  1. I know what you mean but That is my guess only possible reason what else could it be ? Politics? Don't know if coyotes are loved that much by green movement for them to interfere.
  2. My theory is they all work good if you do your part practice take the shots you should take and let them walk if you can't. Just like with a gun no such thing as a magic arrow or bullet that is going to make up for a really bad shot . That being said You buy the best ones you can afford .
  3. I don't know for sure but maybe the DEC thinks the population could not stand that kind of hunting pressure . I would assume that is the reason .
  4. That's why I always bring at least a walking stick when hiking in the woods. You never know what can come at you in the woods .
  5. http://newjersey.news12.com/story/40886294/man-says-coyote-killed-grandmothers-dog-dragged-it-into-woods Are these attacks becoming more and more common?
  6. Mule deer, white-tailed deer expand range into Alaska https://www.ktoo.org/2019/08/05/mule-deer-white-tailed-deer-expand-range-into-alaska/
  7. This is very close to points I would be crossing from . there using real touring kayaks made for long distance runs . Much easier to go in .
  8. Just ordered a down wind sail rig for my kayak this way I can take advantage of the sea breeze that most the time blows you back to shore . If I do cross over to long island I will pick a day that the wind is blowing back to where I started from this way later on in the day when my arms get tired. I got the wind to help out wind definitely effects the kayak more then the current around here .
  9. I use a version of that when I go boating like the string that it has keeps it on you in the wind .
  10. That is common could be 2 or more friends or family getting together to share the cost
  11. When they have time they probably do hunt other places father away like crappyice says . Thousands of hunters out there not everyone likes to hunt the same way . To each his own . Some guys will buy land some will lease some prefer public land some like hunting mountains some like farms some like hardwoods and others like Suburbia .
  12. Say you live in Manhattan and don't want to drive far or hunt public land and you got lots of money those are the guys getting those leases around here the few there are . 0 in Westchester right now . It's still way cheaper then buying land to hunt around here cost you millions to buy any significant amount of land in Westchester ny to hunt.
  13. Going to hold off on the sound crossing for now its actually more interesting to follow the shoreline more to see out in the middle its featureless. And by the time a cross over it will be time to head back probably. I Have to plan for it carefully.
  14. You can't really tell boat in that one picture above that boat got snagged on the bottom or something he had the throttle full clouds of smoke coming from engine boat was not moving finally after 10 minutes he got free and probably sank out in the sound someplace lol the bottom is all rocks there definitely did some damage to his boat .
  15. Went out a little father today then yesterday saw few guy fishing but nobody was catching anything . The snappers, bluefish not running yet out there in the sound I guess .
  16. Was in Westchester. Thats what they were asking when there is so little land available they can ask anything just looked now there is 0 property's like that open for lease anymore .
  17. No like 1 or 2 I think i saw a few years back and they wanted like 20,000 30,000 for like 20 30 acres if I remember correctly. Crazy
  18. Yea sometimes you go out and it's so easy to paddle then wind and currents change and it can be tuff out there to get back happened to me a few times .
  19. Was thinking of crossing long island sound the other day one way no problem its about 5.4 miles across going back not so sure about that lol Never paddled more then about 6 maybe 8 miles in a day I don't think and that was along the coast line 11 miles on open water maybe pushing it . And my kayak is not the easiest hull design for touring like that but it's very stable does good in waves . Just not a speed demon .
  20. Define near you because last time I looked was a lot more then thst with in a 50 mile radius of you and me more or less .
  21. Looking out across the sound you can barely see East island off of lattingtown long island behind the first island in the picture above
  22. No its between rye and mamaroneck But I know at 5 island park you have to be from new rock which I'm not but after September sometime anyone can go for free there .
