I feel your pain. My new hunting bow is down and out too...waiting on my new set of string/cables to get here...haven't shot in a week!!!
-
At this time, I'm thinking about taking on less deer than last year...15-20 max.
-
Me too...more 2 year old 6s than I ever remember!!! I also have two fully mature ones. I think the deer started the growing season in poor shape this spring due to the severe drought during the summer and lack of winter forage/mast. Thankfully, the mild winter and wet spring helped them out. Also, have a lot of scrubby spike-3 pt. yearlings...

Nice and tender!

Was pretty surprised to see this little guy all polished up on 8/21..10-14 days early.
-
You need the kinetic energy to penetrate the tick armor on those Mendon deer!
-
Still using my same dozen I bought in '15. Perfect record so far: 6 heads = 6 very dead deer!
-
Rage Chinadermics just like the past two years...
-
Think your numbers are pretty close (I'd give him a 19" spread). With 28" mass = 123ish gross. It's not about the score, I just like him...
-
I named him Muley...
-
He's definitely young. That 10 is a great deer but I think I am going to focus on another buck on this property. I'm going to move my field cams to potential stand spots very soon hoping to narrow in on this guy's bedding - feeding movement.
-
My deer don't have nearly enough ticks for your taste...lol.
-
This year I am focusing on three properties. All are private, but none are close to being "managed" for deer. None of the three get too much bow hunting pressure but gun season is a different story. It's still real world NY hunting.

Nothing but scrubs there...

I wish... No, I found out that that particular buck was shot by a hunter from Bully HIll (near Heron hill end) towards the end of season in 2015. That sucks, I had pics of him on Nov 30th. The other dropper that I had in 2015 at the same spot was killed on opening day of gun last year.

No promises. This spot has treated me well for the past two seasons...hope the good luck continues.
-
I'm not hunting this year, only scouting for my wife...lol. Seriously, getting pics and putting an arrow through a good bucks are two way different things!!!
-
Checked the other cam on the opposite end of the field. I didn't have any more pics of the big 6 that I now call "Muley" and no pics of the wide, short tined 10 that I've been trying to get. But I did have a couple pics of a great up and comer that I had pics of earlier in the summer. He really grew nicely and appears to have suffered some recent velvet injuries... Crazy how his brows looks just like the bucks in my first post. Hope to see him next year!!!
-
He was even nice enough to check out my cam yesterday evening during daylight hours!!! Looks like an awesome 3 year old...

Stopped at one of the properties that I hunt this morning to check a couple of cams. Was hoping to have gotten pics of an elusive droptined buck that I swear I saw a couple of weeks back. Last weekend I had placed my new Browning Dark Ops cam at the upper end of the alfalfa field where the deer tend to come out. There were no good field edge trees to hang the cam on so I cleared a little path to the field hoping the deer would cross through it... Was pretty pumped to see these two guys!!! Then these two...I spy a droptine!!!

Easton Bloodline 400.

Hard to tell from the pics, but the deer are feeding in 40 acres of alfalfa. They've definately been eating well all summer. Now, all I need is the other two big ones to walk by a camera...
-
The deer have been eating well at this spot all summer. Hard to see from the pics but this is what he's
-
I'm thinking he's 4 too. That pic was from last Oct.
-
Wish I knew how old this guy is. Had him on cam last year, but that was my first season running cams here. All I know is that I'd love to put an arrow through his ribcage!!!
