Best place to shoot a fur bearer
BizCT replied to Woodjr55's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I don't trap, but I am curious as to what the market prices are? When I was recently in British Columbia, I heard the following approximations if I remember correctly: Muskrats = $11 Otter = $100 Marten = $100-$200 depending on color Lynx = $250 Silver Fox = not much because they can be produced on farms Cross Fox & Red Fox = $70-$100 It was a crazy process if I remember correctly. Furs are driven 3 1/2 hours and then put on a bus for an 11 hour trip to Vancouver and then flown to Montreal and then part of an auction. -
Haha, no. She doesn't hunt. I did say "thinking about possibly" lol. However, I did get the OK to play a round of golf in Hawaii by myself. Was thinking about ditching my round of golf for a deer hunt. I haven't brought anything up to her yet. Not until I know for sure if I even want to do it. Might just be better off with a fishing charter, which is something that she would want to do.

Best place to shoot a fur bearer

I don't hunt furbearers for fur, so I'm not expert. However, every trapper I ever talked to in Canada (Alberta and B.C.) shoot their furbearers (Yotes, Cross Fox, Red Fox, Lynx, Otter, Fisher, Wolverine, etc.) with a 22 between the eyes. They told me this was to minimize fur damage. The exception being wolves which are shot in the lungs with a 22. -
A fence that restricts a deer because it can't jump over it lol. Looks like there are some outfitters in Maui who allow you to use their rifle so you don't have to travel with firearms to Hawaii for just a 1 day hunt. http://www.hawaiisafaris.com/Hawaii-Game-Hunting.php < Pat Fisher. Read good things about him as a guide on the bowsite forum. http://www.mauihuntingsafari.com/services-hunt-packages/ < another outfitter

+1. That's like 460,000 acres, or over 57,000 times bigger than the the 8 acres of property I hunt for whitetail.

Resurrecting this thread from the dead. Anybody ever hunt for FREE-RANGE, 100% FAIR-CHASE Axis Deer in Maui? I am most likely going to Maui for 9-10 days in June/July 2015 for my honeymoon. If so, I am thinking about possibly doing a 1 day hunt for Axis Deer.

Actually looks like the ban was lifted and you can bring them into US again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

yea I seen that one. But I don't think you can bring them in anymore Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

People completing the North American 29 Super Slams probably. The same guys who spend $40-$60K on a Stone Sheep hunt, etc. I'm not even sure if you can bring a polar bear back into the U.S. I know you can't bring a dead Mt. Lion into California.

This Richie guy has a $28K Polar Bear Hunt offered on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-CANADA-TROPHY-POLAR-BEAR-HUNT-27-999-100-SUCESS-ON-BEARS-/390746646436?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5afa50a7a4
