Geno - Have you thought about Canada? Lots of outfitters with high success rates on big whitetails. I have never hunted deer in Canada because the season is November (busy season at work).

In addition to my post above: If you don't like sharing the woods with other people, then go buy your own property and patrol it. Many of us (myself included) don't have the luxury of ever hunting deer and not seeing at least 1 other hunter each day out there. I'm 100% againts illegal hunters, but if they are hunting legally, there is nothing to you can do. Ethics is a whole other topic.

Outside of the cigarette what is the guy doing wrong? 1. He is hunting public land. 2. He is hunting legally. 3. He is wearing an orange hat, so what? I do the same with my xbow even during archery season in PA. I'd rather be safe than sorry, no matter if the land is public or private. I plan to wear an orange hat when I hunt CT archery season this year with my xbow. Same goes for NY when it becomes legal. I've always been taught to wear orange and I've never had a problem seeing deer when I hunt. Why would I change now? Maybe orange has never saved me from being shot at, but I'd rather not find out the hard way.

No. Grew up hunting deer with a shotgun from the ground. When I got into xbow hunting, I had no urge to limit myself to a tree. I've had deer eating the bushes I'm sitting in, never felt a need to carry in n out a climber.

Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

No. I posted this before I knew of any show. I haven't seen the show. I got approved to hunt with xbow in CT during archery season, looking for some private land access. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2 -

COPY & PASTED FROM THE NYS DEC 5-YEAR PLAN: 2. Crossbow use by hunters in New York. DEC supports the use of crossbows for hunting during all seasons in which other bowhunting equipment is allowed. The crossbow hunting law enacted in 2010 does not address deer management needs, nor is it consistent with hunter preferences. Deer populations in some portions of the state, particularly where access or firearm use is restricted, may cause serious impacts on forest regeneration, biodiversity protection, and public health. Crossbows are one additional tool to help DEC manage deer populations. Further, allowing crossbows to be used by hunters with physical disabilities – as well as family members with whom they enjoy spending their outdoor experience – will allow them to continue hunting. This is consistent with DEC’s interests in connecting New Yorkers with nature. A majority of New York deer hunters (including a majority of bowhunters) support legalization of crossbows, particularly for seniors (68%) and hunters with disabilities (78%) but also for all hunters during seasons when other bowhunting equipment is allowed (51%, Enck et al. 2011). Whereas, only 19% of hunters believe crossbow use should be limited to the regular firearms season, as the current law authorizes. DEC supports the use of crossbows during any hunting season in which other bowhunting equipment is allowed and recommends that eligibility to hunt with a crossbow be the same as eligibility to hunt with a vertical bow.

BREAKING NEWS: Barack Obama is being questioned as a person of interest relating to the Boston bombing.

Belo - We ain't dead yet! "The Senate Environmental Committee approved S1699A this morning. It now moves to the Finance Committee for their review prior to the floor vote. Remember, the ultimate long-term goal here is to use a crossbow to kill a buck that Belo gets on trailcamera in 2013."

I hope you are right. I just got approved to hunt CT archery season with my Xbow. Season starts 9/16. Being able to hunt NY starting 10/1 would be nice too!
-
I would think at the very worst, they are allowed in the late ML/Bow season again. At the very best, they are allowed 10/1 in archery season.

Sounds like a planned attack to me. Today is "Patriots' Day" in Boston. Lots of Boston Firms/Companies are closed on "Patriots' Day" every year. The Boston marathon is run and the Red Sox always play at home at like 11am, each year on "Patriots' Day".

Hopefully it eats a Cali Politician. You cant even pass through Cali for a lion carcass or have lion taxidermy work in your house if you live in Cali.....crazy

Happens all the time down here....deer dying underneath big trampolines, in the middle of streets, in sandboxes, on school grounds, in public parks, etc.
