Yea, I hear ya. I enjoy the variety of seeing different parts of the US and Canada and getting to hunt different species of game. I couldn't justify paying a ton of $ to own land in NY and the only big game species is deer and rare bear.

I agree with you, grow. My grandpa always said you shouldn't work a job where every sunday night you are dreading work on Monday morning. I enjoy doing what I do, and I get 6 paid weeks off per year and technically only have to work a 35hr work week (anything over that is overtime). I can live comfortably and enjoy life. Could I make a lot more $ elsewhere? of course, but then my hours would be crazy and I'd have no life. To each their own. I just wish I could live farther from NYC where things were more affordable, unfortunately the trade-off would be making less $, etc. I wish I had my own "NY Hunting property", but I don't. Instead I frequently go on hunting trips to get my fix.

Its just my opinion. I don't plan on working past 58-60, I want to enjoy life, I only live once. I dont want to spend 30 years paying off a house. Why buy a $1MM house when the $700k house is sufficient? I know a lot of people who are late 20's making $200-$300k per year and paying $4-5k a month in rent and spend freely, but don't have much else to show for it. I think its stupid. On the flip side, I know plenty of girls who are "$50K millionaires". They make $50K per year, but buy $1K handbags and pay crazy monthly fees to drive a beamer. Thats the equivalent of a movie star who makes $10M per year spending $200,000 on a handbag. It makes me laugh. Of course, everyone splurges. I do with hunting trips lol.

I always hunt dark-dark so I bring a bagged lunch. Always 2 peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. No coffee (worried about smell) when I hunt, I bring water and juice boxes (sugar). I even brush my teeth unscented.

Too many people live beyond their means. Nobody should be taking a 30yr mortgage. Cut back on other things and take a 15yr, then pay above your mortgage payment as much as you can. Very easily that mortgage becomes < 10 years. In my opinion, you shouldn't be drinking $5 cups of coffee if you have a 30yr mortgage. Same goes for car payments. I don't think its a good price, its horrible. Nothing you can do in this area unless u choice to live in the ghetto or a bad school district. I think upstate taxes are fair because you get so much more land/house for your $. I think property taxes in NY as a whole are high. Out western U.S. you can own a $1M home n pays less than $10k in taxes.....must be nice. I own a 1 br co-op apartment (900sq ft) n pay $3.5k in taxes, $3.5k in maintainance. Sucks. $9k in taxes on 5acres sounds about right. There are people paying $9-11k in taxes on 1-2br condos with no land. I think the more land you have, the higher the taxes? Some places 5acres n a house = $25k+ in taxes (depending on school district). Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
