  1. Good for you. Would you like to get paid to let someone hunt your land? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. How many times are you gonna post this? If prices drop in BC for guided hunts, I will go back there. Sorry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Maybe NY goes a totally different and does it like the western states (CO, WY, AZ, etc.) with a draw. Certain areas of the state like Adirondacks and Catskills would be easier to draw tags, while the trophy farmland units would take multiple years of points to draw 1 buck tag. I could only imagine the crying on this site if guys only got to hunt a buck once every 4-6 years.
  4. I posted this earlier today, maybe NY will go to something like this statewide? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Is Westchester gonna allow Xbows? I got some legit spots waiting for this change. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Many may not know this, but there are AR's on certain DEP lands in Putnam County (3N) right now and they are based on inches among other things: the following conditions apply to all hunters over 17 years of age and will be enforced: Only does may be harvested on the following days – no bucks may be taken on these days:The first two days of bow season; The first two days of regular gun season; The first two days of muzzleloader season. On all other days of the legal hunting season, bucks may be harvested to meet these requirements:Antler spread of at least 15 inches in width and /or, Minimum of three points on a side greater than one inch long, excluding brow tines. Hunters are encouraged to harvest does over bucks throughout the season. If you harvest a doe on any City hunting area, you can enter the lottery drawing to win a great prize from DEP.
  7. Thanks for the offer. Don't get me wrong, I do like it. Just not enough to spend the time shooting a doe and losing that time I could have a chance at a buck. I used to pay $90 and get a whole deer butchered and ate it all, but then the opportunity to get backstraps/steaks only and donate the rest for free seemed like a better deal for me.
  8. Given the amount of days I hunt, I wouldn't waste time with does (unless piebald or albino) no matter how much land I had access to. I actually have access to several hundred acres in Chenango County, but haven't hunted it in probably 10 years. Just too far to go for 1 day of hunting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I would say I hunt deer in NY 3-7 full days per year between full day Saturdays, 1/2 day Sunday, 1/2 day TGiving, etc. There's no way I am going to give up any of this small amount of hunting time to shoot a doe, drag it out, drive it to the butcher to donate. I'm lucky if I see 1-2 bucks per year, so that's all I'm interested in. In years past, I shot any buck I saw, now I try to hold out for something bigger. If I see a buck I like I shoot it, keep the backstraps, and donate the rest to a foodbank through the butcher I use. Where I hunt (3N - Putnam County) is not a place where I go and see 20 does in a day anyway. I would say typically there is a 50/50 chance that when I see a deer, its a buck. Many full days I hunt and don't even see 1 deer.
  10. In all honesty, even if I had tons of land, I would never shoot does. I don't care about venison that much. I understand other people feel differently and that's fine.
  11. I personally would be fine with whatever happens. I just follow the rules and hunt. I don't shoot does. When I hunt PA it's 3 to a side. If NY goes to ARs or a 1 buck rule, I will just follow the rules and keep hunting. The last 2 years I passed smaller bucks in hopes of getting a bigger one. To me, it's like fishing, I just follow the limits and that's that. Sometimes I keep my limit, sometimes I throw them all back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. Not sure what you mean? I don't grocery shop in NYC, but whole foods and many other grocery stores in Westchester sell chicken from farms in the Catskills etc. I've see upstate farms with stands at farmers markets in NYC. Many restaurants in westchester and nyc are "farm to table" type places where the food is from local farms etc. Eating healthy foods has become a real fad in NYC, people pay big bucks for "organic" "non gmo" "free range" etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. You can get free range chicken at tons of places in NYC. In addition to restaurants grocery stores, and markets, even some farmers markets have it now.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Tough battle they in up there because it's essentially BC Residents who are guides/outfitters vs. BC Residents who aren't in the industry. I wonder how (if at all) this will effect the costs of BC hunts going forward......... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I hunted BC last year near Anahim Lake, beautiful country. Long post but not much info included. Here's an article explaining the changes. http://www.cbc.ca/m/news/canada/british-columbia/new-hunting-regulations-in-b-c-favour-foreigners-says-wildlife-federation-1.2869668 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. You said it not me. Money would have made you better somehow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Well then I'm sorry for your family you weren't better. Better luck next time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. If you were unhappy about your financial situation , you should have made changes. Here's a just a few of many changes you could have made: Looked for a better job Cut back on your expenses Got a 2nd or 3rd job Spent more time with your family instead of this hunting forum Point is, we all legally have to pay taxes. 20. No issues. The few times I went at night, I put a note on my dashboard saying I was hunting coyotes/fox/bobcat at night so that someone wouldn't think there was a hunter injured somewhere in the woods or something.
  21. I can't make it, but I heard a lot of DEP lands in Putnam have good coyote populations and a closer drive for you. With deer season over in Putnam, you can use a rifle.
  22. Buckshollow Emergency Equipment Corporation. It's right off Taconic in Mahopac (Putnam County) Can't remember what they charged, but my Dad used them in selling a gun to a guy in Texas Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. The safe was empty but made out of 14K gold and weighed 288 ounces. 14K gold is 58% gold and he sold the safe when gold was $1,200/oz.
  24. I was gonna ask the same thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Makes sense. If its your only bear mount it will look great. I have a basket 8pt buck mounted that doesn't even come close to 100" but looks great because I have no other whitetails mounted.
