  1. Tag stays with the carcass. All I need is the info on it.
  2. Finally, took in the first Steuben County buck of the season tonight. What a bruiser...taken on stateland to boot! What really stands out on this deer is the gaping wound that goes up into his nasal cavity. It wasas actually healing up. He's not going to make the prettiest mount...
  3. Hell no...McKenzie sucks. Ohio Taxidemy Supply forms are way better!!!
  4. I think we first started using rifles here in Steuben County around 2001 or 2002ish. We had a lot more deer back then too.
  5. This area was nothing but deer drives two decades ago...still alot of 870s and Ithaca 37s kicking around.
  6. My guess is this deer was shot on a drive. The former property owner's family used to be big into drive hunting. Most stand hunters use rifles these days but alot of shotguns are still used for the close, quick shots you tend to get on drives.
  7. This is what I've done on the others like this that I've mounted since this one.
  8. Actually this year has been worse. Idk of any big deer taken locally yet
  9. Yeah, I've seen some interesting racks develope from injuries, particularly in the hindquarter area.
  10. Nope, I'm not aware of a single one of his sheds being picked up.
  11. Only velvet pics at 5 yrs old... And 6 yrs old... 2019 at 7.5...
  12. Just went through the trailcam archives and came up with 7 yrs of history with this deer. The buck that would eventually be called "Big 6" showed up on the farm after season in 2013 as broken racked yearling... He was a cool looking 6pt at 2.5...showed up after season with an apparent gun shot wound at the top of his shoulders. He would have a noticable indent in this spot from this point on... Was pretty surprised when he survived the brutal second half to the winter of '14-'15. Working some scrapes at 3.5... Now more pics of him for an entire year from December of 2015 to December of 2016 when he showed up tending a late season doe @ 4.5...
  13. I'll have to dig up the pics of him....all the way back to when he showed up as a yearling in 2013.
  14. Oh that sinking feeling as you pull a card on a scrape on the way to your stand then suddenly remember that you only have doe tags in your pocket. Stick around to gun season big boy...
