected to waste $750 million of the state's budget on a solar-panel boondoggle known as the Buffalo Billion. Now, five short years later, that unthinkable pandemic is here and New York, the state hardest hit by the China Virus, has been caught unprepared. Cuomo daily begs the federal government for more ventilators as if it was the job of the federal government to ensure that states were fully prepared for whatever crisis may come along. Former New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey recently blasted Cuomo's decision to forgo the advice to stockpile ventilators, writing, "In New York, rationing ventilators should be unnecessary. The state knew of the shortage, had the money, and should have bought the lifesaving equipment, instead of making a plan on who should live or die." What is truly amazing is that, despite his glaring mismanagement on an issue after direct warnings, Cuomo's favorability has increased during this crisis. There are now many Democrats calling for him to be the party's presidential nominee as opposed to the increasingly frail Joe Biden. Much of Cuomo's current popularity can be tied directly to a fawning media — led by his brother. As the Washington Examiner's Eddie Scarry observes, "It's weird watching CNN's Chris Cuomo interview his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, almost every single night, but it's even more weird that the national media are treating the governor like a hero. He has done nothing remarkable in managing his state's response to the coronavirus." In fact, Cuomo's decision five years ago has likely cost New York lives.

When you need the enemy to keep their head down so you can advance, you employ cover fire. Works well against any attackers too.
