Robhuntandfish

This 7 pt I have seen multiple times in bow and couldn't get a clean shot at. Was in this stand on the 14th , the last day of bow hunting for me. Time is off by an hour for DST. But I was in the stand 45 minutes later.....go figure.

Hunt #37 pretty much all day point stand. Got headed in the morn with some fresh snow. Was going to a stand on the SE end of property but caught some large tracks coming out of where I was headed. Not really fresh but within the early mornings it snowed. Knew it was a buck. They lead me right over to the stand I have been hunting and seeing bucks in bow. So sat there. Saw one doe at about 80 in the brush. Didn't shoot was hoping for a buck but nothing following. Pulled the cam cards and the buck was thru at 2 am . Big heavy 8 pt. Left about 10:30 back about 12:30. Sat til dark and saw nothing. Also saw a beautiful pheasant in the am.

I think I have him on cam already. Have 3 -8s in the area. One is bigger than this guy even just need em to make a daylight move in gun season. I've seen em in bow but never close enough.

Saw fresh tracks this am and pulled cards and left for an hour and a half. Was gonna go to a different stand but this boy was here at 2 am. Hoping he's on a 12 hr return !

Beautiful morn. Fresh tracks coming in. Had a doe got thru brush at about 80. Was hoping for a buck in tow. But no.

Most bear mounts I haven't really cared for. But I really like that one. Incredible year for you

Sigh of relief.....I am now off til next Monday. Needed a vacation. Still not an official whole week but I haven't taken a whole week off in over 10 years. Going to hunt and just enjoy it. Hopefully even run into a buck out there. Couple of inches of snow Tonite too. Wed and Thurs weather looks great.

Was up there last year for a day. Never made it this year.

I have a ruger American in 30-06. Nice and light yet packs a punch and shoots for distance. And like spiff said you have the ammo. The 450 Bushmaster is a nice rig. Short light and very accurate out to 200. I enjoyed carrying it. My northern zone hiking rifle is my Winchester model 94 30/30. Light, short and I have a 4 power fixed scope .

Your problem is your now out of snacks......

That's a great add on to an already great hunt and deer.

Hunt #36 pine tree stand. Dark -9:30. Didn't see anything. Was planning to go home let dog out and come back at noon. But got a call from Corey he shot a doe! So went back and helped with that. Glad he filled the freezer! Talked to landowner for a while after. Gonna bag this afternoon now as it's gotten late. Back out Tues or wed.
