  1. What is this talk about fleas? Is there an insect problem on Ontario?
  2. Rockland lake was especially bad today for shore fishing but I did manage to get this 11 inch smallie
  3. When you're super snagged, you can take a stick and wrap the braid around it a few times and pull with that. Prevents the stress on your rod, reel, and you won't need gloves.
  4. I've tried a few times with those but no results. I had my knot fail on a cast the other day so now I don't have to worry about trying to work on my presentation.
  5. Looks like I'm waiting until Monday to go after largemouth, since im now going on a charter for fluke saturday
  6. Velcro strips to attach the mat too, instead of glue
  7. After years of fishing it, I finally managed to pull a trout out of Hessian lake. As soon as I got the little thing out of the water it hopped off the hook and smashed itself on the rock. It swam right away... hopefully it was alright.
  8. Not who I was looking for but I'm much happier than getting no bites.
  9. Going out as early as I can, and staying out as long as I can.
  10. Well, Coolidge may have been best dressed...
  11. Went for the 35. Broken rod is on its way back and then I'm gonna be all set
  12. Hm, only time I had blye fish it was frozen for quite a while. I wonder how much more I'd like it fresh.
  13. I would absolutly be down for Lake Ontario too. One guy I was talking to at the outdoor expo a few weeks back really got me excited to check it all out. As for eating blues, I'm all for it. My brother gave me a few fillets from his trip and thought it was great, and really saw/tasted what people meant by the nasty blood line. I'm pretty much dying to get out there as soon as I won't have to worry about being super chilly while being on a boat I paid to be on. If somones throwing together an outing I'd love to be kept in the loop. I've got a few people who said to keep updated about my plans on getting out onto a boat. So I'm hoping to at least do a spring outing, and a summer outing. Just have to make it work with my job since I have a specialized retail job role.
  14. Thanks for everyone's input, I'll Def reach out to those who offered, once it gets a little closet to when I'd like to get out there.
  15. Very cool. I'm thinking of maxing out my driving distance( at least the first time) to be around 3 hrs from rockland.
  16. Depending on the day, you could call me cheap, frugal, or just plain without much disposal income. So keep in mind I won't be traveling to Florida to arm wrestle a swordfish. What species would you reccomend I choose, when Im deciding on a charter to take me out on my first salt water experience to net me the greatest poundage to bring home in my cooler?
  17. Yep, 6'6. I'd be using 8 or 10lb and usually from the bank so the main reason for wanting extra line is for when I get a snag and have to break off a rock or tangle up in a tree.
  18. I've got the option of getting a good deal on one of those options. I want to match it with my med action st. Croix to use as my bass rod. I'm mostly seeing people say to get the 30, but I kind of want the extra line capacity of the 35. I'm pretty sure the 40 is overkill though. Thoughts?
  19. Charlies worms has been serving me well latly.
  20. First fish of the year and it was a beauty. Roughly 15inches
  21. Sorry for any confusion, I'll rework and shorten. How come the season (souther tier) so long before thanksgiving? My girlfriend demands liver and I had to tell her too bad.
  22. Sorry if this is a dead horse being beaten but I haven't been on this section of the forum here. Is there an offical/biological reason that NY and NJ turkey seasons are as "early" as they are? In previous years when I came out of a public mountain trying to get a deer with gun, I'd see at least a dozen trying to recruit my truck into their flock. The other morning I had another 8 hens blocking the road when I was trying to go to work and I was forced to shake my fist at them. Never tried to target them during their season.
  23. Left the woods a touch early. Zero deer seen. Plenty grazing in the fields next to the road on my way to town
