I decided to sneak in well before daylight this morning in hopes of catching Wannabe a little late going back to bed. I've never tried here in the morning, but he's used this ditch crossing several times between 6:00 and 6:45 in the past week. Was settled in the tree before 6:00 but he didn't show. I checked the card on the way out and found that he'd come through at 7:18 last night and then back through a few minutes later. Dang, if he'd only show up a few minutes earlier. The chess game continues. He's looking pretty good. A friend shot a bruiser 8-pt monday afternoon that dressed 205#, I have no doubt that this guy is heavier than that.

Congrats Brian. What a way to start the season!!! Had my #1 on cam at 6:40 yesterday morning. It felt like a great night for movement but he pulled a no show. All I've had in killing range so far is 4 yearling bucks and a button. Hope to make it out tonight if the weather breaks.- 10374 replies

The does get a pass here this year from me...maybe not from my wife though with her limited time to hunt this fall.
-
That's what does are for and why 3-4 go in my freezer every season. I will gladly kill one Monday morning if the opportunity presents itself!

I've got an arrow with his name on it...

Believe it or not, this buck has been bedding in this overgrown hayfield quite often over the summer and I actually jumped him 80 yds off the road here on the 17th. He has no doubt been watching me come and go for months now...as I've attempted to pattern him!

Hard horn a few days ago...

I think that the late spring had a lot to do with it. Overall, it seemed to be a bad year for antler growth as many of the older, known age bucks that l have history with and friends of mine have history with did not grow or were smaller than they were last year. Also, this deer was super active in the rut last fall and had actually shed between getting pic of him on 12/10 and 12/20...

Young of the year coyote.

He's a beauty. I would put him at 2.5 last year. I love the 6X5 frame this year! I've always wanted to get a 12 pt typical on cam but have get to get one. Maybe some day...
-
I wish this pic wasn't so foggy...still shows his spread okay.
-
He's still around. Come on October!

Same place...same frame...same notch in left ear tip.

They're all bucks. This guy's in 8P, Wannabe is several miles away in 8R.

Caught him using this logging road again... There are so many bucks here its ridiculous. All the deer in the background are bucks. Lots of two year olds this year. My cam at the other end of the field has just as many different bucks...
-
The number of bucks using this alfalfa right now is insane. I bet I've got at least 30 different bucks so far between 3 cams...close to 20 that are 2 year olds and up!

One of my favorite parts about running trailcams is when a familiar face reappears! This young droptined guy was my favorite up and comer from last year. I was pleasantly surprised to see his face on my first card pull from a new cam setup yesterday. He may have lost his drop but he still has one of the best jumps in antler growth that I've seen this summer. He's a great buck now but could be something really special next year...

Not necessarily my favorite pic but this guy is probably my favorite deer on cam so far in 2018... -

Region 8 sucks for big deer. Nothing but spikes and forkhorns on my cams... -
He showed up again...his head looks small on that tank of a body. I would love to find out exactly what he dresses out at in October...

One month of antler growth...
WNY Bowhunter replied to WNY Bowhunter's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Yeah, the tall one. Here's a cool sequence of him tending a post season doe in late december 2016...no summer velvet pics of him that year. 2017 version. I got a few sweet velvet pics but only one good hardhorn shot towards the end of rifle season but I accidentally deleted it....no post season pics but I did see him a couple times still packing in early Feb. -
