  1. You just made my day! So happy to see this Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Absolute boring morning. Nothing moving at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Yesterday’s evening hunt was miserable. On and off rain with a couple of downpours mixed in. The weather forecast was completely wrong. I would have stayed in if I knew that was going to be the weather. For this morning I’m giving this stand one last sit before giving it a break. Cameras are showing pretty consistent doe movement in the morning. Just about every other day. They didn’t come by yesterday so I’m hoping today. I’m in and settled with 30 min before sunrise. 4. Oh for sure. He was my first big buck and he deserved to be honored and put on my wall. Full mounts where not in the cards for the other 2 for 2 reasons. 1. I’m truly not a deer mount kind of person 2. Spending $1,000 would not be financially responsible for me. I did however pay to have a nice Euro mount done and selected some nice skull hangers for them. 1. Currently resides in my daughters room as that is “her” deer and the other one patiently awaits for its spot on the wall. I will say I 100% get your point. Even before my big one I started to drift towards bigger bucks. 1 for the challenge and 2. Because I do like to see bigger ones in the woods and the only way to do that is to pass on the smaller ones. I just wanted to point out that your statement about a bucks size isn’t always true. 5. She’s pretty. Nice buy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Absolute down pour right now. I should be in my Taj Mahal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Good thing I have that umbrella because me thinks the weather man was wrong. It’s getting really dark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. If this is true this is awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I have one wall hanger. Since him I’ve killed 2 much much smaller ones than him. They both have a better story that I’d rather share around a campfire than how I got “the big one on the wall”. So for me it’s not about the size more about the story. Now I won’t lie I’m not out looking to kill any buck that walks by because I truly like to see them get bigger but if a small one fits my situation I’ll gladly shoot and tell the story for all to hear. 10. Just got in and settled complete with tree umbrella. I waited out the last bit of rain before making my way in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I’ve been in the stand since 6:30am. I was able to get the umbrella up just in time before the rain came. It was steady for about 30-45 min but has since stopped. Now it’s just the constant dripping from the trees. I’ve seen 3 doe all 80ish yards away at three separate times. The trail camera is showing some nice bucks moving around in the light but mostly from 3pm on. I’ll hunt until around 11 then go run some errands before sitting in the same spot for the evening. 12. It is, DEC just takes all the fun out of hunting. Imma right!?
  13. I found where it says No Aircraft of any kind so that would be drones as well
  14. I just looked on the DEC website and it mentions nothing about any illegal use of electronic devices just the usual no lights or lasers. I thought I had heard about the no drone thing but I couldn't find that either. I am going to keep looking because I honestly thought NYS allowed the use of two way radios and other forms of communication.
  15. I love all day sits but on day one when its light for 12+ hours that's hardcore! I wont start all day sits until mid to late October.
  16. All of archery season is already booked. We are taking reservations for the regular and late season though. Heat is extra. Overnight accommodations with food can be arranged as well. I’ll have my people call your people Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I just talked to a guy that lost a spot last week Monday! I couldn’t imagine being that close to the season and lose a hunting spot. He put in a brand new food plot and everything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Is 6S your spot right by your house? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Oh good lord everybody’s gonna be hammered 15 min into the debate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. This reminds me to pick up a book for the hunting season. I'll have to check out the local library.
  21. They don't sit for long that's for sure. I think my first sit with my daughter at 5 years old may have been 45 min before she had enough but she was super curious about hunting and really wanted to come with me one time and how could I possibly deny her that! It took me 5 years before I was able to get a deer when she was with me. I missed one with the bow and never had one in front of us with the gun until last year but she kept wanting to come out.
  22. Plenty of fantastic advice already given, I started taking my daughter when she was 5 because she was really curious and wanted to go. This year she is 10 and has been counting down the days until the deer season. Here where some of my tricks to keep her happy and like others have said just remember when you have your child with you it's not all about the hunt it's more about spending time together and when they want to go back in it's time to go back in. Plenty of snacks (heck we now have lucky skittles we keep for when we need the deer to show up) Books to read or color Electronics with headphones. Weather its a game or a show or music Thermos filled with hot chocolate Sleeping bag to keep them warm. Don't forget those little bodies get colder a lot faster than we do I will also pull the @crappyice trick of saying "hey did you hear that over there" just to reinvigorate there enthusiasm During Bow season I will let her handle the range finder and tell me the distances to certain objects gives her a sense of importance Point out interesting things in the woods and talk about them Sometimes while hunting we will talk about where we want to stop for a treat on the way home as well. Its usually as simple as a Bag of chips and a pop from the local store, hot chocolate and a doughnut, two years ago I mentioned stopping for dinner at McDonalds and I kid you not that child was so excited she made up a song about McDonalds and sang it in a whisper for a good hour and a half. She had me laughing so much there was no way we where going to see a deer that day. Enjoy your time with him in the woods!
  23. That and my range finder are in the bow case so as long as I remember the bow case I should be fine. If I forget the bow case then all bets are off.
  24. I'm just going to wing it this year. Nothing is ready at all and I only have 2 days to get it ready. I think I am just going to toss all my gear in the truck and hope for the best.
