  1. Hello Everybody, Here is a video of my hunt today. No deer shot, no deer seen. Just a real nice day spent in the woods hunting. Take care, brian https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvIXYdcawmg
  2. Jeremy, If you do not mind me asking, what type of a bow do you shoot? Stump shooting may not be the best practice if it is a compound. 3d targets may be a better choice. Nothing wrong with 3ds. Take care, brian
  3. That video was fun to make. I have a few others that I shoot at 3d targets. Jeremy, Sorry you did not like the video. Everybody has there own practice methods. Best of luck to all this season. take care, brian
  4. luberhill, Not sure yet. I'm retired so I am very flexible. The tent will handle snow and I have a larger wood stove for the colder weather. I think the forecast for next week should be fine. I have access to a nearby cabin if it got real bad but I would like to pull the tent camp before I can't drive back close to get everything out. I'm alone and over 65 so I need to keep that in mind. Also I'm in a area that gets heavy lake effect so I will keep a eye on the weather as it can change very quickly and if I do not get the camp out, it may be there all Winter. I came back home for a day or so to take care of some things but I will be back at tent camp soon. Hopefully the hunting picks up.
  5. Airedale - Grouse at one time were very common here but the past 5 years or so they are very scarce. Split Ear - Hat is a vintage wool hat I bought for one buck at a yard sale. Inside label says Country Gentleman Let em Grow - Thank you for subscribing. I appreciate it. Even though subscribing is free it is hard to get subscribers. Thank You. Blackbelt Bill - Thank You very much. Hope to publish a few more Hunting Camp videos soon. Maybe even one with some game getting harvested! Take care, Thank You and Keep on Truckin! brian

  8. After attending a memorial mass for my mother this morning, I was driving a carload of out of town relatives and stopped at a dinner for lunch. I was not pulling out of the dinner parking lot fast enough for the guy who was behind me and that guy started honking his horn and saying something to himself and making hand gestures to me. He must have been going someplace very important and my taking a extra minute to check the road was safely clear before I pulled out with a carload of people was clearly keeping him from getting there. In truth I was a little slow in pulling out but it was a very difficult morning for me and I certainly did not want to be responsible for a accident that may have made the day even worse. I was upset after it happened but no good would have come from it had I shouted back at him.
  9. Luberhill, Not in the Adirodacks. Why do you ask? Where are you located?
  10. Thank you Everyone. Luberhill, I can drive my truck almost up to the camp. I have access to a nearby cabin that I have been using for food storage. Pretty hard for a guy my age with my resources to travel to a 100% remote wilderness area. Although the site is not a 100% remote wilderness, I'm doing my best to use the tent camp as if it was. It fits my dream as close as I can at my age and with my abilities. It is not hard for me to imagine at times while being there, that I am in some very remote wilderness area. On a few occasions I have been interupted by noise from the outside world and I do my best to not let it bother me. As far as water goes, I have two 7 gallon water jugs and have access to a water source for getting water to wash. So far I am enjoying the experience quite a bit.
  11. Greetings to the NY Hunting Forum from my Hunting Camp, When I was younger and working, and for close to 50 years I would squeeze in a few days here and there between job and family commitments and go hunting or fishing. It was good but always seemed rushed .During those years I dreamt about spending extended time at a hunting camp with no job calling me back and no feeling of being rushed. Well, I retired this past July and with the exception of some Family commitments I have the time now to set up a long-term camp and spend time there. I set up camp about 4 weeks ago and the time I’ve spent there has exceeded my dreams. So far, no luck hunting but it has been worth while doing it. If anyone has ever had a similar dream, I would encourage you to give it a go. I would like to thank my friend and forum member Dino Rocks for inspiration to do this after I got updates from his 3 week trapping / hunting trip he did last season. The following videos are from my tent camp. Most of the stuff in the videos is about the camp as I have not had any luck hunting. Perhaps that will change but even if I do not get a deer, I am living my dream before I am too old to. Take care and good luck hunting, brian In order from the first to the latest. 21. Quite a bit different method for turkey than I am used to. You hunt them from a elevated stand like guys hunt deer over a food plot and are mostly relying on using a decoy to get the bird to come within range. Interesting. Take care and Good Luck Hunting.
  22. Wolc, The calling is the fun and exciting part of turkey hunting.
