Old school 835 with Indian creek choke. Also just installed a trigger spring kit to lesson the trigger pull and have a set William's fire sights in the mail.

I'm not a big fan of skull dipping...but that is pretty bad ass!
-
He was actually a big framed deer...around 185-190 dressed. I'd estimate him at 3.5 or 4.5. Killed him on 10/2...so he hadn't bulked up yet.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words from some one in the business. It's definitely a learning process with each mount I do.

Now all you have to do is talk the Mrs. into it!

Moog definitely likes his pedestal mounts! I prefer the semiupright pose.

I didn't mount the originally (I helped a little with it). Need a couple good display pieces for the shop so I did this one and and am going to mount a nice dead head I found too. Using the cape from last season's bow buck for that mount.
-
Thanks. His inside spread actually shrank by an inch and a half!!!

Finished up the new mount of my 2015 bow buck yesterday. Overall, I'm very happy with my replacement cape choice...very close match to the original.

The 6s patterned much better than the 5s out of my 835/Indian Creek combo. -

This time it did the job. Bought some mag blends so issue solved. -

The brain is the intended target but pellets to the spine, esophagus and even the lungs are lethal too. A body shot turkey and a gut shot deer aren't too different. -

I'd rather have pellets that penetrate both rather than just 6" of exposed head. Would you use a broadhead that only broke the skin and didn't reach the vitals? I wouldn't. -

I bought a box of mag blends last spring and every one of them opened on the end and spilled pellets in my pocket. Think I'm going back to them now though. -

Nope...he was dead on coming at me. Hevi will drive feathers clear through the breast -
I decided to try the 3.5" LB #6's this season. Upon cleaning my KY bird yesterday I was shocked by the lack of penetration from them. My 835 patterns a bit low so I peppered his breast pretty good...much of the shot barely penetrated the skin with a few embedded in the breast muscle. Had I been using the H13 I would have ruined much of the breast meat. Now, I've killed a lot of birds with lead shot and never seen such poor penetration (30-35th yd shot). Back to Mag Blends...

Wish I had all the ground to hunt that I did when I started out in the mid 90s...I definitely take you up on the deal. Getting on birds seems to be tougher every season now. -
Two...but they weren't people friendly birds from the suburbs.
