  1. Bringing an 8wt. Which should be fine for for baby and juvenile tarpon. If I need larger, I can use the guide's rod.
  2. Holed up in NYC apt and not seeing anyone but my wife, then on a plane to Mexico for six weeks of sunshine, swimming pools, tequila and tarpon.
  3. Have a safe and happy holiday, everyone!
  4. Once the hospitals start filling up again, once people start dying again past the 1000 a day we now accept as the new normal, I think you're going to see a lot of people lining up for shots. Man, this is where I came in two years ago. Trump's press conferences. That situation for a leader is a gimme. You come out reassure people that everything in your power is being done, hand it over to the experts, sit back and nod and, if you're a cynical prick, use it to to cement your reputation and next election. Hell, Giuliani - who is a blithering idiot - almost made the WH due to 911. But Trump couldn't get out of his own way, or couldn't let the story be about anyone other than himself, and pissed the whole thing away. Well, now you know how Biden voters felt.
  5. Yes, he wasn't against taking it. He just was against publicizing and promoting it, or using the power of the office to encourage people to get vaccinated.
  6. He was booed a little. I think people were mostly, "wait, what did he just say?" Trump downplayed it and wasn't his usual bombastic self. He knows that his followers will turn on him in a minute. The problem isn't the extreme ends on each side; it's the wholesale labelling of anyone on an opposing side as "extreme."
  7. Trump announces he's boosted and his followers react in a normal way:
  8. What does Big Pharma have on him? That's what I want to know.
  9. Hah! I stopped fishing like that years ago. To my betterment or detriment ... not sure which.
  10. If I had some deer under my belt it might have been different. Might have. Yes. And it needs to be on my terms. Or equal terms. Or some arbitrary terms that I made up. Is there a difference between this deer at 30 yards from my porch and the same deer 300 yards over my ridge? To me there is. Or has to be. But then, I'm the guy who leaves a spot on the river if I'm catching fish too easily.
  11. Well, shit. Spent yesterday inside planning my last hunt for today. Slow start due to work but walked out at 9:00 am to find two does on my hill just 30 yards away. Staring at me. I swung my ML up, steadied on the chest of the larger and paused. Then I lowered my gun. After a frustrating two years of rifle hunting, shooting a deer essentially from my porch wasn’t the experience I was after. Am now sitting in the snow bouncing between regret and the confidence I made the right decision.
  12. Here's a nuanced opinion on omicron. Easier to read: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1471980512503758853.html
  13. Pouring rain all day and I really don't have decent rain gear or cover, so am still in sweats stoking the fire and watching Arcane. Tomorrow will be it and I hope the rain holds off.
  14. Excellent internet skills. No, when I was in KL there were few if any places like that. It more like this: Man, I miss the food there. World class and underrated.
  15. I was sitting at an outdoor cafe on a busy shopping street in Kuala Lumpur. There was a large tree filled with crows beside me and they were annoying the patrons. Two cops came by and stood underneath with shotguns and proceeded to kill crows until they all flew away. That might work.
  16. Met a friend for dinner last night at a local place. Great food, bottle of wine, whisky. We asked for the bill and the owner said that one of our acquaintances at the bar paid for our dinner. Pretty good night and a nice way to close out the year.
  17. That things that unite us are greater that those that divide us.
  18. Well, let's see. I don't bullshit in my posts, make myself out to be something I'm not, hide my ignorance behind hubris or troll other than trying to be funny. And a vast majority are self deprecating. So in that sense, yes, I guess I do attach some significance to my posts. Whether others do is up to them. I don't live and die based on my "likes." Rattler is finally making an attempt to resurrect his reputation and join the rest of the forum, and for that I applaud him and wish him well. It's admirable.
