They are great if you ever get your atv stuck. 2 straps and you use it like a come along. I've used it to jack up tractors many of times too. If you own property it's a useful tool.

Right, back in the 70s ,it seemed like all vehicles came with them. A cheaper version though.  We went all sorts of places we had no business being with 2wd. Drive until you were stuck, jack the back end up out of the ruts push the car over off the jack , and away you went . Lol. For another 100yds anyways.  Unless we had the chevette and then we would just pick the back end up and move it over.

Now is the best time to hit your invasive Honeysuckle and multiflora rose  with a 3% gly solution!!

This is a short window where only these are leafed out enough to be hit with a spay and not kill any incendentals..   kill them off amd let native browse grow your animal will  love you for it!!

Yes you can  pull them but then you disturb soil and seed will grow, this is by far best method to remove these from your woods/ fields    short time frame only have about a week before other woody plant will be budded out....

Do you have any pictures of how much leaf needs to be grown for this to work?

What's interesting about back yard chickens ,if you don't use or get rid of the eggs you just scramble them up and feed them back to the chickens and that's weird .

They do have weird diets. In the past I really had to shew them away when cleaning fish. They loved fish parts..

Couldn't agree more. I would love all that esp if I was retired. A couple of friends of mine have done chickens etc and they calculate the eggs should be golden by the time your done. Lol but I would love to have all that myself too.

We had chickens for quite a few years when my kid was young . It would be her project, taking care of them collecting eggs etc..

She made out like a bandit selling 3-4 dozen eggs a day for 2-3$ a dozen.

We had more than that in chicken feed .lol. We know where the eggs where coming from and better than allowance(which she has never gotten..)

Very well the Brahma is a cold hardy breed and lay all winter

Remember to put a light in the coop . Ideally they have 12-16hrs of light a day to continue laying. Otherwise your egg #s will really drop off during the shorter days.

I recommend leaving the backpack at camp and just carrying the essentials in a Fanny pack for day hunts.  It don’t take too long at high altitude to learn that carrying extra stuff is not worth the extra exertion required.

For water, I would go in with a one quart canteen of tap water (that is plenty for all day on unsuccessful hunts) and a small bottle of purification tablets.  You will need gallons of water if you have to haul out meat.

When I dragged a gutted mule deer carcass, 5 miles thru the Rocky’s by myself (dumb move) in my mid 30’s,  I consumed about 2-3 gallons of water.  Each time I emptied the canteen, I refilled it and added a purification tablet.  They take a while to work but by the time I was thirsty, the tablets got the job done  That was faster than stopping and filtering would have been.  You can drag or haul while the tablets are working.

I am new to the western hunting. But I iliked having my pack with me. The bag separated from the frame and makes room for meat hauling, so I was always prepared to haul without taking a trip back to camp (which was often miles) I would always fill the 3 liter water bladder with electrolytes mixed in in the morning. Many a day , I had to refill at a stream with our filters. I havn't had a chance to try purification tablets .

Also the pack allowed for easy shedding and storage of layers. Don't forget my 2 MRE's  and emergency kit..lol

After typing it all out,  I'm thinking maybe I pack too much.. ha .ha.  Unless I'm going outback I carry the same pack even  deer hunting now. But I'm a sweater I need room for all my warm clothes because I cannot wear them in.

Possibly the most important piece of gear so far. Garmin inreach mini 2. Tiny gps, but i will be able to send txts to my family while i am gone and out of cell service, also and most importantly the SOS feature.

Nice!.. We're planning on trying out the Zoleo this year(satellites texting when linked to phone). 2 weeks without any outside communication is a long time these days..lol. Besides the safety aspect , it would have saved us a lot of feet miles when we hunted separately and wanted to meet up somewhere besides back at camp.

  8. I didn't think to take any pictures but we just finished our fishing club/camp get together. Elk burgers, elk steak, venison tenderloin, crappie and bass, (nothing from our actual camp in Quebec , we havn't been in 2 years)... I cannot hardly bend over and untie my shoes ..;)

You think they are coming here to work? I think they are coming for free shite!!   I bet less than 10% are here for jobs

Like others have said, there is a legal way to enter the country, anything else is bs.

That being said, there are 100s of immigrants (pretty sure mostly illegal) working on local farms. You can drive around all the local low income housing (subsidized, high percentage of welfare) and not see an immigrant in sight, but there is a pile of lazy Americans .

Yes they do. Perch will spawn in 5-15' of water typically in last year's grass. Their eggs will stick to the vegetation in long strings. We've been fishing 9' of water for perch.

I was checking the crappie bite this weekend. One spot on the St Lawrence had 9 boats clustered in a spot less than the size of a football field and seemed to be hammering the perch.. I was talking to a guy that said they were in the same spot the weekend before but on the ice ..lol

I ran over to Rossie, where the walleye run out of Black lake to spawn. It was rainy so poor pics. There were 24"+ walleye everywhere.20220407_163110.thumb.jpg.5de5813a5017e2a70b3714919da8a65e.jpg

I bought 4 cases off Amazon after the Great Steal. 1 MRE has enough calories for 1 Adult per day. I estimate 4 cases should last about a month and a half for my household.

Things would be desperate indeed, if one had to limit themselves to 1 MRE a day.. on our  elk trip in Colorado last year we ate 3 . Of course that's trudging up, down, and around the mountains.

I'd wack a deer before it came to that.;)

The only thing we actually collected special was 30#s of coffee.. No way in hell I'm going without caffeine. ;)

    Great pics.

I don't think those are golden eagles.  They have a black beak. Looks like yellow is starting to develop on the beaks in your pics.

Most likely an immature Bald eagle.

Here is a closer pic of one I took last summer . I watched them grow up all summer so I'm sure he was a young bald eagle.lolScreenshot_20220406-151837_Gallery.thumb.jpg.db8ae18880030be7dcd1e18bede78aad.jpg
